My mind is racing, and I consciously accept this but I cannot suppress the disgust I have of myself. Ctrl + T, Ctrl + W, on and on and on, click click click.
There's just so much stuff to read and see. Reddit is a constant stream of media that is hard to get away from. Close tab, new tab, Reddit!
It's affecting my attention span and my capability to concentrate. I searched for an article earlier, read the first sentence and closed the tab because I felt bored.
It's a similar feeling to being in a candy store where everything is free. What's this? What's that? Click click click. I feel as if I know too much useless information. When I sit before the computer I zone out sometimes. Damn, typing click click click reminds me of the creepy Korean comic with the contorted ghost thing.
I need to get off the computer and start reading books again, help!

Maybe you should just don't use your computer for a week. Get out, go take a walk in the park alone, or go exercise. Catch a movie with your friends, have meals with them. Don't touch your computer for a week.

It´s a pretty common problem in todays quick society.
You have to focus on things that take a lot of time with much more effort, so you rather enjoy the "quick reward" sections.
If you want to change it, you might want to really read a long, interesting book, switch your activities to things which last longer than some minutes, etc...

I tend to do this on TL as well. I work on a computer all day, and like every 10 minutes, Ctrl-T, Ctrl-8 (TL's shortcut), click on "My posts", check the left bar. Read a few stuffs, often something I'm not even interested in.
I can't really say I'm addicted, it's just a bad reflex.
edit: less than 10 minutes actually. I closed the tab after posting. Opened a new one not long after, realized it was less than 10 minutes ago and went to edit. What a miserable existence we have.
edit 2: uh just 5 minutes according to the timestamp t.t

This is kinda fun, but ultimately SUCH a time-sink where later on you really wish you'd spent your time better. I end up watching so many stupid videos and streams NOT because I'm interested, but because they're thrown at me and I think I'd waste less time doing that rather than booting up the game for myself.
If you want to limit how much you waste on this (TL over-use counts too), try staying away from your computer. Charging, then unplugging your laptop also works, but be sure to put the power cord in another room, otherwise in the spur of the moment you'll just plug it back in instead of stopping when the battery runs out.
Sleep > > 'entertainment on the internet' . If it's a question of going to bed at 12, or playing around on the internet for a good 3 hours, it can be less appealing, but choose sleep. Though most people have less/no commitmnets during the summer, staying on a reasonable sleep schedule and being awake during the daylight hours is so much more healthy and beneficial compared to a few more E-points or games-watched. It also lets you wake up around 8 to overall play more games S:
Finally, there is a problem with your habits if you catch yourself needing to check TL/email/Reddit/Facebook every 30 minutes. Be wary of additction like this - you never get anything else done.
Finally, try and find some worthwhile and meaningful activities you can get lost in that don't involve the computer. Doing math, exercising, reading books, calling and talking to friends ... are all more fruitful than the instant gratification of the stuff the internet throws at you. It gets much worse with ADD. Please don't let yourself fall too far, it really screws you over.

I can't really say I'm addicted, it's just a bad reflex. If you're having withdrawals not doing it then it's an addiction , sounds like you are in denial! It's ok i check forums all the time when i'm at home as well.

I challenge myself every now and again to drop the habits I'm comfortable with for a week and see how it turns out.
So no computer, getting up early in the weekends, eating diverse and more often, ride my bike etc. It's really fun if you're a competetive person like me and I have felt great every time I did it even though it sounds daunting. You have to get out of your comfort zone once in a while to remember yourself of the possibilities

Nice one, Azera! Many of us suffer from the same problem, I guess.
And I was like "Ctrl + W? What's that for?"
Oops, thankfully I knew Ctrl + Shift + T. The best thing ever for people with bad mouse control like me

I find that pauses in internet usage help. Last one was during my trip to the Eastern Islands : no teamliquid there! I would sit outside all day, reading books, fishing, horse-riding...

There are plenty of interesting books out there. Just give yourself 5 minutes away from the internet and you'll be wanting to read all day. It really is just as easy as walking away, and personally I never got into Reddit because 1. I knew I have an addictive personality, 2. It's just another time sink with which to waste my already wasted life, 3. Why does anyone go on reddit anyway? it's just a mass of forums, it doesn't have real content like TL.
We're not gonna help you. You can only help yourself in this situation.

IF you want books, read philosophy, they will really make you want to read. Seriously it sounds boring, but it makes you such a well rounded person and I find those books, when translated into NOT old english, to be incredibly enterntaining.

Thanks for all the replies. I've taken them all into consideration and I truly appreciate them.
