I think I've tried those after seeing a friend who is a psychiatrist, they made me feel like shit, with huge swings from happiness and hyperactivity to fatigue. I'm sure there is a non-chemical solution to my problem, medicine is only supposed to make you feel good, not solve life's problems. Then again, neither does alcohol or weed. Thanks for your advice, though.

its more of a habit then addiction. instead of coming home and go to the fridge for a beer, y not go to the gym and work out. its the habit u r trying to get rid its not addiction.

People DO get addicted to alcohol, I'm pretty sure. The body craves alcohol after a certain point.

He's not addicted yet.
Drinkin solo (often atleast) will sure make you become one down the road though. When you say you drink by yourself, are you talking about a beer or two with dinner or watching a game? Or like 6+ beers, trying to get drunk? If the latter, then you've gotta chill out. Otherwise you're fine.
Drinking 2x a week isn't shit. Hell, it's surprising at 29 that you still do it that frequently. Most of the people I know that age can't handle it lol. Don't listen to any tight asses on here that tell you 2 x a week is alcoholism.

Who's the tool here?
Do you seriously think problems in life come down to serotonin? The issues that makes you feel bad will still be there no matter how much serotonin you get

I don't think he was being sarcastic either.
Well fana, with that attitude you won't solve anything

The issues that makes you feel bad will still be there no matter how much serotonin you get No problems in life don't come down to seratonin. But if you're "feeling angry all the time" then thats a TEXTBOOK SYMPTOM OF A LACK OF SERATONIN. Theres of course a lot more to it, but I'm not going to hold a therapist session on the TL.net forum. Don't critisize me on something you have no clue about.
Seratonin treatment isn't a "quick fix" or supposed to make everything better. It's simply 1 step toward getting out of depression. Theres a lot of personal work that goes into dealing with your own issues, but a lot of people find that when the brain has the proper levels of seratonin, its a LOT easier to do so. Some don't.
Did I ever say "All of life's problems come down to seratonin"? Read my fucking post. Don't put words in my mouth.

Tadzio, it is really risky for you to try to "treat" your problems through alcohol. You are setting yourself up for a serious drug problem and many health problems related to that.
You seem to be saying you use alcohol to treat your anxiety and depression. The problem with this is that you aren't really addressing your problems, which are the anxiety and depression, and the traumas that caused the anxiety and depression. You are putting a band-aid on cancer, but even this analogy is poor, since I don't know of any horrible side effects of using band aids, whereas alcohol will likely increase your depression (strong correlation between alcohol use and depression) and anxiety (alcohol is known to increase anxiety in the long run, primarily when the high wears off).
Life is sometimes very difficult and painful. But difficult and painful experiences can make us stronger and wiser. But for that to happen, we have to face the difficulty and pain directly. In this way, you will learn to adapt. You will become wiser. You will be better able to cope in the future, and you will be better able to help others who face the difficulties you once faced.
Social anxiety is really common. Many people turn to alcohol and drugs to cope. But imagine, if you face your anxiety soberly, you will begin to adapt to nervousness and anxiety, and the anxiety will begin to subside. What was once difficult will then be easy. And your self esteem will be improved, because you know you overcame a difficulty, not relying on a crutch.
Alcohol use (and abuse) can be immensely pleasurable. Of course it is, or so many people would not turn to it. But don't confuse pleasure for health. Don't confuse pleasure with growth.
Try to face life directly and overcome your difficulties honestly.
Some things I recommend: 1) Daily exercise - I recommend the bicycle. 2) Daily sunshine on as much of your body as possible - but never burn. 3) Healthy diet of whole organic foods, including lots of raw seeds, nuts, fruits, and veges. Limit refined sugar and processed foods.

Seriously now...let's say you dislike work alot and your girlfriend is yelling at you all the time, thus you feel angry.
Are you telling me the cure to this is to eat anti-depressants? No offense you but you are a fucking tool. I bet I know more about this than you do, so just stop assuming you are all-knowing or whatever
Yeah it is just that, a quick fix. I disagree with everything your post said

What Inky said, he really nailed it.

I agree with this, but if possible, I would also add to surround yourself with family and friends (unless of course you have some history with them that precludes this).
I suffer from anxiety disorder myself, and I feel much better when I'm around other people, as well as the things listed above. Regular sleep schedule, exercise, sunlight, diet, etc.
