The casuals of the games who watch without playing very much, what keeps them interested? If the custom game system is like Warcraft 3's a ton of casuals will be playing the game JUST for the custom games, this will cause more people to get their friends to buy the games and play a TON like in Warcraft 3 without actually touching the ladder. This change with the custom games will cause a lot more people to play Starcraft 2 casually thus leading to more people just tuning in to an event happening discovering eSports and a lot of the tournaments going on thus making Starcraft 2 grow. This is a huge change and it is what Starcraft 2 needs partnered with the fact that the chat channels will make it feel more warm and welcoming. This is HUGE for not only Starcraft 2's growth as a game but Starcraft 2's growth as an eSport, so to those of you who think the custom games getting fixed is not a big deal you need to remember eSports in any game is not just about the hardcore people or else it won't grow. Especially when Hots comes out and there is another huge influx of people buying the game to start playing not as many people will end up quitting because they don't want to dedicate a lot of time to ladder or they don't like it, they will instead be able to play customs and have fun. Edit: The negativity towards something good coming boggles my mind sometimes...

They also don't seem to get that the custom game lobby sucks. It's not that it's not egalitarian enough - it's just not good.

The semi-LAN feature is cool, but I'll wait to see if it actually is of any use, but it sounds exciting nonetheless. Actually, I'm very excited about the stuff about Arcade. Of course, Blizzard has advertised time and time again that they want to do a "map/mod marketplace" idea, and it seems that they are preparing Arcade to incorporate this idea. However, from what I've seen from Blizzcon, there are a lot of pretty cool improvements to the custom games interface through Arcade that it becomes greatly beneficial for the average free custom map. I don't expect the map marketplace idea to be very successful, but the overall improvements to the custom games interface via upgrade to Arcade are pretty awesome, like the 5-star rating system and map-specific ladders. The new editor updates are pretty cool as well: + Show Spoiler + Oh, and the new art tools look like a great improvement, but the speaker is pretty damn awkward lol + Show Spoiler + IMO, a lot of the stuff that they showed off at Blizzcon impressed me. It still doesn't make up for the lack of group replays or the whole host of other broken or missing features, but they are still great improvement nonetheless in their own right.

(re: electrolytes) Steps in the right direction blizz. Now falling in line with the chat room thing: if someone sends me a message when Im offline it would be nice if it could save it for me, or so I could send something to someone on my friend's list when they are offline. Even if its just for real id friends it would be a hugely awesome innovation in bnet 2.0

I think they're just going to make it so you can easily find the people around you, as in get their name/number, so that you can custom with them easily. Going through the usual BNet stuff, meaning exactly the same latency and general BNet trolling we are so used to already. That's how I interpret it. Just making it easier in tournament settings etc. Which is nice but this 1.5 patch seems to be pretty fucking useless on the whole
