Has there ever been a "good" lava texture map yet? As much as people say they vote for the "better" map, let's be honest here, a lot of people vote for the best looking map. Sadly. I really should give up on dark tilesets, they seem to be the best way to make a map lose. Maybe the reason it placed so low could also have been just because it's "too standard"? (not that there's anything wrong with that of course, I love well-made standard maps like that one, but just the majority's preference)
Aren't rank 1, 3 and 4 all very standard maps?

So.. by my last count there are a few hundred maps on TL since sc2 launch, that would mean only 3 or 4 should have been "laddered in"?

What? I never said that :D Standard maps are perfectly fine and it is challenging enough to come up with yet new layouts within the given boundaries. I was only referring to maps that try to stand out from the standard.
There have been dozens of maps which would have made great ladder maps, but got overlooked.

I meant that since beta release, 3 or 4 maps that are NOT standard (whatever that means) could/should have been laddered in...
By my count only the lava map got in (which speaks volumes about blizzard's choices from where I am sitting),
.. my understanding of what you said is that only 3 or 4 of those "non standard yet interesting" maps could/should have got in...
Sorry for the misunderstanding, I am not discussing "standard" but only non standard / quirky / out of the box (whatever people call them..)
I was just trying to get people's opinion on the matter (yours first of course) on which ones you felt were "ladder good enough"
(for instance, the teleporter or special zones' maps (reducing speed or lowering hp of units ...?)

Here's my entry for this month. Standard map is standard.

Alright, submissions für July are now closed. Newer map threads will be considered for next month
After looking through all the submissions, I think this is going to be a good month!

There are a lot of pretty good maps, and from only a month's work! I'm happy about that Unfortunately many of them have problems that make them unplayable and/or are super boring.
These seem the most interesting while still being playable to me: Isomer Mockingbird Outpost Pantheon Nova Verge
These I really liked but wanted to see something different in order to pull it together. When the voting comes out I'll probably be more thorough in my critiques. Tar Samarra Mines Fen Enchanted Scar Oasis
