Conversely, TL has a much more forgiving view of other genres. I know a lot of TLers look favorably on Bioware or Bethesda RPGs when there are similarly elitist hardcore CRPG communities that essentially view those games the same way TLers might judge, say, the CnC series. I mean, "best" is probably meant to entail "most fun to play right now", and not "most influential" meaning historical significance isn't meant to be a defining factor in choosing the games on the list. That said, I'm still probably more likely to replay a lot of the predecessors to these games than the incarnations that got rated higher. I'm just going to go out on a limb and say you probably don't regularly replay Doom 1 at this point. I think you would be shocked how many people still play doom to this day. Just check out the doomworld forums, surprisingly large for a game made in 1993, hell the game has probably grown in the recent years. It just hasn't quickly transitioned to streaming as the community tended to use demos. Heck, the brutal doom mod has had 860000 downloads since release in 2010. EG.Puppey has played the game on stream etc and competnrecords speedrunning site is being reactivated. I couldn't care less about a top 100 games list but implying that doom is not played today is completely false. If a lot of people still play it today, I would assume that it's still "fun to play right now".

Yeah I can see his argument, but SS2 vs. Bioshock was actually a pretty shitty example to use because there are a lot of things that SS2 actually does do better than Bioshock, graphics aside.

Sounds good Yango, and if you need any help getting started with source ports etc etc etc, you can ask me, the walking doom encyclopedia. It has a long history, kind of like brood war in a way except insert speedrunning instead of e-sports. I get very passionate about doom

Really? The first hour of Skyrim was the best part of the whole game. The first dragon was pretty epic, and your first dragon kill was pretty epic. After that the game got pretty tedius.

Yep. Just a popularity contest, and thus completely void. While every single "top X games" list has their problems and I take issue with all of them, this is one of the worst lists I've ever seen. Fucking abysmal.

46. Dark Souls" LOL, how is DayZ even on this list, this game is the biggest failure ever (added Dark Souls just to show how idiotic this choice is).
