@SS_Monologuer:
One of your past nicknames that has now faded, JooInBae [=쥬인배, 쥬니어대인배. 대인배 means 'the man', which was also a nick for GGPlay. People deemed Zero a junior version of him], was originated from GGPlay; do you still keep in contact with him? Woongjin's culture of undermining seniority was started in part by you dissing free often; do you have any comments? Also, Neo.G_Soulkey seems to have potential to become the next victim of that tradition; which player of Woongjin should he be watching out for?
A : I received a message on Kakatok from GGPlay yesterday. He must have seen me caught in a losing streak, because he sent me a message of encouragement. He will be discharged from the military soon. I am thankful that he still watches over me as a big brother.
I don't think I undermined free enough to bring about a culture of disrespecting your seniors. I keep all the basic manners a junior should have for his elders with him; we are just good friends so we don't care much for formalities. I would never dare disrespect him. The team's whole atmosphere would go to trash. We are closer than blood-siblings but we still have our basic manners.
There is definitely a growing a feeling of Soulkey growing into 'that guy,' and I think the player he should be watching out for is hOn_sin. We seniors have reached a consensus that Hon_sin has not yet reached that status, so he hasn't been acting too out of line but soon you may see small-scale family feuds going down.
@dlsdud88:
Compared to Terran and Protoss, Zerg has been severely underperforming this season; what are your thoughts?
A : The maps have definitely gotten harder for Zerg this season. However I feel like the players have been lacking in coming up with creative strategies to counter the other races as well. We, including myself, seem to be lacking in skill, and the number of my losses this season confirm that.
@YNWAjh:
You have been underperforming as of late. How is your gameplay during practice, and who do you think are the best players for each race?
A : I still feel like I'm useful in the practice room (bitter smile). I'm just frustrated that I haven't been performing in broadcasted matches.
It's very difficult to name one best player for each race. Like everybody else, I think TBLS [=Bisu, Stork, Flash, Jaedong] are some of the best players around. Soulkey has been performing well but he has no individual league titles, so he is still somewhat of a wild card. If he continues to perform well, I have no doubt he will go on to win titles soon.
@dlsdud88:
Do you keep in contact with the retired players? What about Really and Center? Also you're birthday is coming up; what do you want as a gift?
A : I keep in contact with Really and Center. Really is preparing to enter the military. Center took the college entrance exam last winter, but I haven't heard from him afterwards. He hasn't called me directly, so that's as much as I could gather from his cyworld, twitter and facebook. If he has good news to share, I'm sure he will call me up. It feels difficult to call him up myself.
February 18th is my birthday. As a birthday present, I want a victory in Proleague. I want to break my losing streak and lose the 'losing-est player' title. It's a present that only I can give to myself. I hope for my fans' continued support.
@hjhee17:
You have a cutiepie Pororo image ingrained in you. Have you ever wanted a different character for yourself? Thoughts of moving onto a more manly/macho image?
A : It's a well-known fact that my image is quite the opposite of manly. My personality also scores pretty low on the manliness spectrum. However as I age, I can see my cute side subsiding. Especially nowadays, I feel like I have been aging rapidly. Looking into the mirror, I can see that I am no longer who I used to be. My fans might not have noticed, but I see myself daily and I have taken notice.
@je_dlacotlf:
Soulkey has been dominating recently and it feels as though he is the team's ace. Is there some truth to this?
A : With good results, his confidence has also shot up to the sky. He has become a player that other teams fear. He has always been a cute little brother to me so I don't see that side of him yet, but it is indisputable that he has grown into a great player.
@HaNe_Dreamer:
What do free and Soulkey mean to Zero? When Zero wins a game and comes back to Woongjin's bench, we see him mobbed by [physically] big players like Light; how does it feel? Do you feel intimidated by their stature? [wtf lol]
A : Free, Soulkey and I often joke around that we are like coworkers in a company. They are a great big and little brother to me. Although we met through business, we have become a family. I have an actual older brother but I spend more time talking to free. Of course there are some aspects that only a real brother has, but we have spent much time together and have grown on each other.
