Stephano admitted his joke was in bad taste, if he thought there was nothing to apologise for, then we might have something to debate. His punishment fits the crime, its time to move on. Were not saying you laugh at the war and death toll in them, we are saying that you shrug it off... But this just cant pass. I do agree that the punishment was needed, but not for the reason you guys do. EG had no choice, sadly its the truth, if idra said I want to rape David Kim and some derp sent that to one of EG's sponsor, hed be suspended. But the drama that has unfold shows the true character of this community and it doesnt look good at all. Using an online gaming forum to make blanket assumptions about a nation full of many backgrounds on their collective opinion about war and its atrocities or well, really, anything, is not wise and surely not accurate. If anyone thinks they can "learn from American culture" from this thread about Stephano's punishment then you truly have no perspective.
I am confused here, are you saying that the teamliquid community is composed of only american? Because that is basically what transcends from your post. Was that an elaborate troll? Were you trying to troll me by showing off some other stereotypes that people have of americans? aka they are the centre of the universe.

I mean, yeah, it sucks for him that it ended up being public, but it's not exactly hard to find out if someone's streaming. Just ask. Or look on TL. Or Twitch. If the orb/destiny examples mean anything, it's that if private things get out by any means, people will treat it as something public.

A day doesn't go by without mindless drama like this. Who gives a fuck. He abused a 14 year old, boo hoo, everyone knows it's a joke. Somebody call the pentagon and end this threat to society right now. Get the french president on the phone, we have a code red situation brewing.
What's worse is that companies and sponsors buckle to idiots who care about this.

I'm buying an EG shirt because of this.

I wish Stephano and his legion of fanboys would just go away

Are you people too stupid to realize obviously EGs sponsors would have gotten a lot of flack for this, and EG probably had to fight tooth and nail just to keep stephano on the roster? The flak specifically comes from some people on reddit who don't like that people can make a living playing video games. So you should be proud if you think TL is becoming reddit.
It is hilarious that the people who bitch about eSports not being legitimate are the same ones saying EG were too harsh and stephanos comments were fine. That would be hilarious if it were true. The point of the esports line of thinking is that you have to kick people out and make a huge stink over trivial things for the greater good. A more realistic perspective might be that alienating the audience that built your community won't advance your interests.

Is it right to give a longer leash when it goes against the very morals you preach as an organization? Has Stephano earned the right to belittle the community and act completely irresponsible and unprofessional? And more importantly is this someone we want as a face of the community as we try to bring esports into the mainstream?

Goes both ways. I wish the drama queen community made up by gossip women would just go away. But hey I guess since most of you don't watch starcraft you have to rely on soap opera to satisfy you entertainment addictions no matter who gets hurt or how silly it is.
Welcome to the starcraft community where drama and gossip rules. Hell remind me to sign up my girlfriend she and her friends would be perfect for this community

Mainstream? haha you joking right? I would be embarrassed if starcraft ever got to an mainstream audience people would think we are complete fucking retarded
Nahh with this whiny and drama hungry community I hope it never happens

In the words of Redeye, we don't need the mainstream.

If mainstream esports is your business goal, then I wish you the best of luck achieving it. But in the meantime, while the rest of us are trying to watch Starcraft, what's the usefulness of randomly grounding a player - let alone a star player?

"Entertainment" buddy is that simple

You know when a thread gets to page 50 it kind of starts feeling like everything that can be said about the subject already has been.

Hell no they dont. Trust me, they care about this stuff.
This isn't Joe Blow on Team ABC. This is Stephano, the best foreigner in the world, on EG, the most lucrative team in Western Esports. You can't take this lightly.

Hah. If I were Stephano I'd tell EG to screw themselves. I guess he wants his salary.
