As May 11th comes around every year, I start to get anxious. Then May 11th itself comes and I get depressed. Why? Because It's my birthday.
The day that people pretend to like you for one day and say happy birthday and then you say thanks in return. No presents, no celebration, hell why did a correlation ever appear between cakes and birthdays in the first place?
Why should my birthday be celebrated? I am one of more than 5 billion people on this earth that has a birthday. A birthday is supposed to be special, but there are only 365 days in a year and there are more important people than me who have a birthday on the same day, let me google some names.
I share the asme birthday as Ace Hood, Cam Newton, Andres Iniesta, and a bunch of other random celebs who I couldn't care less about http://www.famousbirthdays.com/may11.html
Whats the point of being happy on your birthday? Im happy almost ever other day of the year except this day because it's always hyped up to be so special, yet it's always so normal to me. Nothing is going to change today than what happened yesterday except for a couple happy birthdays here and there, and the only "gift" that I get to receieve is being a year older than my previous birthday. Who would have thought getting older was the most thoughtful gift anyone could give me?
TL:DR - no love on my birthday, why do other people make their birthdays out to be so special?

Maybe you should see things from a different point of view.
Your birthday is special because you were given the gift of life by your parents. In the chinese culture, people thank their parents - especially their mothers - for going through the struggles of pregnancy and raising a child.
Besides you should be grateful for being another year older. Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to live a long and happy life. So why not celebrate and relish the fact that you have had a happy 365 days in your past year and look forward for the years to come?

Personally I don't look forward to my birthday, because I know I'm always getting older. But I think its good when you're younger, because you're always getting closer to the magic age when you can do all sorts of grown-up things, most notably drive a car.
I don't think birthdays necessarily need to be special. Its just a "you" day, and your friends and family celebrate you. They could do this on other days (but this day makes the most sense), and in many other small ways throughout the year, but this is a nice way for them to celebrate it all together as a group and make you feel good. If birthdays didn't exist, I think it would make life less exciting.

All I feel like is a burden to my parents, a 19 year old bum who stays in his room most of the time playing starcraft. And oh, only maybe the last year and a half of my life have actually been worth remembering, my life story is not long nor is it happy.
Oh and how ironic that my birthday usually falls on mothers day or around that time. I guess since I don't really do anything for Mothers day, my parents don't really need to do anything for my birthday, thx for the perspective

Celebrate me....honestly it just feels like celebrating "me" feels selfish and unnesecary, it doesnt really make me feel all too great

No one is judging you more than your judging yourself (most the time) Just try and let go of the inner dialogue, focus on you and bettering yourself. Smile, pretend to be happy, more so when you are not... its silly bit it helps.
Eat on a regular schedule, drink water and loads of it and get a decent amount of sleep every night (8hrs ish)
these things help me when dealing with Sorry sack/ pity party emotions ( I have them too often)
every other day of the year. I guess my birthday is special because I get to be a depressive fuck without being judged.

FuDDx posted balloons (AND CAKE) in your birthday thread, your life is complete. <3333

Fuddx is that even eatable? lol
walkindead dude, your birthday is a day for those who love you to spend some time with you and express their feelings. Cause in the mess that has become of our lives, people rarely get a chance to act like themselves anymore.
Your birthday is not about you, it's about everybody close to you.
So treat them right and seek joy in the company of your loved ones.

Maybe you should stop being an emo little teenager and you might feel grateful for your parents

It's like every other holiday...yes pointless in a way, but it is a day for you and people close to you to take some time away from normal life and celebrate what you love and feel thankful for what you have. If you only focus on the negatives then everything seems terrible, even happiness seems pointless, but when you are happy you never say "I wish I wasn't happy". Even if you don't have anyone to celebrate with there are still things to be happy about, life is what you make it. Take one day out of the year to reflect on things, or rather if your problem is you reflect too much (this is me) than take a day to just have fun and not think!

FYI sir....
I was posting to try to help not to "judge" you....
The things I posted are things that can help... I am not saying they will help or that you need them....
I prefer to be happy rather than being sad..... the tone you are setting in your responses, seems to me , to be passive aggressive and that you "like" being in this funk. At least that's what I read into it so far (text is never the best way to judge) I could be wrong...I hope I am...
Good luck man and I truly hope you find a way to have some better times especially on your birthday.

And yes it is edible...Food coloring is amazing. Even more so when the things you are coloring are a base color of white! It was tasty!

That cheesecake looks amazing. My wife would go fuckin apeshit if she saw that

Hey don't be sad its my birthday too. May 11th its great day for a birthday, turning 24 today. Won't be doing anything amazing but going out tonight with my brother and some people he knows.
As you get older you realize that things that matter are now actually pointless.

Try to smile as an idle state instead of not doing anything with your face. It helps! What if you forget to do it? Smile! It's impossible to not have a small increase in happiness when you smile. BIOLOGY
DO IT FOR SCIENCE
I don't have any friends that I can meet in 3D. Sucks sometimes but it'll get better soon.

People like celebrating random shit, it's the same for almost every holiday and birthday. People like to break the monotony of their lives and celebrate, and will find whatever reason they need to justify it.

This is what I think of birthdays, like you I am also 19. I experienced the same thing except it was 2 years ago. Being depressed, questioning and pitying yourself. After going through that unpleasant phase I noticed I wasn't actually grateful for being born. I didn't enjoy living. There was simply nothing I had that seemed so great to live or celebrate for.
To me a birthday is when people celebrate and are grateful you were born, hence they celebrate the day of your birth. I have long stopped caring for my birthdays because the star of the occasion was never grateful. Unfortunately it seems that people turn on autopilot and just give you gifts cause it's your birthday, no other reason, they never really thought about it, they just do it. Or well it's your birthday so.. they're supposed to say Happy Birthday.. cause it's the right thing to do. There is no bonding, only a regularity that should be followed.
It's hard to truly recognize the feelings when people are grateful for you when you aren't grateful yourself, because you really don't have anything to relate to. I got out of this hole by working towards something that will make me grateful for being born, I haven't achieved it yet because it'll probably take a decade, but when I do achieve that goal I will truly start celebrating my birthday for the first time.
This is very important, you should not expect gifts, in fact gifts are just icing on the cake, they are not the cake. What you are looking for is love, love is the cake not gifts. And if what you say is true, you receive absolutely no love that means everyone has forsaken you, and i mean EVERYONE. That means not a single living human being gives a fuck about you, if this is true, then you simply find someone that does give a fuck. Find/work towards something you're grateful for and share it with someone who cares.
