My first contact with Starcraft was back in like 2001-2002 when I was so into Red Alert 2 and the Command and Conquer series and played the hell out of both. This was back with 56k and I saw that Blizzard, the company who made Diablo 2 had released a space RTS called Starcraft. Back when Kazaa and bearshare were cool I would try to download Starcraft but I couldn't get it, so I just got the demo. Now playing my first multiplayer game online in a TvT I had only one rax building marines, didn't even get additional workers and got stomped by like 20 marines. I asked the guy how he got so many and he said he just built barracks. I got confused because in Red Alert, you only needed one barracks and such.
I continued to look into more info about the game and before Youtube I didn't learn so I was like fuck it. But I came across an article about eSports and found about BoxeR and Nada and fell in love with the scene.
My cousin then introduced me to Counter-Strike where I began my career in eSports. (Kinda) I wanted to be in CAL and WCG. And thanks to wikipedia I was able to get more info about Starcraft and the eSports scene.
2004.
Finally got internet, and I watched brood war videos. Didn't really play, because I kept losing and the guides never really helped me.
2009.
I graduated high school with no career in eSports but I showed the class how serious Starcraft was in Korea and how much I enjoyed watching it.
2011.
My gaming clan was formed with closed-knit friends who plays various games including mmorpgs and competitive games. I also started my Starcraft career able to play in various online and local tournaments. Earned Prized Money: $4
2013.
Lost interest in Starcraft after HotS came out and decided to go pro in Hearthstone and CS:GO. Never happened. Tried Brood War again on the fish server and joined a newbie fish clan. Still bad at it. Quit Starcraft forever. Barely followed the scene.
2014.
I started Brood War after I remember being subscribed to MedryBW on Twitch and just kept watching it for the past week. Started up Brood War and remembered why I love this game. The people who came to watch me stream were the same people who were there when I first started and I'm glad they came back. Now I have people to talk to on ICCUP.
I joined SeT) as a team manager and been playing and casting games every chance I get.
I want to be a brood war commentator.
I'm going to host a Brood War Tournament with a $50 prizepool. I'm ready to do this.
tldr: Started Starcraft. Quit. Played again. Fell in love like the game was my first GF.
