TL is naturally very gaming-positive, but the bottom line is that for many people it's just a big time waster that has you staring at a screen, alone in a room. If you like it and can balance your life, cool. If you rage alone in your room for hours at a day, might want to toss it. Doesn't mean you can't

1) You have to set goals for yourself. In game goals, goals for the day, week, etc... Write them down, change them if you have to, but if you have something written down that you can aspire to you will improve quicker. Try to stay away from, "My goal is to win 40 games today." 10 sure, but even then I'd say start more towards.. "My goal is to have x amount of barracks with 3 OCs and y amount of whatever by z minutes in a TvZ" 2) Have a good mindset. I just played some zerg on ladder who, when I said "gl hf" said "NO PROTOSS IS OP" and blah blah blah. Well guess what? I put a little pressure on him and he crumpled up and just left the game. Self-fulfilling prophecy. If you think you can't beat a race or beat a certain tactic, then you'll have less of a chance doing. 3) So if your mindset isn't good you're going to have to take a break.. whether it's to rub one out, watch some comedy, or commit genocide, I'm not one to judge; just do something to give yourself a little break.

I play random, and I rolled a pvp, and this idiot protoss just blindly proxy 2gate rushes me before he even scouts my race. Shit like this happens all the time to me, and it's making me more and more paranoid that people are maphacking. I mean, if I rolled T instead of P, it would have simply been a free win. I've never once had someone give me a free win like that, how do they always guess right?

If you can't handle both success and failure, go play something less engaging or better yet, cut out any sort of competitive game completely.

You should play the game because it's fun. I'm tired of people making Starcraft into more than it should be. It's a game, you should play it for fun, as a hobby. Starcraft isn't supposed to be about some grand life mission to be the best and catch 'em all. Stop playing with that attitude and play the game for enjoyment; that's the way it's meant to be played. Proplayers are able to play the game with such conviction because they have such an incredible passion for the game that they can sit and ladder for 12 hours straight, you obviously don't have that and neither do 99% of us. Now go to the steam store and buy some other cool games and have some fun for a change. That's the whole point of why we are all gamers.
