That was false information. An extensive report on the shield guy here nu - wrong. german monitor report posted earlier shows that shots came from the hotel. ch - A german monitor report that proves the shield guy was shot from Hotel Ukraine? I'm listening. nu - huh? read it for yourself. seems clear cut.
the report doesn't mention the shieldguy at all, nor did i. i refuse to be held accountable for your ineptitude. this silliness is on you two. nuff said.
@roman ah, you're almost there then. i'm indeed pointing out hypocricy. i seldom chastize ppl for indulging in conspiracy theories, i quite enjoy them myself. i even mark them with spoilered tinfoiler from time to time.
you make me sick

are you purposefully trying to shit up the thread by pretending to be dense and i'm falling for it? it stops now.
The topic of this thread is the Ukraine Crisis and its political implications, not semantics or petty bickering. You can either take this stupid discussion to PMs, or warnings and bans will be handed out accordingly.

Yeah, most people don't seem to know what is going on in Crimea now. The leader of the Tatars was banned from being in Crimea/Russia for at least five years, and today when there were rallies concerning the 70th anniversary of the Russians forcibly deporting most of the Crimean Tatars from their lands the Russian military has sent in helicopters against them as well as riot police from parts of Russia.
Not to mention how the Russians were marking their homes and burning down some of their businesses/homes before the annexation, as well as Tatars who were being kidnapped and tortured to death.
Sorry to quote my own post, but it was lost and I thought it might be an interesting thing to read. We really don't hear much from Crimea now that it has fallen under Russian control, and for all the claims of Ukrainian fascism, it seems like the Crimean Tatars actually ARE facing serious problems due to their beliefs/ethnicity.
I'm about to watch this 25 minute documentary by al jazeera. Thought it might interest some of you (since al jazeera seems to post relatively neutral information concerning the Ukraine conflict)

Why I am not surprised. Probably the whole mess will end up with mass deportations. It is not like USSR/Russia does not have experience in doing that. Putin woke up a lot of nationalist sentiments with his foreign adventures and playing victim of the West rethoric.

wtf? Al Jazeera doesn't want Americans to watch their video :p ? Probably some weird youtube issue, but strange nonetheless (I'm watching from Poland).
It was done by an al jazeera reporter who travelled from kyiv to crimea to lviv to Kharkiv, from the beginning of the protests till the end. It focused on showing people's views on the situation, and tried to downplay the cultural divide between between East and West Ukraine. Russian-Ukrainians and Ukrainians aren't enemies and it is the Russian propaganda that is causing any divide.
One of the most interesting points the video made was about the difference between youth and older people in E. Ukraine. Older people remember Soviet times and Soviet "glory", and thus feel a stronger connection to Russia. Younger folk spent their formative years in an independent Ukraine and feel much stronger attachment to Ukraine than Russia. They quoted a poll performed by a University stating that less than 1 in 10 E. Ukrainians want to become part of Russia. This bodes well for national reconciliation down the road.
The video made me think that maybe this whole conflict that Russia is implicitly supporting will in the end backfire and in the end help unite Ukraine. I sure hope so!

on the al jazeera english channel, i can only see 7 of their 49k+ videos the rest are all region blocked
edit: it's also possible that i just dont understand how to navigate youtube, since doing some searches got me some videos that i couldn't find on their channel page. Idk wtf is going on. Still, a bunch of their vids are region blocked for me.
edit: I think al jazeera is such a really good source of news and pretty unbiased (unless it's covering subjects sensitive to Qatar). Wreaks of US politics intervening...
edit2: RT is broadcast in the USA without issues, so maybe it's probably just the deal that Al Jazeera signed with cable providers as the article says.

Aligarh Poroshinko will be new president of Ukraine. Ordinary ukrainians form west of country are fucked by economic situation, people from east are fucked and killed by their own ukrainian army, people from Odessa are fucked and burned by "praviy sektor"...............
