I wanted to write this blog a few days ago already. Now it's about time....
Do you know those comments:
"map hacking?" "shut up map hacker f u" "ofc, hack more" "oh youre hacking" "even with your hacks you can't win"
It starts to annoy me. Every now and then we get threads popping up like that: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=434062 http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=427608 all over the forums and everyone in the game feels entitled to report you for hacking:
yeah right, I must be hacking to hold the watchtower when you move through it, have a marine to spot and then scan where it was to see what you do:
And yeah, when I see a double gas from a zerg at 4:30 and no third and roaches at the front with double evos researching early, I must be hacking to build marauders and tanks. And yes, when I keep on attacking with my mutalisks from a certain angle and happen to kill a dropship that is crazy enough to fly through there (which is the closest way to my base by air btw), I must be hacking.
Get real crybabies. There may be hackers. But that does not make everyone who plays properly or just gets lucky a hacker. And maybe check a replay once, before you (claim to) report, ok? You may even learn something from those opponents, who seem to use good reactions to your play.

The more ppl who call you hacker the better you are, just bathe in their tears and be happy
|
I run into that kind of people occasionally as well, no use doing anything else than ignoring them really. They're just frustrated with the game and their play so it's an easy solution to just blame it on someone cheating however vague or unjustified the accusations might be. Just like people mindlessly flaming and shit talking for the hell of it these guys really don't deserve your attention
|
Yeah. Had a game with crazy luck where i sniped two full medivac kind of like by accident. You know "Oh cool there's a medivac here" and you get called on.
I just respond something among the lines like : "Yeah i hack since the beta of Warcraft III" just to see if i make it to the hacker thread :p
Never happened though
Sometimes you play a guy and he is fishy as hell. You watch the replay and you're like : "Oh... no. I'm just that bad and he saw every move".

Live on in blissful ignorance. *LOTS* of people are maphacking. That's why it's common for people to assume that you are, too. I've gone over the replays of fishy ladder games maybe a few dozen times, and they've been definitely hacking at least 2/3 of them. Those are just the people that are bad enough at it to be obvious for me to CHECK.
|
I was accused of hacking recently in CSGO and I couldn't blame the guy, I had two wild lucky shots in a row. Hacking is present enough that people are dubious, you can hardly blame them.

Sorry, but you are defending people that make unfounded accusations. There is nothing wrong with being dubious if you can't explain what happened in a game. It's the childish accuse and report everybody who beat me behaviour that bothers me.

I'm pretty sure that 99% and more are not maphacking, so only a jerk accuses without second checking.

There aren't lots of people hacking, however the reason people say you're hacking is the same reason people complain about balance, it shifts the reason for the loss off yourself and onto something out of your control, retaining your false ego.

I don't know why you care

And yet you are here. I guess it's just a little idealism that makes me write this. Hoping that someone might reconsider the next time he wants to throw out a stupid accusation.

No offense but this seems just like a bragging post. "Hey look at me! I'm good enough to get accused of hacking!"
This happens everyday to almost everyone at some point, it's hardly something you'd write a blog about

I'm in a bunch of places discussing a bunch of topics!
I'm here saying that you shouldn't let it bother you. When people accuse you of hacking and you know you're not hacking, just take it as a compliment and be amused. That's what I do. You won't get rid of idiots so easily.

I meant: well, you don't make threads. But you still like to discuss it

This happens everyday to almost everyone at some point, it's hardly something you'd write a blog about The purpose of a blog is to chronicle the thoughts, opinions, perspectives, and experiences of an individual for others to read. You may not agree with Big J's point of view, nor his inclination to write a blog about it, but this is precisely the sort of content a blog is for.
For instance, yesterday the elevator at work started smoking and fuming because the transformer or whatever started going nuts, and we had to evacuate the building until the firefighters and engineers who showed up deemed the place safe again. I'm clearly not the only person to experience this since the beginning of time; does that make me ineligible to write a blog about it? Am I saying, "Hey, look at me! I'm a badass for being so smooth and collected in a time of potential danger!"... or am I just wanting to share an experience?

To be fair in CS you are never good. You are : "Cheater/Hacker" or "Noob". You never see anything between it

I want to read that blog

I got accused of hacking in bw a few times. I cherished those moments because generally I was just a nub getting stomped.

Getting called a hacker when you didn't cheat is pretty great imho, it means that you outplayed your opponent so hard that they can't even understand why they lost.
