Very Nice. Will be watching

That sounds cool and promising!
Let's hope some talent will show up for the Offline portion of the tournament. There is quite some risk involved for travel and accomodations if you don't manage to qualify for the main event

Very excited for this! As someone from Ottawa I think its great to see some sc2 action in the city. Can you share when the registration for the Merivale 8 Open will be open?

Gonna do our best to make it sick 🍁

Very cool, gonna try qualifying for this and when I inevitably get knocked out I'll go view it in person since it's in my hometown!

We only have 5 players from the Asia / Oceania region signed up so far for tomorrow's qualifier. The winner earns a spot in a 12 player $15000 CAD tournament and a flight to Canada. Get the word out to your favourite players from the region! ursatv.challonge.com
Thanks for your support!
RE Risk/Travel - The Merivale 8 Open will disburse the $5000 CAD prize by map win. We'll divide the prize by the number of total map wins, and issue shares out. As UrsaTV's first event in a market untested seriously since 2019, we decided on a format that would share our modest pool to a guaranteed 4 superstars and those close enough (or motivated enough) to treat Stellar Fest like their local HSC in the NA East//Canadian region. That's my inspiration, ambition, and... theory behind the Merivale 8 Open.
I also think the LAN will be more player focused (while the Constellation Cup, more viewer focused), answering a desire from players who were disappointed to have travelled all the way to the EWC qualifiers in the US for 1 or 2 B03s. I do hope we've created an event big enough to inspire some larger teams to support their player's travel. It would really help - especially if they announce they're intent to accept the challenge. I bet there's some Clem fans in Gatineau!
I think as the community is aging and transforming, many are starting to treat the next few years as rare moments, and want opportunities to mingle while this generation is intact. I'm optimistic enough to think of this as the first farewell tour... with 20 more to come like KISS.
We'll definitely setup a survey for November, so you can give us your feedback for Stellar Fest 2.

Amazing news! Hope this event attracts all the best players!

A few Stellar Fest updates... shared here first!
M8O Prize Distribution Change --- In late September, I mentioned my intention to payout the Merivale 8 Open $5000 CAD prize through a point system. A few players successfully argued for a change to a more traditional payout. New formula: Top16 payout (4 per group), Top 8 advance (2 per group).
"Plaid Night" --- We have rented two floors of a bar downtown Ottawa on Thu 6 November, to celebrate the end of the M8O, on the eve of the main stage event at Bayview Yards. The top floor has golf sims, and a racing sim for players, casters, tournament staff and premium pass holders. The second floor, with Karaoke, will be open to anyone with a Stellar Fest ticket... and the ground floor of Mulligan's Golf Bar will be open to the wider public hoping to bump into community members! Join the UrsaTV discord to follow the action: https://discord.gg/NbrbexWCCM
Bus Transfer --- Registration in the Merivale 8 Open is free for players. If you need daily transfer from the downtown hotel area to the LAN centre, you can purchase a $50 CAD bus transfer pass. We've organized a bus that will depart near the Lyon LRT station at 10h30AM for Merivale, and depart the LAN centre at 6PM for downtown.
Tickets are now available for sale!!!!!! https://ursatv.ca/events/

Following the tournament on Twitch and Liquipedia will give you the best chance to catch the action of your favourite players... in broader terms, on 4-5-6 Nov, the Merivale 8 Open will run every day from noon-to-6pm.
