after a good night sleep and a refreshing day of studying, I feel so energetic! Writing this blog is something I have actually been looking forward to all day. So, I guess I should just start. However, before I really start, I thought I would give you guys some sort of Index. I will be writing two different parts today. In the first part, I will be talking about what kind of day I had, nothing all to SC related. In the second part though, I will talk about something I discovered while playing today, and it had a tremendous effect at the way I play!
Today and all that came with it
So, today was actually supposed to be a simple day of school. However, being projectmanager of my projectgroup, I have to take charge every now and then, and tell some people of! Working on a project, means working together. However, if people don't live up to the expectation because they are either lazy or ignorant, someone has to tell them in a way that won't hurt their feelings. And guess what, it seems that is the job of the project manager. So, I did. In the meeting today, I did a little q-round so that everyones problems and irritations would come up and we could handle them like adults. So, that didnt really go as planned. In stead of staying objective and not pointing fingers, they started to ralf on eachtother like crazy. So, that's where I really had to step in, but I didn't know how. I got them calm, but there are still some small irritations lurking in the depths of mt. doom. I guess I will have to talk to them once more to get it all out there. Will be a drag though, but I guess that's one of the responsibilities that comes with being the leader of a group. As once said by a very wise man:
'With great power comes great responsibility'
Then, my english class started. As you guys all know, growing up with games and television gives you a lot of knowledge of the English language. Just typing this blogpost is already helping out a lot when it comes to me speaking English. So, with that in mind, I shall know tell you about my English class. Believe it or not, I feel like they consider me and my classmates morrons. Having to simply say what is in a script for a fictional telephone call, for almost half an hour, is making it so boring I actually was watching streams from our beloved progamer friends. And when she, my teacher, saw what was on my screen, she got mad. However, I was able to simply get the upper hand in the discussion about the level in which we are taught English, and she gave me some stuff that is supposed to be for later this year so that I could get ahead and not be bored all the time. See, having a discussion with your teacher can sometimes give you great advantages! Well now, I guess that is it as far as my adventures of the day go, its time for some Starcraft related talk!
My new way of playing
The other day, like yesterday, I was reviewing my replays from the last week and I realised something terrible. Every game I had played was really really boring. Because I always tried to win as soon as possible. Stephano's fast max build, early ling runby and more of that shit. How could I have possible been so blind. I could not even remember I made use of the Zergs late game power. O my god, what an idiot I have been. Let me tell you something of which I am convinced:
Zergplayers who just started with sc2 should ALWAYS try to get to late game and get comfortable in playing late game. Why? Cause that is where we can get the upperhand. You all know the annoying broodlord-infestor mix. It's amazingly strong. I learned so much in just a couple of games. Per example:
- How to make effective use of my larvae
- How to make sure I get enough drones
- How to defend against early pushes without having to lose economy all that much
- Making sure I get as much upgrades as possible
Let me tell you something, when playing at bronze level, having about 75 drones and all the upgrades you need and being able to kill off almost every early attack your opponent makes gives you one thing. Wins. Yes, you still lose some, but I really noticed a upward line in my win/loss rate. HURRAY for me right?
I will continue doing so, and I hope I can get in Silverleague next season. As you know, getting promotoed aint possible at the moment, but starting tomorrow I will do everything I can to get promoted!
Love and greetings,
Thomas
PS: hints, tips and tricks on both parts of the post are welcome. If there is anyone with some experience in being a projectmanager or leader and having to solve conflicts, or someone who knows a lot about how to grow in bronze league, please let me know! U are awesome<3
