I'm curious what people thought of Simmons's recent column on PEDs, basically with a thesis that if players unions are going to continually fight against effective testing for PEDs, it should be part of the media's role to speculate on use and the improbabilities of certain feats in the open, and head sizes and such, so we aren't constantly getting burned by cheaters.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, your opinion man

if the media outlets doing that have good libel lawyers then whatever i guess.

giants released bradshaw and canty. I thought Bradshaw was a little odd, but then again, I don't know their cap situation. Wilson looked like he has some talent, but he lit up the horrible Saints defense, and then the Eagles when they were getting skullfucked to the tune of 42-7. It's not exactly like he did anything warranting such confidence in his abilities just yet. I assume it had more to do with the cap situation and Bradshaw's penchant for getting injured without fail. Dude always had foot problems. Which sucks, because he's a really entertaining runner, and still good. He broke 70ypg

Eagles restructure vick on a 1 year. It's 10 and change, heavy on incentives.

Because of the term, there's little risk here. Worst that happens is they waste a few weeks that could be used to get Foles more up to speed.

Still, I doubt much comes of this. The spread requires a good line, and a qb who can make good quick reads and throw accruate. The Eagles line is Bears level bad, only masked recently by Vick's speed, and Vick is pretty damn bad at making reads and accurate throws.

But again, due to the little risk involved here, they might as well see what he's got in that offense.

I wonder what the vikings are gona get for percy harvan. hopefully some draft picks so we can get lucky with one of them. vikings find themselves in a great spot capwise and have an all star offensive monster to trade so I'm hoping for a good year next year.
A wise man will say that he knows nothing. We're gona party like its 2752 Hail Dark Brandon

He is still vocal about wanting out? If so, I'd imagine that dminishes his trade value a tad, even if he'd be a stud in a lot of offenses.

Trading him would leave just about nothing else in that offense besides AP though. Rudolph is decent enough, but I am sure a lot of his catches are a result of LBs being more afraid of Peterson than him, and Harvin drawing help outside

The really depressing part as a Vikings fan is that after hearing all the speculation that they could splash for a WR in free agency, coupled with Percy Harvin, teamed with Adrian Peterson and the developing O line there was potential for an offense that even Christian Ponder could take far.

If the Vikings trade Harvin, Peterson may actually hit his 2500 yards since he'll end up getting about 80% of the teams offensive yards next year. Sigh.

I thought vikes were under the cap it means probably more rebuilding but they can afford shit.

Jeff Garcia seems like a cool dude (smokin' wife too). I don't have any pity for JMR. He didn't seem to exert any effort whatsoever. If you have nothing better to do, though, why the hell not.

Peterson is a friggin stud, but I think Harvin really coming into his own this year helped him greatly. Without him, that's 8 in the box all day. He was already gonna get that but that will happen all three downs if Harvin is gone.

Harvin is great and all, but asking for Calvin Johnson-type money just makes yourself look like a tool.

Should we make a 2013 thread or keep this one ?

Anyways, after watching the combine, this is a amazing draft for o/d-line. And Manti Te'o is highly overrated. He played good versus garbage teams but when he faced stanford and Alabama, two of the few teams that actually has somewhat impressive o-lines he looked clumsy, out of place just as he did in the combine ( Stumbling around, slow 40, looking out of shape).

The Niners have traded Alex Smith to the Chiefs for the No. 34 overall pick and a conditional pick in 2014. That's great value as far as I am concerned. I'm guessing that teams aren't impressed with this year's crop of QBs that will be available at the draft.

Yep, quite the sweet deal for the Niners I must say. And Harvin, a former Gator, overinflating his own worth? No way....whodathunkit........

Goddamnit, why am I a Chiefs fan? Trading a second pick for a terrible QB when we badly need a #2 corner and another WR in a draft with quite a few good ones... somebody please kill me now.

Smith is far from a terrible QB during a year and a half stretch where he was surrounded by the best talent in the league with one of the best coaches who barely ever asked him to throw more than 20 passes in a game. Smith, for most of his career, HAS been a terrible QB -- albeit under some pretty severe extenuating circumstances. That's a high price to pay for a guy whose career has more negatives than positives.

There's hardly any notable receivers in this draft. This draft is stacked with offensive line and defensive talent.

Well sure, but the picture changes when you consider present, viable alternatives to Smith. All things considered, I think KC would have been hard pressed to find someone definitively better.

KC has some talent on its team, so it's not like they're going to need Smith to carry them game to game. That said, I do think that a high second rounder is a fairly steep price to pay for someone like Smith, who will never be a franchise quarterback.
