What's the stark contrast? I don't see how these things are even related. Are you trying to suggest I'm scum? because you went about it pretty subtly. Town you from ACME says that you disagree with the idea of millers claiming, and that you don't even know what your thought process would be for deciding if its real or not. Why are you trying to put everyone else in a similar position of confusion? If I wanted to call you scum, I would have. What I want to know is why you are doing what you are doing. Notice 1) Your town play is way different 2) Your town play says you wouldn't claim 3) I don't think your scummy despite the "stark contrast" He said he wasn't calling him scum right that instant, he was questioning him to try to find out what was going on. That doesn't mean he didn't find the play scummy. Presumably the reason he's questioning him is BECAUSE his play was different from his town play. No?
But marv that seems to contrast his statement saying "if I wanted to call you scum". It's possible that it's just me interpreting what he means wrongly. But saying "i'm not calling you scum" is the same thing as "i'm not calling you scummy" imo.
It's not that he questioned thrawn. It's how he did it. Saying "your town meta is different' and "town you wouldn't say this" implies that he finds thrawn scummy. Then, he says he's not calling thrawn scum.
Also, marv, what do you think of this?

Yeah.....I'm sorry marv that I don't follow up my extensive, 4 sentence cases with no quotes that are a response to a question with a vote
This reaction is something that I don't see a townie mindset 1) Questioning someone and mentioning twice that they're playing way different from their town play. My analysis is the end of that post. Thrawn acts as if he had some kind of plan behind his actions, and VE defending him doesn't take that into consideration, but thinks of it as a joke.
Clarity, may I know why you are so disinterested in thrawns claim? You were the first to point out his mistake and never gave a fuck about it.
I don't feel like I can just let this matter go. Thrawn could have talked about it as a joke, instead he acts as if he did it on purpose. He's probably just realized that he's made a big mistake, and further talking about him will harm him no matter what.

Now this might not be a "case" as you would call one, but then what is it? You don't like his questioning, you don't like his lack of vote, you don't like that he didn't call him scummy, you felt his reaction was forced. All this in itself implies that he is either scum or scummy (if you say the two are the same...) and yet at the time you weren't voting him either.

So what do you conclude? It seems like you're trying to make a point with this VE stuff but I'm not quite sure what it is.

That VE defends thrawn with another argument than thrawn himself used.
What motivations would he have to defend him if he doesn't even grasp thrawns own point of view? He might aswell have not read his posts, not showing any interest in scumhunting with that trail available.
I might also remind you that VE has been present since 9:44, but only posts as answer to jay at around 10:23. He's shown lack of interest in the matter from start.
My conclusion?Maybe scummy, maybe sloppy. You want me to go further than this? We've got enough time to vote. If I had to do it now it would be thrawn. Fakeclaiming as joke is a pretty shitty move.

Marv I think you are misunderstanding my main argument. My main problem wasn't that he didn't vote thrawn. Was it weird? Yeah. Is it that big of a deal? No.
My main problem was the fact that he says that town thrawn wouldn't do the miller claim and that town thrawn acts differently than how thrawn has acted this game. Yet, he still doesn't find him scummy.

so you're saying that if someone doesn't do something you expect from their townselves, it is necessarily scummy?

If it's way different from their town selves, then it's hell of a lot more likely they are scum/third party, yes.
Note P in ACME Thrawn in Mario Mini You in GSL III*
I don't have too many more off the top of my head lol

EBWOP
DP in acme. How in the hell did a smiley get in there :/

Here, I have some explications on a notepad advertising rectal gel.
That reminds me that you've pressured thrawn a little at 10:18, marv, but quickly lost interest. So what's your opinion on him?

Disregarding DP and his funny JK claim, these aren't really applicable. These are manners of playing - lurky or not-invested or whatever you want to call it. Going "lol i'm miller" is a pretty different thing. It's wacky and it's dumb and different in such a stupid/weird way that I don't get why you'd automatically think the departure from townattitude = scum. I don't like how you can't see the difference.

