07:06 KST - method linked here has been disproved here 10:54 KST - Find a full timeline of pro comments (including Spades) in the topic here. 08:47 KST - Summary: Accusations of maphacking have the potential to destroy a player's career if left unaddressed. Because of the potential consequences, we should be careful about accepting unproven accusations. The principle of 'innocent until proven guilty' should be applied here. That does not mean that there has been a conclusion about this case, however, which is why this thread remains tentatively open. Please discuss with caution and use evidence to back up your claims. I understand what it is, but when talking about his camera staying in one position for a period of time, Spades says he is "100% not doing anything like that." So is this a bug in replays where the camera gets stuck on a location or is Spades lying? Camera locking he means that he locked the camera to that spot(so replays and obs show him looking at it) and looked elsewhere. However as you can see, in those periods where his camera isn't moving, hes doing a ton of stuff at that location, such as starting upgrades, buildings units, making depos etc. To mention camera locking while he's doing all that just shows how poor the OP is with reasoning...

And another thing, I think its purposely reasonable for people to question players, and to investigate hacking, cheating, and abusing. I just think its pretty stupid, I am instantly labeled a hacker because some 1 post decided to label me one, everyone jumped on the bandwagon, without clear proof or anything. Ummmm. You are ALREADY a PROVEN hacker. So anything you do will seem more suspicious.

No one should be as naive as to believe singular analysis. Why not get other people to watch this replay first? Of course you had to make an accusatory one. The title suggests that it's possible. The thread itself, well... So, probably most of you know Spades as a decent terran brood war player, which was caught maphacking some years ago. Well, guess what, he's back! "I really hate this guy, you guys should too." Instead of this being a debate there are already people who firmly believe that Spades hacks, though there is no consensus at all. Real dumb. If anything the replays being shown to the public should be a strong case FOR Spades since what kind of map hacker would reveal his replays? What incentive is there to hack in a showmatch? drolet has one post, what's up with that? What rank is drolets? Is this gold league analysis of GM play? I don't know. Spades streams. This predisposition to believe he's a hacker is likely to alter peoples' mindset so that things that are otherwise considered "good plays" like a nice/lucky medivac or good gamesense are now perceived as hacking. If he ends up hacking, good, we've found another hacker. But this is a terrible way of doing it. I'm inclined to not believe it until I see better evidence, others are saying your analysis is biased, which it painfully is - and it's disgusting to see people jump on the wagon just because the post was lengthy.

I'm not saying that a hacker can't lose; I'm just dismayed at the fact that so many people are brewing up this witch hunt over one set of games that the guy didn't even win.

I don't get why so many people jump on the BW wagon, but I guess it's kinda american culture not to really forgive anyone, even if the crime is incredible minor. lmfao wtf?

There is an easy solution to this. Spades, upload a whole bunch of your most recent games (no cherrypicking) from before today. There is no reason why this would be bad for you if you are not hacking (revealing secret strats from a mediocre NA pro isn't exactly ground-shaking). If you refuse to or dodge it, or cherry-pick certain replays, you will look guilty as hell. If you upload them, and there is no evidence of maphacking, the situation becomes significantly less damaging to your career.

Camera Lock Lock your current camera position and save selected so you can freely look around the map so that your camera movement and selections are not recorded into replay. Use this when necassary to help avoid suspicious camera movement in your replays. If you happen to leave this feature on and try to command any units it will automatically turn off, this is a safety feature so that you don't leave it on by accident. So essentially, when his camera is supposedly 'locked' any and all selections will NOT be registered and present in the replay file. If Spades was in camera lock mode, the selections wouldn't have been picked up. There are other hacks (and private aka secure ones) out there of course, and I don't know if they function differently..
