CK has always had awful blur and lightning, not only on hybrid settings.

Hi people,
I am new to this hybrid settings stuff and I have no idea if this request is already done earlier or if there already is a solution to this. But bassicly I am looking for an even more clearer edge for the creep. I already set the creeptrans= to '0' but then it still is a little unclear.

As you can see, in the upper left corner, right above where I am going to put my spawning pool, you see the creep is ahead of its border, though you can't place structures over there. And at some other places its not spread widely enough to cover one box although there you can place structures on it.
So my suggestion/question was; 'Could the creep be made like this?'

I am not sure if this is even possible, and now I come to think of it, I don't think it is. But if someone who has actually an idea of what he's talking about could give his opinion about it, it'll be appreciated =)
GeeGee!!

sorry to bump this for my "special" question: I've just re-installed SC2 after migrating to a new OS and I want to force the game to have the black background. (no map textures). My eyes are very sensitive to light, so playing with the black background makes everything a lot easier. (even if seeing burrowed units is practically impossible, but I don't care. maps like King Sejong make my eyes bleed.)
Earlier in this thread, someone said putting in lighting=0 would help, but that doesn't change anything here. Thanks for your help.

Any suggestions for improving framerate a bit?

I tried these settings out on my PC and i liked them, however it caused some stuttering with my game
I have now reverted back to my original settings however i am still experiencing stuttering where before i was fine.
Can someone please help me? It's extremely frustrating

I want to ask this for a long time... Anyone knows why the shaders and general graphical feel of the game changes so muxh from map to map?
This drives me crazy. With low shaders this issue is fixed.

After experimenting with things for over an hour, black/pink textures seem to never be fixed without deleting the cache. Most of the steps listed in the OP for fixing it seem unnecessary, so I was trying to figure out which ones. I can't say 100%, but it seems like all you need to do is delete the cache, then (maybe) delete lighting=0, then LOW->ULTRA. Then swap in your ideal variables.txt
I found keeping another folder full of different versions of variables.txt works well, there is no sense in remaking your ideal variables.txt every single time. If it worked before and stops working, it's a cache issue. Just delete the existing one and swap in the one you want.
Beyond that, I also found setting variables.txt to read-only works well. I have all my swap-in-ready variable.txts set to read only.

So I just got an SSD, and reinstalled SC2 on it, but am having difficulties removing the "black ground" bug. Other than an SSD instead of an HDD, (and updated drivers on my GTX 560 Ti) I have the same setup as what I successfully used Hybrid settings one before.
I've followed the directions in the OP exactly, but the bug is still there. I've followed the steps in the OP to correct for the black ground, but it is still there. I've even copy/pasted the same variables.txt file that I know worked for me when I was booting from my HDD into my SSD's version of that file, but no luck

This didn't work either. Anyone have anything else that I can try?

most likely offtopic (because it has nothing to do with hybrid settings). Did someone noticed that the game plays more fluently with stronger color (blizzard thing) than without it?
|
I had a lot of trouble getting rid of pink and black ground at first. Eventually I did, and since then I've just been deleting cache and replacing variables.txt with my desired one and I haven't encountered the problem again. I can't expect it will be this simple for everyone though, I wish you luck in figuring it out.

Another datapoint - I just had pink/black textures again, even though I followed my normal procedure. I closed the game, deleted just the cache and tried again and it worked. If it happens again I'll just keep closing the game, deleting the cache and trying again and if this procedure fails to work I'll post about it.

I used the hyrid settings for a while, but today I played toss for the first time and noticed, that pylonpower sadly DOES suck (It looks like on low settings). I tried to fix this, via resetting the variables and settings multiple times, following the troubleshooting for pink groud and finally manually edititing values in variables.txt to check what was causing the problem, but I got a bit ... annoyed. So here I am presenting my issue to you fine folks :D

It's not related to HybridSettings but to preset. So go for medium preset and then apply HS. Add particlelod=1 for MSC warping animation.