Morning all. I read through the thread...I'm underwhelmed with Palmar's entrance, and my vote on marv served its purpose (getting him to play like he cares about the game).
##Unvote
The case on jay seems to revolve around his lack of commitment to his "scumread" on thrawn based on the miller claim. First of all, I have to say - I don't find that to be particularly damning. First of all, the posts in question were from the first six hours of D1. Secondly, it occurs to me that "I don't really like early bandwagons" is more likely to come from a town player than a scum player. Think about it - while Clarity claims that's "classic scum mindset", is that classic scum play? I agree that scum players tend to not like early bandwagons, but do they come into the thread citing that as their reasoning for avoiding voting for one of their "scumreads"? I think not, considering how it's "classic scum mindset" ya know?
To be honest, I can see town jay acting the way he's acting regarding thrawn. Not interested in lynching jay today.
"But VE, who would you like to lynch today?"
Calm down bish I'm getting there. Based on what I'm seeing, I think Vivax and Palmar could be scum together. First of all, Vivax has this problem with my interest level? Goes so far as to throw times of posts into the mix to appear that he's carefully watching the thread...except, Palmar has shown that he not only doesn't care about the game, he doesn't care about his own alignment in the game.
Unfortunately, I've seen Palmar do this as town, so I'm not putting much stock into Palmar's end of it. But Vivax....Vivax is in here actively trying to put suspicion on me for having a townread on thrawn. Literally. I even explained in detail why I thought thrawn was joking, which by the way, he was by his own tongue.
I think Vivax is trying to fake contribution. I think he's trying to appear active while doing nothing of value. He claims that in spite of his "analysis" of my actions, he'd STILL vote for thrawn, based on the stale-ass fake-claim. I'm calling bullshit.
##Vote: Vivax

Here's the thing: I don't see thrawn's stuff as necessarily scummy. I think he was joking. The joking seems to have more townie motivations than scum motivations.
However, Adam didn't take thrawn's comments as a joke. In fact, we still don't know what Adam thought thrawn was doing. He just took the comment super serious and decided to focus only on that before focusing on me. He kept saying "explain yourself" to thrawn.

I took it as a joke and moved on. His casual response to me saying millers aren't self aware made me conclude it was a null tell. His reaction to where he acts like he did it on purpose is rather dull, his explanation of "I wanted to spark discussion" seems legitimate. I actually just want people to stop talking about it as it's not that interesting.

After thinking about thrawns actions more thoroughly, there's another aspect that I think noone mentioned so far:
If he was a scum fakeclaiming, believing that millers are self-aware, he would take the risk of facing a counterclaim. As others mentioned, he's drawn attention with that. But identifying scum with stereotypes isn't exactly the way. Why wouldn't scum be able to draw attention and get away with it?
He would have made following mistakes: 1. Overlooked the rule about self-awareness. Obvious. 2. Forgotten to consider another miller, under the premise that he really made mistake 1.
I don't believe it was a joke though, rather some sort of strategy. Maybe he would have brought these points up by himself at some point, betting on town not believing that he would do such mistakes.

@ VE
Your soft defense of Jay reads as "he's too scummy to be scum" Maybe saying "I don't want to be on an early bandwagon" is not optimal scum play, but please explain how you reach this statement as a town player.
Are you truly buying his story of "I've mislynched as town because of easy wagons, so I'm avoiding it by pressuring the early wagon without putting my vote there!"? He has not focused on anything else other than the thing he calls an easy bandwagon, but then he gives himself a lifeboat by saying he doesn't want to be part of the easy bandwagon, does this not smell like scum to you from a mile away?

So after mentioning how I've ignored the whole situation you're going to parrot me?
On December 10 2012 14:47 Clarity_nl wrote: So you're saying he's scum, but didn't know millers weren't self aware? Do you find that a likely story? Keep in mind he claimed super early, if we were in a setup where millers were self-aware he would be at risk of being counter-claimed and being under heavy suspicion and lynched at some point for sure. (it is common for millers to claim early, the later the claim the more likely it is scum because scum likes to wait to make sure there will be no counter-claim).
No, your reaction makes no sense to me. Clearly I've read your posts but how can you be happy about it, seeing as (working from the scenario in which you are town) I am clearly misrepresenting you. How can you be happy about that?
From your experience an easy lynch is "a bus or a mislynch", which is to say we're either lynching scum or town (dur). So how does that change anything?
