The doombringers that spam lock-on actually annoy me more when they are on my team but are a nuisance either way for me, just defend the damn flag! To me Brutes just dont seem as useful in ctf compared to juggernauts and doombringers. Thoughts? Brute in the Gen Room every day, every day, every day. Spam Fractils in the Gen Room every day, every day, every day. No, but serious have you ever tried to get Brute out of the Gen Room? I also hear that once you get the Survival pack that the Brute is a whole new story. And that the Nova Colt is a really good gun. Rapid Fire Hit scan with a min of 116 and a max of 190. But with Brute you have to play either: Spin + Colt or Glad + Plasma(You many duel with the Plasma and use the Glad like a Fractal) Brute would be the best Heavy dueler if: 1) Juggs didn't have the ML/LMG/SpinDsk Combo.+ Show Spoiler + Super OP 2) If they had a combat Grenade

What is Newbloods? A tournament to get new players introduced to Tribes: Ascend competition! TL;DR There is a short how-to on newbloods.org / sandboxclan.net/newbloods <-- click this!! It has big buttons! Okay so a quick FAQ:
Hah! Aren't you a downer! (no seriously, shut it) The process is simple, join up with the people in the Pickup group mumbles (one in NA and one in EU) where we are directing all new players. You can join some pugs and you can find people to create a team with!
That's normal, Tribes: Ascend is on-par with Starcraft in learning curve and complexity. It's impossible to be good without being bad first. We have many mentors standing by to explain to you even the very basics of tribes combat and competition. These people will be in the PUG mumbles.
The teams that will be formed for this tournament will be new and inexperienced. Keeping this group together will be a hard thing to do. There will be a 'free agent' option so we can sub people in and out of teams. But we want these teams to at least survive until the tournament starts. This will also focus the people coming into the PUG community so they aren't spread out over many weeks (at which point interest will wane).
So, Sandboxclan.net is now most definitely live. We have a media library to help out new people, we have on-site mentors on the forums and we have a lot of up-and coming workshop sessions to help people with specific roles. The newbloods tournament will become part of a 'new player league system', this certainly won't be a one-off event!

1. A top team, Egocentric, is hosting a newbie only pug(pickup game) night which they will give coaching to players who ask, also it will be casted by Indredd I think. Info in this link + Show Spoiler + (http://www.reddit.com/r/Tribes/comments/xz868/newblood_only_pug_night_friday_at_9pm_est_for/) 2. The Newbloods tournament has launched, hosted by Sandbox Clan. Signups are open now and its pretty easy to make/join a team. Signups close on the 20th. Gold prizes are in the works. I'm also the head of NA Newbloods if anyone has any questions on it. Info in the link + Show Spoiler + http://www.newbloods.org/ 3. CSN has launched a $2500 7v7 tournament. Info in the link + Show Spoiler + http://cyber-sports.net/event/get-primed-for-pax edit: LOL Greth beat me to it .

LT is a very small minority, most people still prefer 7v7 - most just don't know how to go about it. This is why we're doing this newbloods tourney, get everyone informed and playing!

Is this some kind of splinter community like what happened with Smash Bros where they had to form a council to ban certain things in order to create a competitive game?

That has happened long ago already. LT was in previous games too, 5v5 path only 'cause the game is what it is and the community(read few comp teams) is trying to make something out of this game, can't blame them though.

Its 5v5, no vehicles, pathfinders only. It stands for "Light Tribes" and was something that started in T1 for a couple of reasons. The first was that they played light only in spawn because that was the best way to play anyways, so someone said "hey lets make a mode where we spawn in our loadouts!". Then as the playerbase dwindled it became more and more popular until it was the only mode played.

We're starting an EU Pickup group event so do check it out - these things will be going on every night to build up teams for the newbloods tournament (http://newbloods.orghttp://newbloods.org)
