EchOne had besieged Warsaw, the capitol of Poland. However, his forces are outnumbered, and the only course of action for victory is attack, and smash the enemy. And thus, the Battle of Warsaw begins.
Battle of Warsaw
Echo arrays his forces on the North East side of the city. Echo's forces are almost entirely rifle infantry, with the only Horse being his own personal unit. Echo was forced to leave behind his previous Calvary regiment behind, back in East Prussia, to recover from damages suffered in their previous battle.
The massive Polish army amasses in the West, and advance.
One portion of their army marches through town, straight at Echo's lines.
Echo meets this advance with lines of Infantry.
However, the advance on the Northern front is just a feint, and the bulk of their forces moves in on Echo's lines in the South. The Polish outnumber Echo by alot, and threaten to completely surround and crush this flank!
And just when it couldn't get worse, the Polish Calvary hit the flanks of Echo's left guard. The lines are in danger of collapse!
Polish forces swarm the Prussian Regulars, beginning a huge melee. With the numbers advantage the Polish has, and with the flanking calvary, Echo realizes he must act quickly. If the southern lines break, the battle is lost!
Echo deploys his reserves to his Left Wing. Reinforcements rain death on the Polish Calvary, routing them and forcing a retreat.
Meanwhile, the Left Wing is still holding up in the melee, encouraged by the arrival of reinforcements.
Back in the North, the Polish Army charges Echo's bottleneck, beginning a huge melee. With one force engaged in a melee, another of Echo's regiments turns around...
And catches the Polish Left Wing in a deadly crossfire, routing the unit. This frees up the Prussian Right Wing to sweep in on the middle, and turn the tides of battle!
A true, valiant Leader, Echo himself leads his unit into the melee in the South of the City, to reform the lines, and drive the enemy back! The fighting is fierce! However, tragedy then strikes...
+ Show Spoiler [Legend of the Galactic Heroes Spoilers] +
The Attacking General, commander of all East Prussian Forces, EchOne dies heroically in battle. I am veri sad now.
However, Echo did not die alone! The remaining Prussian forces, saddened by Echo's death, but also enraged, begin their fight anew, and the Polish Supreme Commander is killed in action!
As if terrorized by Echo's ghost, the entire Polish front begins to collapse and route.
The last organized forces in the Polish army are their Center Guard. After both the Polish Left and Right Wings collapse, they finally break through the middle, however, Prussian reserves are in wait for them. The reserves join the battle, and soon after, the entire Polish army is routed.
EchOne will be remembered for his Heroic Victory at Warsaw.
His swift victory in West Prussia linked all of King Sentenal's lands together, and his victory at Warsaw claimed the Polish capitol, dealing a blow to the Polish that they would not soon recover from.
The battle was costly, however, the Prussian army killed every last Polish Soldier.
The combination between Kaal's subjugation of Saxony, and Echo's campaign against the Polish, more than doubled the territory of Prussia. With so many new territories being captured, King Sentenal orders a tempory halt in conquest, in order to secure newly gained lands. Warsaw in particular looks to be a bitch to keep under control.
I send an envoy to the British, who I have had friendly trade relations with, and request a formal alliance. With Great Britain at my back, hopefully it will serve as a deterrent for other nations looking to pick a fight with me, while I secure my gains. Thankfully, they accept.
General Kaal takes the bulk of his forces, and begins a march to East Prussia. With Echo's death, he is now supreme commander of all Prussian forces, until Echo's successor can be found. Kaal basing himself in East Prussia, the middle of my Empire, will allow him to respond to threats on either side of my empire.
Conditions in Warsaw are terrible. Apparently this game puts a really big "Resistence to Foreign Occupation" penalty on conquered Capitols. The region looks like its on the brink of Civil War. My Protestant Missionary has yet to convert enough of the people to my religion, so it looks like it will be some time before its under control.
Warsaw is in turmoil, one of Prussia's Great Generals as fallen. What will become on the ongoing war with Poland, without a strong leader like Echo in area? And what of that build-up of Austrian troops in Silesia? Tune in next time when I can upload pictures again.
