No transgender / gender identity / gender equality talk in this fanclub please. |
Here is something that we might consider. Note that I am merely offering this for debate, not making a definitive statement.
Add to the OP (in spoiler) a few of the good posts regarding transgender issues; that clarify the issue, so we can redirect people to it, because this issue will keep popping up.
Note also that all transgender people have different attitudes towards it. I hope this is a way that is most in accordance to how Scarlett herself wants to deal with it.

I don't think that's a good idea. Some people phrased it very well, this fanclub is simply about a player that happens to be that way, it's not a place to discuss the issue in general. If there was a black player, should we have a "poverty for black people and latent racism in the United States" article linked in the OP of that person's fanclub?

I hate it when a girl(?) does kinda OK at a huge tournament - she gets 90+ pages on her fanpage when there are people 10 times better that get a lesser amount of fans. If I make a fanclub of a guy who went to round 2-3 in some Open Bracket it would get closed. Whats so special about girl gamers? It just blows my mind... I would like to rewind time and go back 3 days in the past and be the first to make her a fanclub, saying in the OP that she is a transgender woman. Lets see if she gets 95+ pages then. And Im not saying that people wont like her because of that but she will have the same amount of fans as someone else who doesnt go deep in the Open Bracket... Please dont take this as a direct insult/hate post.

Outstanding player since the first Iron lady that I witnessed her in. Sign me up for the club!

Actually for a large amount of time, there was a thing in the OP about her situation but JOJO took it down yesterday for some reason.
The reason this is so awesome is because she is a complete unknown without a team or any formal practice who then proceeded to slay top players. Also, her actual play is phenomenal as well!

Beating koreans at your first major tournament is "kinda OK"? Funny guy, show me another player who has started out with as much bang please...
Please dont take this as a direct insult/hate post.
That you have to write this, probably means that you shouldn't have posted this here.

Scarlett do you listen to music when u play? If so what genre/bands u prefer?

I later told her she was a transgender, and my gf said "oh thats why she is good" She doesn't believe woman can be good at starcraft or gameing in general. She's lived in the U.S. for about 7 years and I've brodened her perspective on numerous things, and I would like to do the same with this. She is actually pretty good at games herself, not the best but better than my average American friend. So I was wondering if someone could elaborate on what sort of transgender she is. I'm not really familiar with the term, and not sure what exactly it means.
Also keep up the great play scarlett, I thought you were going to beat OZ. It was nailbiting, and I had to leave before the last game to go to work. tt. Hwaiting!!! She was born biologically male, but identifies and lives her life as a female; that sounds like a simple answer, but that's really it. It's not known whether she's undergone hormone treatment or gender reassignment surgery, and it's not really any of our business anyway.
It's not really any of our business, but thank you for answering. Personally I don't care if she is male female or anything. My gf was very interested in it though. Scarlett is a person, and I think she could be a great sc2 player is she worked really hard.

One of her posts a few pages back answered a question somebody had asked about what music she listens to. If I remember correctly she said pop (k-pop, russian-pop, some american - lady gaga) and then she said she has been getting into some of the music normally heard on Stephano's stream.

@AdrianHealey I will answer generally and not directed at you.
No, I will not do that (unless Scarlett tells me to). There was a statement in there for the first few days. I will not put it up again because it shouldn't be necessary. I will not make something an issue that isn't an issue by preemptively answering questions that don't need to be asked. And to be honest, the stuff that keeps popping up is aimed at stirring up debate and derailing this thread anyways.
No matter what questions you have regarding transgender issues, there is lots of information available. Even on TL, heck even in the posts in this thread (an amazing post a few pages earlier). People should respect what is someones personal space and what is someones public persona and how far you can go with personal questions and statements.
The play she has shown at IPL4, the cute interviews she has given and the info she's posted in here for us about her (in this thread) really made me a fan. She fucking rocks in my opinion (and I liked her even more when said that Season 2 of Dark Angel really wasn't the real deal anymore. So true!) I don't need her to share everything with me to be a fan and I think you (whoever is reading this) don't either. This is a StarCraft II player's fanclub.
I would appreciate it if you would reply to this with private messages to me. I don't want to discuss my view point in what's really Scarlett's thread.

Ummmm... she came out of nowhere without a team, beat a Korean, didn't lose a game to a foreigner and went toe-to-toe with a Code S Korean. As with any other sport, that is a huge underdog story that people love. The fact that she is a girl gamer probably elevated it, but a fan club would've definitely been immediately started for a guy as well. Also she made it to Winner's Round 3 then Loser's Round 5 in the, widely acknowledged, hardest Open Bracket to date in Starcraft 2. That is not "round 2-3 in some Open Bracket."
Also ironically it got to 95+ pages because people, like you (ie non-fan I'm assuming), coming in here and rousing up the supporters.
Final final point, Scarlett is awesome and did a little Q&A here as well which bumped the page count up quite a bit. <3 Scarlett

Just want to say that I'm very inspired by your play Scarlett I will have some more questions when I finish thoroughly analyzing those four replays, and thanks for those!
For now I have one question - if I'm not very mistaken, I saw you get both +3 melee and +3 ranged attacks in the first game vs Oz, and I didn't see a simultaneous carapace upgrade. What's the reason for that?
Oh, and JOJO, you can add me as a fan

You are making up some serious nonsense. Scarlett has posted her 'outing' on page 3(!), it was quickly added to the OP, so it's been known pretty much since the beginning. Then she didnt just made it to round 2-3, she beat 3 (almost 4) well established pros. This is by far the biggest amateur run of any gender. A guy would have had a fanclub as well for sure. Of course it wouldnt have been as big. Obviously being a girl is special and that attention had to be expected. What is so special about Idra (by far biggest), Nony, Incontrol and Destiny, who all have big fanclubs? Alives fanclub has 9 pages.

Scarlett, if you are starting to listen to older alternative, you might want to give this or this a shot.

The entire idea is silly anyway, everyone's free to be a fan of any player for any reason, they don't need to defend themselves. I myself am a fan since I thought she was so shy and cute in her interviews and she seems like she has potential to do even better in future tournaments! <3 I don't think anyone should feel bad about supporting some player based on 'arbitrary' reasons that aren't about playing skill.

This thread reached 95 pages because Scarlett has constantly popped in and answered questions. It's honestly that simple. You'd be amazed at how interested potential fans will be if they actually get to interact with someone.

Well, you did not get my post...... Edit: and I am too tired to explain, because this is exactly what I am reffering to, stop talking about transgeders etc every fucking page. Its old and everything been said and it just stupid.
