- "Oh my god, thanks for addressing our concerns!" - "Thanks for nothing, this change is pointless!" Usually it's just a change that will help a little, but does not address overarching concerns - yet doesn't really deserve all the cynicism, since it can be genuinely meaningful.

You get a lan with internet connection needed, a full window chat and a new custom game system. Why wouldn't you be happy to get that versus the status quo? It's improvement and it shows they recognize the problems of the current interface. You can focus on what hasn't been done, and I'm all in favor of putting more pressure on them to implement more features, but you can't pretend this patch isn't a step in the right direction.

No one can tell me that the initial blog post about "streaming support" wasn't intentionally misleading here. They knew full well that people would assume, well, actual streaming support instead of this. And here I got a tiny bit excited that they listened and went a step in the right direction.

hopefully I'm wrong about this, though! re-reading it, it sounds like that's exactly what it is, which is a pretty useless feature, unless once the game begins its played only over the local network.

Most of the other features are great, the SC2 team seems to be working very hard. No doubt HOTS will be great. The sc2 team can't be working that hard, they still haven't finished all the features WC3 already had despite all that code already existing.

True LAN support is the one thing they've been dead-set against from the beginning. I wish it wasn't so but realistically we've probably got to accept that all we'll get is some kind of inferior alternative.

Well, everything but the "Thanks for nothing, this change is pointless!" answer is wrong in this regard. Most people here don't even read more that a few words. * This is not LAN; just finding people from inside a LAN will be easier. * "Streaming" in this context has nothing to do with Live-streams, but only with updating the client. * There is no real change announced to the chat system, just resizing of windows and remembering their positions. * There still will not be a custom game screen like in BW/WC3.

Other changes seems good but just looks to me like blizzard is saying " Calm the F*** down , we understand you don't like our UI , we'll give you a little something so you guys will shut up for now" Chances are the "lan" feature is only going to come out in HOTS as an incentive for us to whip out our wallets and fall into blizzards hands again T_T

Patch 1.5 Is Coming The upcoming 1.5 patch will be our most feature-laden patch to date. This patch represents the first steps towards the release of our first expansion for StarCraft II, Heart of the Swarm, and will include numerous upgrades and fixes throughout the game. One of the most significant additions will be the all new Arcade feature which includes improved custom game visibility, ratings, reviews, game instructions, screenshot support, and more. Patch 1.5 will also include significant improvements throughout the overall user interface, streaming support, antialiasing, editor and modding upgrades, new art tools, and more. We’ll go into further details about these features in future developer updates. In this update, I would like to provide some insight into the thinking and motivation behind a few of the upcoming changes. Anyone besides me excited about how much better the game may look with good Anti-Aliasing? About LAN: Sounds interesting, I guess it is kinda sucky, because when I sit with my friend in the room, how will I not already have this person in my Friends List? If it actually lowers the latency significantly, I would be sooo happy... If they "re-implant" BNET 1.0 style custom games, for god's sake PUR-LEASE make it so that I can filter out all those crappy ones (cannot tell you how frustrating it was not to be able to filter away the gazillions of DOTA games in WC3 when looking for some decent TDs) Overall I think this will be a good patch, although I am hugely missing the shared watching of replays....but well I have grown used to not having that by now....sigh. Any indications on when this is supposed to hit?
