I'm not so sold on Matt Flynn as the franchise type guy that will sell tickets. I think they would be better off spending a lot of draft picks to get RG3 or just draft Tannehill and mold into "your" guy.

Setting out to deliberately injure your opponents is pretty horrendous given how tough the sport is already. I am a bit concerned that there are rumors though that some other teams were also encouraging 'bounties' as well (notably ones that Gregg Williams coached at).

I wonder what the offered reward for killing Brett Favre was.

Before the 2009 NFC Championship Game, Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma offered any defensive teammate $10,000 in cash to knock then-Vikings quarterback Brett Favre out of the game.
from King's article here.
I'd assume that's just one instance though.

Haha wow... I wasn't expecting to actually find out...
Incoming Saints fans claiming every team does stuff like this, similar to alot of Pats fans after Spygate.

This is how you put a big X on your back. Brees's next season might be extra painful.

James Harrison should be fined for this...not Gregg Williams associated with Fisher associated with ol Buddy Ryan in the 90s eh?

As a Saints fan I'm personally disgusted and Gregg Williams has taken the role of most hated figure in our franchise's history. We're going to get hammered with penalties for it and our brief stint of relevancy is going to leave soon if Brees feels like jetting out of town after this incident. Utterly despicable. It doesn't matter if other teams do it, that doesn't make it okay.

Even if he wont sign the saints will surerly franchise tag him. I guess there would be questions about his motivation in thar case though.

NO is in a lot of trouble here. And they should be. With all the precautions being taken for player safety now, they will be hit hard (no pun intended).
Also, I am pissed that Philly franchised Jackson. Unless he has a complete mental turn around, I'm done with him. I hope we sign Plaxico, he wants to join Vick and would help tremendously in the redzone.

I thought some other team was caught using a bounty system like 5-10 years ago. This cant be that big of a shock.
Some of the stuff in this article is a bit ridiculous and over the top. Yes, technically some of those consequences could happen, I doubt any of them ever do happen though. Except maybe the IRS, they love their money.

I dunno, but I think the big commotion is about Greg Williams being behind it all.
Either way, it's still disgusting. Paying players thousands to go out and deliberately knock someone out of the game.

Lowballing the only relevant player in your entire team's history is a pretty great way to get him to leave, the franchise tag doesn't help that. I'm so utterly fucking disgusted and this has probably ruined the rest of the year for me. The entire franchise finally emerged from being a useless shitheap for 40 years and then this one fucking jackass ruins it.

The fact that they tagged Brees means he's leaving after this year, honestly. Back to nothingness, Saints =/

Meh, had to deal with Brady being targeted and having to lose him for a season - if the same thing happened to Brees it'd be just as upsetting but the truth is if you know stuff like this is happening in your locker room and ignore/participate you should expect a to get shit on from either the press or other teams or both if people find out.

Jackson will never pan out for the Eagles. He's a whiny, fragile little bitch.
As for signing Plaxico, it would definitely be nice to have a good target that isn't a shrimp for the first time in the Andy Reid era. Eagles are gobbling up all the ex-cons.

Yeah I don't see the Second Degree battery happening in a full-contact sport like football, but the Saints still got their shit all fucked up. The Brees thing is just stupid. Yeah some of his stats are inflated from the dome game and what not, but he's still a TOP 3 QB in the league (#1 right now imo, fuck Rogers and Brady). The Saints are really going to lowball the mofo? Who's their backup again? Chase Daniel? Mark Brunell? I really don't know, but (and I'm asking Saints Fans this) Do you guys have any faith in your backup QB? Better hope they have a draft pick or two remaining or who knows... they can always sign Peyton Manning when he gets cut :D
