So, TL, I've come to a dilemma. I have SC2, the Dota 2 beta, and now CS:GO is out. I have a history in all these games except Dota, which I didn't really play. I did play LoL however (and imo Dota 2 is a much better game).
Skill wise I'm easily the best in SC2 (Dia) and in the other two...Dota I only carried like twice, and CS:GO I don't think I'll have the skills I had during the years I was playing Source for at least like, a month (job and school).
History wise? BW I'd play when I was a kid, only campaign tho and with like half the cheats on. :p Was great fun though, BW was an awesome game. CS, I lived in Asia for a little while when I was a kid, and everyone knows that CS was HUGE in Asia. Some days, it'd be like wake up -> go to school -> get out -> go to the LAN cafe with friends and play for at least an hour -> go home for dinner -> more CS with friends, or maybe soccer. Ah, those were the days.
And tbh now I only really have time for one game. The thing is, I have 3 fucking awesome games in front of me right now, and I honest to god don't know which to choose.
So, now I come to TL for their advice. What game do you think I should keep playing?
(P.S. I'm happy with the updates they did for GO, but sometimes I think that either the wireframes or the spray patterns have changed. Leaning towards the spray patterns. Sometimes I feel that I get headshots (and get headshotted) when I shouldn't, and other times I fire at a crouching enemy and don't hit a thing. What?)

Why don't you just split your time...?

Because I simply don't have a lot of free time. I'm not in HS, but college. And I have a job, so I really only have a couple free hours a week. Trying to play 3 games that actually require skill at once with that timeframe, is, well, not good. So I've decided to stick to only 1 game.

If you only have a couple of hours either got CS or SC2. With only a few hours you can't really play in a clan in Dota 2, which at least I feel is half the fun of the game. Dota 2 is also harder to make time for since the average game is longer (though I think it is more fun).

Well...if you dont have too much time then I'd say either sc2 or cs:go.
If you have friends that play dota then it's okay, but if your going to solo it up, you'll end up wasting time on games where a guy leaves...or him being a feeder totally destroys your game, or people just being straight up bad. Well the same can be said about cs:go but hey atleast it completes faster.
Sc2 is solo, and the average game is about 20-30 minutes, so you could totally feel sense of progression by even playing 1-2 hours or so a day.

I'd personally pick dota, but only if you can learn fast or already know the basics quite well, otherwise stick to one of the other 2. I wouldn't pick cs:go, though.

Go with CS:GO. I love starcraft, but to be good you have to play at least an hour a day or more. CS:go you can get a ton of 16 rounds in, in like lessthan an hour. Then again someone who uses the scout well makes me drool slightly.

I don't see some need to invest like hella hours a week into one or the other. If you only have 3 hours a week to play, maybe 1 hour of BW, 1 hour of DotA, and 1 hour of CS 1.6, then after the ultimate showdown of the prequels you play Sc2, DotA2, and CS:GO. Spreading the time around means you won't get the uber-pro level in any of the games. For me that's not typically the goal, but if its your goal I'd recommend focussing on CS:GO. CS is a game where even when your team loses you can still kick ass and take names. It's a really fun game to play solo. DotA2 is a DotA-clone, which means bad teammates can make your record bad, which is infuriating. Sc2 also a good choice, but as a solo game it might get lonely.

To be honest, this is really up to you.
I used to play CS:S for a lot of time, casually, and it was fun, but dunno.. in the end, there was no sense of achievement for me, as every high score I got was really just meaningless stats that reset with the random server I'm on. So I had my fun time with it, but after around a total of 1 year (periodically, over the course of 2 years), I stopped playing. Still, if you don't mind this, it's totally cool to play, just know that when you switch to a game like where stats and experience matter (aka SC2), you'll feel like you wasted a lot of time.
I also used to play HoN, which is a bit more challenging and well balanced version of DoTA (and of DoTA2, or how it was 10 or so months ago), and obviously leaps and bounds ahead of LoL in that sense. If you wanna try DoTA2, I suggest you at least try this game first. Thing is, about any ARTS, is that after a certain point, it's impossible to progress without an organized team. I recall reaching around 1700 in the LoL solo queue, in season 1, but then the random pub teams simply drag me down to around 1250. In HoN, your personal skill decide a bit more if you're a potential carry (or a semi-carry), but even then, at a certain point you simply can't progress without a real team. I reached ~1850 MMR once when the ladder just came out, but then I got matched against other teams that contained 3-2 people from the best teams in HoN, while my team was usually all solo (which is frequently what happens when you solo queue), so I got thrown to the 1800ths. Later I got both my team account and solo account to 1900+, but again, couldn't progress, since when I was solo the same thing I talked about earlier happened, and I never - ever - had more than 1-2 skilled friends online - if I queued with them, I usually got matched against whole teams (or 4+1) and lost. In short, in ARTS's in general, while you'll definitely have some sort of achievement feel, you eventually progress high enough where you can't win without a team as skilled (and good a team-working) as you, so unless you got 4 skilled friends who will play that game with you, you're up for some eventual frustration. Than again, if you play just to pass time, go to LoL and play unranked Queue, or to DoTA2 and play Low Priority (I'm pretty sure it's the same as unranked in LoL).
Finally, we come to SC2. This game has the best aspects of the two above games - first of, the stats are meaninngful, they wont reset every match like CS:GO. Second, you don't need to rely in any way on other people - your performance is connected to you, and you alone. This is basically why I play SC2 - there wont be any hordes of retards in your team who scream "mi mid!", and pick the worst possible heroes (champions) for a specific lineup just cause they feel like. You, and you alone, decide whether the game is won or lost - through your own actions. The only downside, so to speak, is the same as the upside - you got nobody to blame for your mistakes. If you played bad, you lost. You can scream about the "Cheap cheese" of your opponents, but in the end of the day, you'll still know you're the reason you lost, and nobody else. So, if you can't handle losses, you really shouldn't be staying here. Than again, you're already playing SC2, so you probably know all this yourself.
In conclusion, it's all up to you to judge which game you prefer to play more. Good luck , and hope you make the right choice for yourself!

In ARTS games they give a modifier to teams for being a team. This is to try to balance the teams coordination increasing their individual skill vs the solo players. Ending up with better solo players against teams for a pretty even game in most cases. At least that is my experience in Dota 2 where I occasionally end up on the first page on watch (which is the only way I know of checking skill), though most often on the 5:th page or something.

just play all 3 I'm a diamond league Zerg myself and I play maybe a game every few days because I'm not currently in the mood for it and I find myself able to maintain my skill level easily. Dota doesnt really require skill imo as long as you know the basics
Don't know about CS:GO im presuming its not the stomp kiddies game cod is, but still why can't you just play to enjoy?

dota 2 takes too much time, if you say you have only few hours a week to play, one dota game lasts like 35 min average sometimes it goes past 50 min mark sometimes a little bit shorter
CS:GO and SC2 on the other hand take much less, sc2 is like 10-15 min on average for one game and cs:go, well you just jump on server and play. Or if you go for a mix its like 20 min i think
i would take that in consideration
