say, how robust is that guy? is he suitable for pretty much exhibition purposes only or will he survive a bit more physical interaction than just a little gentle petting?

Hmm, well I guess the question would be, what IS it you want to do with him? haha j/k He should hold up if he falls off the shelf or you throw him across the room. The body is machine sewn and the legs, tusks and wings are sewn on by hand. I wouldn't give it to a baby to chew off the bead eyes though. I think you'd have to pull pretty hard or purposely to yank his parts off.

But sounds like he'd be fine with that?

But sounds like he'd be fine with that? Lol. You'd probably just have to reshape/refluff him a little at the most, but he's stuffed pretty good. He's not really pillow size though, the probe would be better for that. If something happened to actually loosen threads at some point, you can fix him right up with a needle and thread, simple as sewing on a button. He'd probably also survive gentle washing & drying, but I'd recommend a washcloth as the stuffing may bunch up as with any typical plushie or pillow. If your dog got a hold of him, well, I can't help you there, lol.
