So I saw there was a thread on c-walking, I thought I'd also make a thread on melbourne shuffling. Melbourne Shulffing(MS) is a relatively underground dance, first originating in the 1980's. Its mostly a dance using the lower body(legs), but can also include a lot of upper body.
The "newstyle" MSers today usually stomp to hardstyle, but MS can also be done to electro, dance, techno, trance, even RNB. I generally prefer the latter.
I started shuffling when I made a thread on clubbing, and now around 3 weeks of practice at exactly 1 hour a day, I've reached a presentable level(I don't look bad at all when shuffling).
Just wondering if anyone is interested in learning with me, I'm just here to spread the joy that is shuffling.
Here are some of my favorite videos...(I didn't include hardstyle shuffle, but generally the majority of youtube contains hardstyle shuffle)
Looking to learn? Bigmilan taught me most of everything I know today...
Nate is also a good one for the hand movements and more tips
And if your gonna go to a melbourne shuffle forum, don't go to melbshuffle.com (generally the underage hang out there) Instead go to http://shufflin.com/ (more mature, many more tutorials, nice community)
I love this kind of dancing and definitely want to learn. I'd only seen it done to hardstyle before so this was really fun to see. The only thing I don't like is the baseball cap flipping and switching but as a girl I'm better off without it I think. And the moves are very adaptable, mixed with some liquid and pop and lockin this can be very cool to watch if done right. If it took you only three weeks I'm inspired to get trying, then maybe I won't be 'dancing like my dad' at sensation next year.
omfg, i used to see emos and high schooler do this on flinders station in melbourne. god damn they look like a bunch of retards. guess they don't do it right.

They did it right, it is just retarded. As far as im concerned dancing (except with a partner) shouldnt be practiced, it should only be practised. And the melbourne shuffle isnt underground at all, kids from like 6 will be doing it over here in like 1 month, newest fad right after jumping(which is equaly retarded).
This is kind of cool, actually, and I normally don't like dancing. I've seen people doing similar things, but they looked like idiots. I'm guessing they were still learning, or were just acting like dumbasses.
op: those first 3 videos are HORRIBLE examples of the MS. for one thing, its with reggaeton music hence, that's the way he was dancing. but the 4th video was "ok" as a beginner.. but the track was pretty dope.. mixing some hip hop and trance. came out to nice beats.
i know you didn't wanna post hardstyle but you should include some of the official MS contests in melbourne. then people will understand the true nature of the dance.
but GL to those trying it out. it gets frustrating at first, but like everything in the world.. practice makes perfect (or close to it ;0)
