WAY too much. I respectfully disagree. This is not 2012. 2012 was tough. Really tough. But this year is impossible.
I'm not seeing it, sorry. In 2012, I never had a problem watching a tournament of some kind going on at any time. I'm finding times where I look at the Live Streams and Events listing, and I just can't find anything.
+ Show Spoiler +Sure, I could watch avilo stream, but he's not my preferred meching terran stream. Or CatZ. But specifically tournament or competitive games? Nope.
But damn, if I want to watch Hearthstone and rage at the people playing for taking too damn long...
... did I just channel Wax?

Tis a vicious circle if you adopt that mentality y'know, may as well make arbitrary cutoffs as to what is acceptable/not in an LR thread. of course, but up until your post i didn't see anyone really being rude or negative in my opinion, then you came along and made a (seemingly angry) post saying "STOP BEING SO NEGATIVE!!!" it just seemed odd to me. but it's all a matter of interpretations, so it's obviously not a big deal. i just think if you want to discourage people from being negative, yelling at them might not be the best deterrent not trying to insult or criticize though

Yeah but I don't skip the playoffs if the Patriots miss them. (American football reference) If you can't bring yourself to watch the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS because Scarlett isn't there, then you aren't a fan of SC2. I stand by it. i never understood this. what does it mean that you aren't a fan/real fan? and so what if you aren't? does that mean i don't get to sit at the real fans table? i'm not trying to start an argument, i just don't get the point of saying it. to me a fan is someone who follows the game at all. it's not a competition of who likes the game more. some people are into it a little bit and some people are into it a lot It's a simple distinction between being a fan of the game itself, and being a fan/supporter of a player/team, with maybe only a passing interest in the scene as a whole. I mean, if I stop watching a tennis tournament because say, Roger Federer is out, versus a guy who watches all the way to completion regardless, it's not to say you're not a 'real' fan perhaps, but he'd definitely be considered a more dedicated/neutral one to me. my question was what is the point of the distinction? i always see the "real" fans talking about who is or isn't a "real fan", and i'm talking about real sports too where i've seen the same thing (baseball football etc.). i'm honestly just at a loss for why you would say to someone "you're not a real fan!" like, what are they supposed to do? apologize? No I guess they are supposed to just not watch? Idk. I dunno maybe my statement was dumb

Either way I'm not sure what I care about more. With Naniwa, Blizzcon gets viewers and Starcraft prospers, but I have to watch him. If he isn't there, I will feel better inside but we will have less viewers. It is a tough decision which side to take.

Sc will prosper fine with or without Naniwa being at Blizzcon.

Haha you realize that's how the vast majority of people think right? Why would I watch sports if my favourite team is not there? Sure I may watch the Superbowl or the Stanley Cup because it is a major once per year event, but there is no way I'm watching games that my favorite team or player isn't playing in. And I DEFINATELY wont watch games where I have to watch a player I hate (in this case Naniwa). If I only cared about Starcraft scene for the games, I would just go and play myself. Most people might be more likely to watch if their favourites are involved sure, but major sporting events have viewing figures that absolutely dwarf the entire populations of the competing nations/teams oftenplace.
Why would you not watch a player you hate, and root against him?
WCS Finals are meant to be the equivalent of the aforementioned events, the World Championship after all?
Watching the competitive scene for quality of games and going to play the game yourself are different. I mean I can go and pass a football around, it's not the same thing as watching the pros doing it from the comfort of my own home, with the fans and the atmosphere and the excitement around it.

Shh, you're disrupting the storyline.
Although Naniwa even being in contention for the spot, alongside Scarlett until she lost tonight, might say something to the wider community as a whole. They both have spent an awful lot of time in Korea, even if Naniwa hasn't been there in 6 months.
+ Show Spoiler +Is there something in the water? I think there's something in the water. + Show Spoiler + Maybe it's the pocari sweat.

I'd agree with you to be fair on the streamers, or at least the very, very top-notch players seem to stream a bit less.
WCS alone takes up a hell of a lot of time though with my current schedule.

I am hoping that Naniwa makes it because we really need a foreigner at Blizzcon to increase interest in the tournament/ I am not optimistic though. I understand the percentages above but my guess is that it is highly unlikely that players such as Soo, Dear, Hyun or even Trap don't earn enough points in Season 3 finals to pass him in the standings. Which of course means Blizzcon simply becomes WCS Korea 2.0 and I think that will really hurt the interest in Blizzcon.

When WCS is fully running you can have a good 6 hours a day of quality tournament content on weekdays plus streams. So I think 2013 content level is pretty cool.

Random Twitch Bitch of the day -
"From xxx to xxx today, Twitch is commercial free thanks to the Playstation 4." Followed by a commercial for the PS4.
Repeatedly.
This time with tacked on Qualcomm snapdragon ad.
If Twitch is running just Sony ads, it's not exactly "commercial free" now, is it? Maybe if you dropped just that first 15 second notification.
I don't blame Twitch. I blame Sony for buying out the ad inventory and then claiming "Commercial Free! Because our singing guys aren't an ad! Honest!"

I haven't gotten those ads, that said I did sneak ad-block onto my gf's computer.
Alas I can't watch Twitch AT ALL at my place atm, fucking mandatory flash upgrades :@

Once upon a time, Flash was a great thing. It enabled so much wonderful things on the web.
Now it's a bloody pox on computer performance and I can't wait until it is enshrined in the dark depths of web technologies superceded. Like the blink and marquee tags. (I blame Adobe.)

To be honest, as someone who wasn't a big follower when he was at his peak I never really worshipped at his altar, but still sad to see him in his current shape.
