OSL Keep Python, it is a well rounded map, with balanced positions and balances rush distances. Probably the most balanced map to come out for a couple of years.
Keep Fantasy, it show's alot of potential to be a very good map, but Gaema/Xeno games keep stinking it. I also love it.
Remove Monty Hall, it's a pathetically crappy map, and Zerg's cant really do anything on it, except against other Zergs.
Remove Hitchhiker, it's over its due date.
MSL Same comments for both Python and Monty Hall.
Keep Loki, it shows potential to be an extremely good map, reminiscent of Bifrost somewhat. The only problem that needs to be fixed is PvT balance.
Modify Desperado so it becomes Neo Desperado or Despardo II or some crap like that. It's shown some nice games, but unfortunately, they usually end very quick, thus not kicking in the macro part of the game, which is where the map revolves around. Maybe fix the rush distances or something.
Proleague Remove Geometry, TERRIBLE map, Too many TvT's which usually end up really boring for both the spectators and the professionals. Risk sending out a different race and get eaten by a Terran alive.
Remove Nemesis, another terrible map. Causing either boring "I contain you and expand" games, "Let me turtle and overrun you" games and "Let me be gay so I can force a draw while you have all the map because I know I've lost" games.
Remove both Tau Cross and Sin Peaks of Baekdu, great, balanced maps, but they are getting old.
Python and Monty Hall as discussed before, stays the same stance.
Modify Chariots of Fire, it is a very interesting map with an interesting concept. Maybe fix some stuff a bit, maybe enlargen the outside and desize the middle.
Remove Vampire, great 2v2 map, but it's old.

Monty Hall is a disgraceful map, using it in Proleague is one thing and is acceptable in a way, using it once in a Bo5 series already sucks big time if there's a Zerg involved. Using it in a Bo3 set is simply ridiculous, and using it in Star Challenge or any dual style group, is plain out outrageous, if you're rooting for a Zerg player to advance you're bound to get all red angry and frustrated. I can't see how they possible consider it fair.

Monty Hall / Nemesis / Geometry led to some fun games but the Superfight was enough!
At this point their imba's are really getting annoying.

Almost totally agree, Loki needs balancing, badly enough for me to call a Neo Loki necessary for it to be used again (zerg is too powerful vs toss etc)
Hopefully in the next 'batch' of maps we'll see some dweb used (not DMZ style) and some cool concepts... while id like to see MSL go back to its roots, and go much more balanced, bland maps like stealing python and say introducing a new island concept map
but we'll see

I like Monty Hall, i'd like them to edit it so it's more balanced for zvt rather than removing it.
Hitchhiker isn't really that old, but it's the oldest of them, so it should go, although i like it a lot.
I hope MSL doesn't try again a new island concept map... That's how Desert Fox was created
PL needs a lot of new maps, or maybe they can steal HH, it's not that old and it's a good entertaining map

Good analysis and I agree with most of your points... I do like Monty Hall though... It's cheese-tastic

Agreed with Nemesis part, but I enjoyed watching some of the PvT on there. Also youre just mad cause Chalrenge pushed the game over an hour.

i hate monty hall the old maps like tau and peaks i wish could stay but it isnt reasonable to keep them for like 20 seasons
|
obviously, in the interests of fair play, monty hall will have to go or be heavily modified. i'll miss it when it's gone. entertaining games. it's nice having a protoss-oriented map around once in a while. i am in no way insinuating these players need to rely on map imba, but i'm sure it was a factor in reach's fairytale run and stork's double starleague bid.
another plus point is that in this particular season, i haven't been seeing any toss users whine about map imba..

Nemesis is imba PvP. there, happy?

Oh crap - it IS
Anyways, Monty Hall seems to be so retarded TvT nowadays ... remember oov vs Flash? "OH NOES MY UNITS CANT GET PAST THAT MINERAL WALL GG" That was the most retarded game I had seen in a while.

Monty Hall - plz die. Agreed about Nemesis - especially that last comment.
I think 2v2 games need to become more innovative. Perhaps a fantasy-style a-symmetrical sort of layout with 6 start positions?

They'll have a lot of new 1v1 maps to put in proleague, heh. I was thinking they could bring back some of the old OSL/MSL maps that didn't get much time to show their truly balanced selves (mainly Blitz X).
It seems sad that a map that had a lot of potential innovation like Monty Hall has to go, but its interesting features didn't make for balanced or particularly entertaining games. I was throwing around ideas like removing the mineral blocks in one lane (so only the middle lane would be blocked on both sides) or modifying the expansions so that each lane choice makes a difference, but it takes away from the whole mystery of 3 different paths that was intended.
Hopefully this will give mappers a better idea of what kind of innovation works and what doesn't in terms of the future.
