Just wanted to ask something someone like me never understands , first some background , I'm someone who was really good at age of empire and also really good at Broodwar ( A- iccup ) And for me rates are easy , unless that Starcraft 1
I'm not understanding why some people stay for example in gold , bronze or silver , why they dont get higher rank ? Some of them play a lot and still never go higher rank ? Some of my friends are really smart people but yet they are all gold and one of them diamond , they play a lot too , why they don't get higher rank ? They don't know how to improve ?
Got 2 Starcraft one buddy who was also really good at Broodwar and one of them got high master really really fast , and he never plays .....
For me , I picked Starcraft 2 and got diamond after 60 games or less , was master at 120-130 game, then for a while i was master , then high master and even the low grandmaster at the end .
Why that's so easy for me ? Why ? That's because of the Starcraft 1 background ?
For me Starcraft 2 really easy modes and from anyone who have played Broodwar they usually got it really easy , but what I'm not understanding , if that easy like that , why some people never got it and go higher rank and league after some practice ?
You got replay for building , you can watch the pro gamer do the build and watch them , what go wrong ? When you just copy it over ?
Everyone in my eye should be diamond or better , no excuse .

not everyone takes the game seriously or plays competitively. is that so hard to understand? it takes time and effort to improve, and most people probably don't want to commit either of those things. also, not everyone who plays watches pro matches

ugh don't make us bw fans look like jerks pls

Obvious troll is obvious. Or at the very least an insensitive braggart.
Ladder rank is a relative scale, not an absolute one. Bottom 8% must be bronze. Even if in 5 years time, if a player could play as well as the pros now, if 92% of the active player base is better than him, he will be in bronze and that's where he belongs. So no, it is impossible for everyone to be in diamond. The only way to rank up is to improve faster than everyone else.
Surely this is not difficult to comprehend for someone as smart and skilled as you ;D

lol you aren't very smart.

The leagues improve over time as players get better at the game.
Probably 90% of the current active player base could have gotten diamond when WoL was released, because everyone was terrible then. iccup is full of good players now because people have had 15 years to get good at SC1, give people time to get good at SC2.

1) Don't be so elitist
2) If, tomorrow, all bronze players and up suddenly developed diamond MMR, they would still be in bronze, because the game will automatically put people with the lowest MMR into Bronze. It doesn't matter their actual skill, there will just always be a statistically weakest player.
Also, that's very elitist.

Having prior RTS experience is a big help; you've already did the leg work to learning how mechanics of a game works, especially if you put 1000s of hours into BW. Imagine how difficult this game is for someone who just picked it up without playing bw/etc..
I've played on sponsored teams in WC3 and high level in BW too, so SC2 was easy to get high master/low GM, but I wouldnt call the game "easy" as a whole, because there is a good 1000-2000 players who are working harder than us trying to be a pro. Until you are consistently in the top 20 of GM without heavy loss records, this game is not "easy" - low GM can be achieved from a good understanding of the game and mass gaming in any one season.
But you have very little chance outside of a 1 game cheese to beat anyone of value in the SC2 pro scene. Your "A-" iccup rating wont matter there; this isnt a mechanical game in the end and it takes intelligence over "speed" - which is why many of the top BW players are struggling to win championships in SC2 (can you really argue Maru.Prime, a WC3 player if I believe, can out-macro Flash or Bogus?? No, but Maru is smart as hell and beat them with his strategy) - Thats why SC2 is a great RTS, it takes more than just copying a korean build and playing on auto-pilot... Which will take you to GM, but won't take you far in the pro circuit.

A while ago, I was playing some racing game called Auto Club Revolution and got a #1 lap time on an online leader board after only a couple weeks of playing.
+ Show Spoiler [I actually have proof unlike OP] +
Wow I'm so cool, I picked up a game and was one of the best players in it after only a very short period time playing it!
In actuality, I've been playing racing games pretty much since I can remember, so this feat is actually not as ridiculous as it seems.

Some people don't play the game to be pro. They do it for fun. Fun to them isn't memorizing build orders and playing strategically to get better. Fun for them is doing whatever the hell they want because they suck and their opponents suck to so they'll see what happens. You can't do that shit in diamond+. Everything above that is about mechanics and strategic choices and build orders. I suppose that's why I hear a lot of pros say that Starcraft 2 isn't fun to play.

Hi my name is Staboteur and I've never been the best at anything.
+ Show Spoiler +If someone is trying to get diamond for as long as you've played BW and still wasn't good enough, then there's something to talk about. Otherwise obviously people with no previous RTS experience and/or no will or drive to b gud aren't going to get grandmaster. The end.

For me , I learned English and got B2 CERF after 6 years or less , was C1 at 12-13 years, then for a while i was C1 , then high C1 and even the low C2 at the end .
Why that's so easy for me ? Why ? That's because of the Germanic language background ?
For me English really easy modes and from anyone who speaks German they usually got it really easy , but what I'm not understanding , if that easy like that , why some people never got it and go higher level after some practice ?
You got grammar books for building , you can watch actors speak the language and watch them , what go wrong ? When you just copy it over ?
Everyone in my eye should be B2 or better , no excuse .

Not everyone has the talent or work ethic to be in the NBA or be Kobe Bryant.
