Hello all.
I have been thinking of starting to write battle reports. I have co-written one before, and I would like to strike out on my own, but there is one problem...I suck at BroodWar.
But you don't, so maybe that problem has a simple fix.
I am hereby sending out a request for replays so that I may begin reporting. (of course, I will post on either the blog or a thread at TL, so you can all read them when I finish.)
The Rules: 1. Must be 1 on 1 games, anything more than that is hard to keep track of in a report. 2. No fastest map games, or other variants, I don't think this really needs explaining. 3. I don't want a replay of you "pwning sum n00b", the closer the players are in skill level, the more interesting the report. 4. You don't have to be gosu, but both players should be reasonably skilled. 5. This isn't really a rule, but a request. The replay should have something that makes it stand out, like a comeback victory, or an off the wall strategy. "By the book" games, although beautiful in their own right, don't make for interesting re-tellings.
With your reps, please post a few lines about the replay, and why you think it would make for an interesting report. Assuming that more than one person will respond to this, I will try to let the person who's replay I chose know ahead of time, or maybe just post the one I chose here.
P.S. I know a way exists, but how does one watch replays from older patches?

look for the game from A2 vs White.ra recenlty posted. That should be interesting to report. It's an intense PvP with great shuttle usage.

btw, i think it would be better if you wrote reports of pro games (like the ones haji post in Starcraft TiVo, for exampel), it would get you more readers and possible a news or featured thread if it's good enough. This if it is possible to do it from VODs and not replays, of course.

Yes i also think that it's better if you write battle reports about semi-pros (pros which aren't well known by the community), because it will certain arouse reader's interest more. Just search for some replays and choose the ones you can write a lot on.

How good is semi-decent? I'm not sure if you are limiting this to the level of 'known' players or not.

To watch older replays you need the old .exe files. Run starcraft113.exe etc. I don't have a link yet to the exe.

I just want to avoid reporting on such things as two players repeatedly throwing massive amounts of the same unit at eachother until one wins. I actually want to avoid known players, if possible, I just want the skill level to be > or = to the average pub.
As for the questions about reporting on pro games, with school, I am afraid I would not be able to write the reports in a timely enough manner to be of any use. I have a great deal of respect for Haji and Semioldguy, who have added a new degree of difficulty to there reports by putting themselves on a tight schedule, but I just can't make that same effort.
I'm looking for your replays, games you have played.

Instead of doing battle report on the korean leagues, which most people will figure out the results before you finish if you don't start writing shortly after they finish, you could battle report on some replays/games between top foreigners. This makes it so that a lot of the people on TL will still care about the results and players in the report, but would be less likely to already know most of the details, making it less of a necessity to be released right after the game happens. Recent ones would probably still be better though.
