A lot of action went down, so let's take a sec and reflect on what had happened in the game until now. PianO did a standard bio build, whereas hero went Crazy Zerg (skip lurkers into hive) with just a few mutas, and fast defilers with double den for plague and consume and double evo chambers for upgrades. The zerg was on 2 gas bases and 2 mineral-only bases, threw away just a handful of mutas, and got away with Crazy Zerg with a reasonable number of sunkens, virtually unpunished.
Getting his third gas up proved to be a challenge though, as PianO had near perfect map awareness with random firebats camping all bases and instantly pressuring any gas bases hero showed interest in. Finally, hero secured himself the so much needed gas, but he had still been forced to use most of it just to deflect PianO's drops, which would only increase in frequency and deadliness.
This whole time, hero had been pretty much in the dark. With zero map presence, deflecting drops or eraser vessels is rather difficult, as PianO knows well and likes to abuse at every opportunity he smells.
Like this one. - These are not the same two vessels btw.
Or this one.
Or this one.
Or this one.
In the midst of all this, PianO still gathers a large enough ground force to yet again contest hero's third gas, which makes his fourth base at 6시 safe from any runbies. No tanks, no bunkers, no turrets, no idle units, this is how you play bio. hero manages to deflect the bio attack with nice dark swarms though. This finally gives hero the chance to counter attack, but that exposes him, and PianO is certainly not suffering from lategame APM deficiency...
The zerg, on the other hand, seems to be slowly falling apart. With his main mined out, and 5시 droneless, he is effectively on two mining bases, and this is what they look like:
PianO is running dry too though, so he sets up to take 9시, finally giving hero some space to get agressive. And the lack of defence coupled with a short interruption in mining means rough times for the terran.
When in doubt, drop.
PianO drops over the ledge, sneaks into the base to snipe the nydus and a good number of drones, but the base survives.
Drop.
Zerg's counter attacks are deflected by a single firebat in a bunker, and this is not how hero imagined the reconstruction of one of his two gas bases:
So much for this one.
Meanwhile...
Not quite...
While hero deals with that one easily, what comes next catches our struggling hero totally off-guard:
Tip: Drones sometimes explode in death because of a resource they carry.
PianO's 9시 has been assaulted continuously by ling-ultra-defiler and faired well, but his other base at 6시 has mostly been abandoned, as hero's presence at the bottom right corner of the map is quite convenient for launching small guerilla attacks. The terran's had enough of that.
PianO, surprised to just march into this base high-fiving defilers under dark swarm, drops as well in celebration.
hero loses a few drones and his extractor, but survives, just to receive another unexpected visit:
Shortly after, hero realizes that he's been starving PianO pretty well and the drop heavy play of the terran could just be his downfall. With another drop coming to his base, he decides to simply abandon it, gathering an ultra-ling group to assault the 3시 where he meets little resistance. He instantly turns around to the 6시 where he also wreaks havoc, leaving PianO with zero income and just a handful of M&M and vessels to his name.
It takes PianO too much time to resume mining and in this time, hero does his homework.
And that, kids, is how you do it.
Pretty cool game, go watch it. PianO still #1
