I like the idea of capped posts. When we've got bastard mafias and multi-world mafias, I don't see why we can't entertain the idea of tinkering with post volume in a game.
Moreover, I don't think you can really use most past games as a good comparison, because this game allows PMs. Even if nobody chooses you to PM with, you're not limited to 25 posts, you're limited to 25 posts PLUS PMs to two players you choose. Doesn't seem like people are factoring in the partial-PM nature of the game when looking at the post count restriction.
Whether you change to silent nights or keep the current setup, I like the idea of removing the ability to give someone else posts. That bit seems like a lot of added complexity and side discussion that detracts from focus on the game itself.

I dont know how I feel about the PMs being allowed, I know we uphold great values here but I feel like they usually just lead to cheating and such.

if it cant be seen by everyone you never really know. friends both swearing they are town to eachother and that sort of stuff. Even just having 1 confident ally instead of zero is a pretty big advantage.

Vayne I know you're sort of new here, but no one is going to cheat; people don't get to be veteran mafia players on here by breaking the rules an ruining games for other people.
Also you can 'swear you're town' all you want but it's never 100%.
I guess it was probably BH's play in 'The Game' that brought this on? It's an interesting concept to be sure, but I'm with Palmar on this. If you want to discourage spamming to muck up the thread as a strategy then that can be dealt with through moderating; assuming that people just post for the hell of it or to up their post count seems absurd to me. I might personally play just as an exercise of improving my overall play and consolidating more, which I will admit I probably have a problem with.

actually no, I bring this up because I was here for the first mafia games here and people cheated like crazy through PMs/IRC and stuff.

Oh years ago, huh? Well I don't have much to say about that but as far as I can tell these days since the community on here is pretty tight, the honour system appears to work pretty well. Maybe because the idea was still new to TL back then?

um the reason PM's work is because there is a win condition, and everyone plays to win. This does make it easier for town I feel though.

I think any type of posting limit is scum favored though.

was just skimming and noticed this thread.
given that it's a PM game, I really doubt that anyone would notice a posting cap. 25 posts per cycle is pretty generous for a PM game, the last several times I played a PM game I found myself posting maybe 10-15 times per cycle, and I was still one of the most active players.
+ Show Spoiler [my 2 cents] +PM games have much bigger problems than this IMO, which is why I've strayed away from them despite repeatedly giving them chances to grow on me.

any friend worth having is a friend who'd lie to you in a game of mafia :D

post restrictions and PMs? This is a game I can get behind!

Edit: just read the thread, can we please have post restrictions back? If you don't like it, don't play it. It seems to me that there are several people signed up for whom the post restrictions were a plus not a negative.

I'm actually looking forwards to the post cap on a per-day basis. I don't see why it couldn't also be combined with silent nights!

Are we allowed to post PM conversations or give them to other people via PM?

I never saw anyone cheat on purpose :-/
+ on topic, I am even oaky with only 25 posts a day. Thats the reason why i joined this game. I think if people think more before they post, the game will be much more interesting to play. Longer posts and no chats in the thread. pretty cool.
