some of you are interpreting this as LAN support, but to me it reads that players will simply have the ability to "prefer" laddering against someone on the same network. like if huk and haypro are practising, and for some reason want to play for ladder points, they both select this option. but to play the game they need still need an internet connection.

hopefully I'm wrong about this, though!

re-reading it, it sounds like that's exactly what it is, which is a pretty useless feature, unless once the game begins its played only over the local network.

This would be so easy to abuse. Hoping it wont work like that,

Couldn't be more happy with this, excellent implementations. It doesn't matter that it is late, as Day like to say - "What has happened in the past is completely irrelevant, the only thing that matters is the state the game is right now" (or something like that )

This shows blizzard recognizes how bad battle.net 0.2 is.

It's a start. We'll see whether it's a good start when that patch hits, though.

It probably doesnt overcome the MMR system is thats what you're referring to. You can basically do the same thing now by searching at the same time.

...man, you're an insightful one aren't you? Yes, people that are making improvements to a product recognize that something is wrong with it. Do you feel clever now?

If this patch coincides with the possible addition of Daybreak to the map pool then this will be the best patch yet.

This patch obviously doesn't have everything we've been asking for but Blizzard is obviously moving in the right direction. I'm so pumped for HotS!

YES!!! This is huge in addressing some of the concerns in "UI still sub-par" thread/combined movement.

Too bad they didn't realise these issues at release, nearly 2 years ago.

"most feature-loaded patch to date"

You can now resize your chat window and now set autojoin settings for chat channels.

This is so depressing I dont even know where to start. So many games have these kinds of options right of the gate, 2 years later this is what we get for sc2.

How a company manages to make their product progress backwards just amazes me.

My first thought after reading this. Then I read the rest, and the same came to mind.

Thats the solution to the social experience? Moving the chat boxes around and making them bigger? are you serious?

You can resize chat windows now.. the only difference is that the client will store how you resized them for next time? Also the same IP thing isn't LAN. It will all depend on implementation but either they're holding back the big changes from this press release or they're not making big changes.
