You wouldn't be the first, or the last, person in the Smash community to come out. Strangely enough, the fighting game community as a whole has been quite accepting of members of the LGBT community despite having a strong veneer of machismo culture surrounding the activity. Talk to prog.

Personally, I think it's best to be ready for both possibilities and just to do it when you find the best time. Dropping the hints is also a good idea as well. Best of luck and keep us updated!

seriously though lots of the things that happen in guy only conversations is just posturing for male dominance. show you've got more testosterone and shit. i don't know if they'd be okay with it, but that conversation and the rest of your story doesn't make me think they wouldn't accept you. you're eventually going to transition. if you decide to disappear, you lose them. if you tell them, you might lose them or they might accept you. pretty sure the choice is clear.

If they are good people, I don't think there's much to fear.

Sometimes people just say shit, I dunno. While it can be offensive or insensitive that doesn't mean there's any phobic intention behind it. I hang out with quite a few people who use "gay" and "faggot" pejoratively but they don't actually treat people differently just cause they're gay or genderqueer or whatever. I mean, the conversation you posted does demonstrate that they can use insensitive language but it doesn't mean that they'd suddenly turn around and hate you just cause you came out. Don't get me wrong, it's possible which is unfortunate. But the conversation doesn't strike me as a terribly big deal in terms of whether they'd accept you after coming out or not.

- You can hang out with them as you are currently - It's likely they suspect you're gay or something to that ilk (or "effeminate" or whatever the words used today are, I didn't get the memo) - They don't seem to care and have accepted that about you It's likely that they have simply accepted you for who you are and won't care what you want to be. I work in the games industry and it's kind of an old boys club in the rooms without any women in (and there are some, as you would expect) with the humour swirling around the toilet. Then we go home to our families and partners and act like reasonable human beings. These people seem to enjoy your company and I can't imagine that changing because you came out to them.

If they say something offensive, it's still offensive even if they say "oh just kidding" afterwards, or if they say it in a funny voice or something. Of course I could be complaining about this for no reason, they might shape up after I tell them and everything would be fine. It's too hard to tell. While you're right and saying offensive things doesn't matter if it's a joke or not, you have to consider that people are different people in different contexts. It's quite possible for someone to act very bigoted because they think they're in a context where it's "ok" to do so (they think they're with a bunch of other straight men, so offensive things aren't directly hurting anyone), while if they knew about you they'd be more respectful (maybe). Btw I don't really know what you meant by this line: Me: I thought the whole point is that sheik is a man Sheik = Zelda, right? It's just a disguise? Also it's pretty unusual IMO for straight men to play with each other's hair. Maybe Jordan is subconsciously aware of your femininity and is now very confused.

Plausibly Zelda can actually turn herself into a man, but why would she do this, just to perfect the disguise? p.s. Link to the Past is possibly the greatest single player game of all time, play it!
