I feel he would make a different decision if WoL was still here. Maybe he earned the biggest amount of cash, but imo he isn't/never was the best foreigner. Dont get me wrong, I still think Stephano is a living legend of Starcraft 2 and had insane impact. pls. Stephano has been great since mid 2011. Is he now? While ppl like parting/life/mvp/roro could be a thing in wol, they are in hots too.
Better thing to focus on might be that Stephano actually won most of his major tournament wins before "the patch". His post-"the patch" wins include several high placements, but the only win was WCS EU.

Good luck to Stephano in the future. Welcome the age of the SuperiorWolf!!

He's stopped showing results. Once, I would have been sad, but now I can only agree.

Not entirely unexpected. You cannot understate the social prestige of being a doctor, vs being a gamer.

He never was that great of a player, but that clever and lucky bastard farmed foreign tourneys for everything he good in wings. Best of luck to you Stephano. I hope you put more effort into your studies than you did SC2. You're obviously a naturally gifted person.

man, sad day but probably the right decision for him. GL in the future and thanks for all the great games! (And gl for the transition, I guess being a student is quite different from the live as a progamer^^)

August 15th. Happy birthday to me

Its sad to see stephan go out like this. He exploded into the scene with his win at IPL and then he just kinda retires....

Price money is lower, chances to win are lower and he promised to his parents. Smart move.

Ideal western progaming career - have fun for few years, earn $$, go back to "real" life.

Idra and Stephano will definately be on my SC2 hall of famers list.

Stephano announced that he would retire over a year ago.. what I mean to say is ACTUALLY retire not just "in some time."
Him signing with EG is/was recognized as Stephano sticking around longer than he planned. The reason I say this is because a lot of people either don't know that or lose sight of it. We've had more Stephano than Stephano planned! And we are thankful. If homeboy decides to retire in August he will pursue further education and move on with his "real life." This is not a situation to mock either him or EG. I'd be sad to lose him as a teammate but absolutely THRILLED for him as a human being that has actually dipped into progaming, done better than anyone else outside of korea and then proceeded to go on with his life at his own discretion! Amazing.
Obviously this would be a big blow to EG in terms of our starpower for the roster but I wouldn't worry about us.
This is a time to remember Stephano for all he gave us and enjoy these last few months (if he decides to retire this time around).
<3 Stephano

Well, was 100% sure it would happen. Good business decision to stay for another year, but now that he's not posting results anymore, it's smart to go back to school.
