Seems like they're just pandering to a mass audience by listing the most popular games of recent years for the most part, rather than making a list of what they feel are actually the best games. | ||

The whole concept of a ranked list of best games is flawed in itself, though, because games released at different times have to be judged with different parameters and the parameters for older games inevitably become forgotten. Even if reviewers try to compensate for it (while discounting their nostalgia factor), newer games end up with the advantage. Can we say that by todays standards System Shock 2 is inferior to Bioshock? Sure. But how was it as an experience compared to other 1999 games? They did throw a bone to older gamers by having Deus Ex in the top 10, though | ||

I mean, Dragon Age: Origins over Baldur's Gate 2? Civ 5 instead of 4? Etc. Not to bash on their own personal oppinions, but looking at this list you'd think the last 20 years of games never happened :D | ||
