I dunno, the best Terran statistically over the last three months has been Taeja. I don't disagree that Mvp is the greatest Terran ever in SC2 though. (Flash will soon correct this though.)
I really am a Rain fan but in all fairness, I'm not so sure he's gonna take this. I just hope it's an exciting match between Mvp and Rain. Hope it goes five games and hope they're all games that go back and forth.

Yeah. SC2 fans have extreme views on losing and, apparently, slumping. I like how Doa pointed out that the gap between July's two OSL championships was three years. One BestOf loss in one tournament is no big deal.

I always root against MVP, but I REALLY want him to lose this time. Rain has something epic going on, and I wanna see him get to the finals.

Taeja will 3CC and die trying, while MVP will cheese, and die trying. Calling it now!

Come on MVP. Work your magic.

I believe in 3-1 mvp and 3-1 taeja.

Oh man this season has been so good Thanks for the write ups, it adds so much.

That was such a good read!!! Gogogo Rain vs Taeja Finals!!!!! The best GSL finals ever

Just greatest Terran? Definitely greatest player... at least for now.

I can't even imagine how long it will take someone to out-achieve Mvp in terms of tournament wins, we may never be able to call another player greater depending on how long Mvp keeps on winning tournaments for.
I mean really who is going to beat 4 GSL's? NesTea, no, he's done ( sorry nestea fans ) MC, maybe, but I think unlikely. MMA? also unlikely. Seed? DRG? MKP? ( lol ) Someone new? Well they are going to have to start from 0 GSL's...good luck.

Exactly... And it's not just GSL, Mvp got foreign tourney wins too.
It still baffles me as to how people keep discounting that he's the greatest player to ever play in SC2.

Thank you for a beautiful write-up.

I would rather Rain vs MVP than Rain/MVP vs Life/Taeja
But for the sake of seeing a Royal Roader 3-1 Rain and 3-2 Life
|
alright, im going against the trend. Rain's days are numbered, mvp will prove once again while he is a living legend defeating rain in 3-2 series. although i have to say Taeja will win 3-1. Final will be mvp vs taeja where taeja will win after a crazy long series

Yeah. Mvp is the greatest ever now but he started from 0 GSL's as well and 0 foreign tournament wins too. It's really difficult and could prove to be even more difficult to surpass Mvp is he keeps winning but who's to say that some kid can't take over or some Kespa pro suddenly just dominate everything for an extended period of time?
No one thought anyone could surpass Boxer til Nada came along. Then iloveoov just owned everything until in the last days, Flash just owned everybody else. To make the case, Rain is young, Flash is still young and then we have kids who'll come in who have the potential to be just as great, dedicated and as obsessed with the game as Flash was with BW before and with Rain is with SC2 now.
Mvp is, undoubtedly, the greatest but people can surpass him.

I'm sure that, unless the game dies off in the next few years, eventually someone will. The amazing thing is just how great they will have to be in order to make it happen, and that player will be truly someone legendary. Mvp's records set the perfect benchmark to find the next greatest player to come after him. It might take years, an upwards of 3 or 4 for another player to win 4 GSL's let alone with 5 and break his record. Make that six if he wins this season.

That is a great point and it makes me smile to think that. Can you imagine how epic the times ahead can be?
Anyway, back on topic, excited for the semis, especially that I'm on break. I'm literally counting all the minutes before the matches.

He's definitely really really good, but not unparalleled. Squirtle and Symbol had similar runs earlier this year, and Life is busy doing the same on the other side of the bracket. But By.Sun has only been fully dedicated to SC2 for a month. His last BW game was in September 9th, and you can't argue that he wasn't practising BW because he won his last 5 BW games. The massive hype is definitely well deserved, By.Sun is a beast and I hope he becomes a double RR. They've been doing 80% SC2 / 20% BW for months, so the excuse you're providing is flimsy at best. I wasn't giving an excuse, I was only pointing out that By.Sun's hype is well deserved as his skill has grown exponentially since he picked up the game a few months agoHow long have MVP, squirtle, symbol, and life been around? How long did it take for MVP to win a championship? How long did squirtle, symbol, and life play before they became the powerhouses that we know today? Sure, squirtle had some pretty stellar GSTL performances early on but it took him a long time to win enough games to get to code S
Honestly, Mvp won his championship astonishingly fast. He sort of took the scene by storm, suddenly reaching #1 on ladder by far and demolishing everyone in GSL January.
Now imagine that same Mvp, with nearly 2 years of experience on the finals stage, in every game scenario imaginable (except PvZ, ZvZ, and PvP, though he does offrace a lot...)
Now imagine your poor little Kespa player. Scared for Rain yet? You should be, because a certain GSL champion is going to have a second (or fifth!) helping! Go Mvp, you can do it!

I know I picked TaeJa to beat Life, but now I'm really thinking Life will win 3-1.
I also have a feeling MVP vs Rain will be a blow out.
