Pretty much the title.
Hellbats require no skill to use (I feel like they're actually worse when you try to micro) and they're too strong. They kill Tanks, Marauders, and buildings, pretty much everything that should counter them besides air units. They are always cost effecient, no matter how prepared your opponent is. They're just a dumb unit, why are they even in the game? It's not like Terran needed any more harassment units. Make mech more viable? I guess, Blizzard gave zerg units like Vipers and Swarm hosts that seem to hard counter mech, but suck vs. bio-mine. I guess they're ok vs toss to make mech more viable, but with the warp prism buff that'll go out the window because mech is too imobile. I don't see any problem just taking Hellbats out of the game, I certainly won't lose any sleep over it, might even gain some.
This is a semi-serious rage blog. That is all.

If you include your league, people can respond better to you.

Don't include your league. It's petty and actually makes people respond worse to you.
Leave the air of mystery.

This, if you tell your league people will most likely not take you seriously if you're below GM level, which is bullshit.

I too play terran, and find them rather annoying, but the harassment is fairly simple to shut down once you adjust your build and unit placement though.
Also, lol @ the bronze and silver players complaining about not being taken seriously.

im bronze league and i feel like hellbats are too strong. U just make a few of them and they kill all other units. I once got rushed and lost all my marines and scvs to just 4 hell bats @ 10 min mark
please blizzard fix hellbats, they are making the game hell for me.

While I wouldn't assert that people who complain about not being taken seriously are bronze and silver, I do think that people who aren't at least in masters should not complain about balance. It does not affect you. You aren't losing because Parting can hit with a lot of immortals, sentries and stalkers very early in the game or because banelings are cost ineffective against MKP's marines, you are losing because you suck. The only excuse a bad player can have for complaining about balance is if the problem hurts your experience as a spectator, and even then one should wait until it becomes a painfully obvious and universal problem.

I am only trolling because I have no idea what league the OP is. If he is at least master's, then this would be a discussion thread. but if he's bronze... like the person above u said, balance doesnt affect u

Diamond now, Master's last week, you happy?
Also, this isn't about balance, I think the game is balanced fine. I do think Hellbats are bs because I feel retarded when I don't use them and dirty when I do. Kinda like blue flame hellions back in that MLG where every slayers player used them, except you could easily shut down BF hellions with good map awareness and sim-city, plus they require micro. There's only so much you can do against hellbats while all the other guy has to do is afk drop hellbats in your mineral line, other than make more hellbats and therein lies the problem.

I wish blizzard gave us an ETA on when they will nerf them, would really help especially since MLG is coming up : / TvT used to be the most entertaining mirror matchup to both play and watch, now its definitely not.
|
I don't play SC2, but as someone who watches, the hellbat bothers me slightly more than that short period of time where TvT was about making 20 blue flames hellions and seeing who accidentally loses their economy first. Also the whole WHY CAN MEDIVACS HEAL THEM? thing
|
WHY CAN MEDIVACS HEAL THEM? I don't get why medivacs can heal them. They build out of the factory and look and behave like mechanised units. It's not as if they needed some kind of buff to make them healable.
|
Mine/Turret shuts down hellbat drops. I agree they can deal a lot of damage, but if its for a hellbat opener (double hellbat drop) its actually easy to defend and gives you a huge lead. Problem are macro builds with hellbats in them, but I would strongly disagree they are 'easy' to execute or require no skill. I would agree its harder to defend and takes more effort, but being a good dropper is hard too.
I know I felt the same as you do, but I tried and I can say that its not as easy as some people make it look, especially vs good players.

Balance decisions are made in the clouds far from mere mortals, up in the clouds with the heads of all Blizzard.

The whole Mech = Factory Units debacle is the cause of today's blog.
Nobody built the beta units because mech didn't work properly, so...they buffed the beta units.
Now everyone uses the beta units. It's truly glorious to behold =/

To prevent pure static mech.
Look at it this way: Medivacs are a big investment for a mech player.
Load of gas, minerals not so important but still a hit. You look at every mech unit and since they are mech you're investing 100/100 in a dropship that is quick/fragile, is easily killed by Z and P air, and has no other benefits for your army-it's easier to just try a hellion runby and allows you to keep the gas.
So, two dilemmas going into hots
1) How to help mech deal with durp chargelots walking all over the composition 2) How to stop mech players from turtling because apparently the way it worked in BW was so un-entertaining to watch that it killed ESPORTS
Making the hellbat healed by medivacs solves number 2, while the hellbat itself solves number one. Medivacs are now not entirely useless outside of drops, and mech has a way to deal with mass chargelots (tempests still suck though).
The end!
