Decent show overall. I still dont get it what was the point of the first episode just confused me so much and you get semispoilered in the 2nd ep which kinda blows.
Kagura was anoying and useless at some points even though she was the "best" exorcist . I liked most of the chars ( except Kagura :D ) but Yomi was my favorite by far. The kid with the butterflies was interesting but we didnt see much of him and nothing of his background but they probably left that for the sequel.
Overall 8/10 I liked it but the way they structured the timeline was preety bad in my eyes and kinda rushed at some points.
I saw this was similar like with Fate/Zero and Fate/Night so I was wondering if the sequel (the manga ) is any good and worth checking out ?
I thought the manga was worth the read.
Its soso. Kensuke is shit, Kagura gets somewhat cooler. Then the Yomi/Kagura angst takes over later.

Actually like what owned noob said, the Christmas stuff was inserted in the side story vols, as early as vol 2 at that. idk if you read web version or LNs but this story is one of the earlier written short stories in both cases. Either way, the story is there but they opted to try to force it into one episode instead of like 1.5~2 that this really takes. This was the case w/ Aria too, which was written summer 2011 and should've taken like...almost 4 episodes in terms of pure length. The result of abbreviating that one isn't quite as bad as ep3, but nonetheless really screws with the people who has read source.

they are currently adapting the side stories for aincrad, which are found in later volumes. it is rushed, theres a reason why people are complaining about it. m assuming the pacing is so they can make SAO the first half and ALO the second, which is retarded because there's a shit ton more interesting stuff to adapt about SAO. they should turn the side stories into 2 eps each, make the main story like 6-8 episodes, and have the rest be ALO. a-1 should hire me to storyboard this shit, because i can do it a billion times better then they currently are
Or you know, fuck ALO because retarded premise. Literally only redeeming feature of ALO is Yui returning. Nothing interesting theme wise, no real improvement to characters, only new character that we gets just turns into harem. Do you really want to see that?
But really anyone who has read the series can storyboard better than this. I think they just want to fit in ALO into second cour to get max time for dutchwife. That is just going to be pretty much retarded because 1 vol of SAO honestly has more material than 2 vols of ALO put together.
This show is retarded. How are you supposed to give a shit about someone that goes from being introduced to dying in like 5 minutes? Why is Kirito on floor 49 of 100 in the third episode? Nothing actually happens in the show, they just imply it happening in a 15 second sequence.
It's not like these characters were set up to be cared about either. It was obvious they were dead from the start of the episode. If you watched this episode because you expected to care about new characters you're kind of mistaken. There are tons of other things you should've been watching for other than the obvious dead guys.
But whatever. I watch SAO because waiting for Yuki Kajiiura to come out with cool musics.

The dude who said this episode was anime-only is wrong. The Red Nosed Reindeer is a side story from Volume 2, and was like a 1/4th of that volume. Anyway, in the LN, you didn't give a shit about any of the characters either, and their fate was a foregone conclusion before they were even introduced. Also, you think Kirito suddenly being on the 49th floor is funny? In the LN, the time skip from what was in episode 1 to what is the actual story has him suddenly on the 74th floor, lol.

LN wise, nah. Kirito specifically said there wasn't anything romantic between them, just them sitting in the same room, with him repeatedly telling her that she wouldn't die all night.

Amazing when daughter AI is more interesting than harem members isn't it. Also she is more useful than harem members to boot. Also plot device to lead to a bunch of random things here and there.
Afaik only person who had sex w/ Kirito, officially through web novel at least, is Asuna. That said, at the end of Alicization there is this one short story that amounts to him actually getting a harem in another VR world and spending around 5 years in game w/ them. No actual descriptions, but what are you going to do for 5 years w/ a harem?

I'm really liking SAO so far, but yeah, it does really feel that there are a lot of missed opportunities with plot/ character development and the pacing just seems...off. When the first three episodes of a 12/13 episode season introduce minor characters that either die or disappear for a long time, it makes it hard to really get involved in the show like I would like to.
On July 23 2012 02:11 dafnay wrote: Yo I just wonder : can you watch the Evangelion movies if you never watched the animes ? Since the movies take place after.
You can watch the two Rebuild movies, since they are a remake/reboot of the series. End of Evangelion is a sequel to the series.
If the continuity argument proves to be true then at some point maybe struggle through the series. Painful as it is.

SAO is only about Kirito and Asuna really, everyone else pretty much just fillers or sacrificial material to develop those two.

All the SAO buzz made me decide to watch/read as much of .hack as I can and I started with SIGN. Soundtrack is probably the best I've ever heard in an anime, time to go hunting for a copy.

@Sent: best scene in Evangelion imo.
We need to hope SAO ends in 1 cour, since the next arc after Vol1 (3+, from what I've gathered) is really stupid. I've already started reading Vol3, an turns out that Eca's "dutchwife" jokes aren't actually jokes!

Too much Q.Q in it though.
Sure. The "drama" sometimes seen quite forced, and that thing about nothing being able to move your body if you don't want to fight was really unnecessary.