I am jealous of light's height [185cm ~= 6'1"], but his face is also big so I am not that jealous (laughs) [One thing that is as important/more important than height in Korea is body proportions. We often measure how many times the length of your head your body is and celebrities are hailed for their "godly" proportions, ie height = 7.5~8x the length of their head. Most Koreans average around 6~6.5x without photoshop and height-boosting soles] It's true that I often wish I were taller. Light is a cutie pie in our dorm so I'm not intimidated by his stature. Unlike his big adult-like body, he often plays childish pranks on us. You could say he is our team's cutie pie mascot.
+ Show Spoiler [note on proportions] +
@starC_ing:
Your favorite fan-made nick?
A : Le Petit Prince, The queen-born, Little Lee SeungHwan [singer] are all great. Anything that doesn't have to do with 'Mustang' is good [=야생마, fans often called him 야색마 which sounds the same but replaced one syllable with 색 to add a sexual connotation. Originated from interviews with other players that said Zero puts up a cute facade but actually obsesses over girls' looks in private]. Please refrain from nicknames that imply I am a sex-maniac.
@cjy_jy:
In one of your Proleague interviews, you joked around saying that "We must let Lord Soulkey sleep more so I wake him up exactly when he needs to get up"; do you feel threatened of losing your position as ace, or is it just a big joke?
A : We did that even before Soulkey became a monster. I'm not saying he's lazy. He just needs to sleep alot. He performs much better with sleep so us seniors who know that tend to cut him some slack. We don't treat him like a King because we feel inferior.
For me, I'm not particularly picky about my condition, but you can actually see Soulkey having a hard time focusing when he lacks sleep. Even our coach tells him to go get some sleep when he sees Soulkey underperforming.
@xcgx123:
Who is the greatest 'bubble'[=overrated] teammate?
A : Nobody is overrated on our team. It's because we as a team haven't been performing well this season. Soulkey, who has been performing well, also does well in practice. You can pretty much assume that each player plays at about the same level in the practice room as in broadcasted matches.
@pwj0504:
What is the one thing you want to hear from your fans after your matches?
A : If I can be satisfied with how I performed, I think I will be happy no matter what they say. I would like to encourage the fans to enjoy the atmosphere with us players rather than cheering for me specifically.
@joingtaku:
Who is the best Zerg in the scene?
A : Soulkey currently has the best record in Proleague but I feel that is not enough to justify him being the best Zerg. Jaedong has the most achievements so I still think Jaedong is the best.
@leakerberos:
After you changed your Proleague theme song to IU's You and I, your performance has taken a nose-dive. Do you have plans to change your song? I feel like you need to for your team's sake.
A : There was a time when I could have changed it, but I decided to use the time I would spend choosing a new song for practice instead. Also alot of people say it's the curse of IU, but from the player's perspective, there is no such thing. We can't actually hear the song when we enter the booth, so it's a non-factor.
@kbc1335:
Are you a member of IU's fan club?
A : I am not. She just happens to be the first celebrity I've seen in person, so I started liking her out of pure curiosity. I saw her when she came and performed for the finals at Kwangan Li. From up close. I don't have any celebrities that I like in particular at the moment. I'm not saying I don't like IU either though. I like all of them equally.
@wowjs2:
Do you have any plans of changing your theme song? Have you given any other songs serious thought? How about IU's Good Day? I feel like it would be cute. Or how about IU's Uncle?
A : If I had to choose between the two I would choose 'Good Day'. I'm not old enough to be called uncle by her yet. I have a hard time choosing between 'You and I' and 'I like you'[I feel like the reporter made a typo; I can't find a song named 좋아요 by IU, think he meant 'Good Day'], though. It's a tough call.
@goojw99:
Do you have a girlfriend? What is your ideal girl? It wouldn't happen to be IU, would it?
A : I don't have a girlfriend. I look for a girl that is kind. It would be nice if she were beautiful as well, but looks aren't that important. Their personality is everything. She has to understand me.
@dlsdud88:
You must be stressed about you and your team's performance. Do you have any specific way of relieving stress?
A : It would be impossible not to be stressed. I spent alot of alone-time listening to calming music these days. I listen to ballad that's extremely sad and depressing. I feel like it brings me down as well but it helps me focus my mind. I feel like it's unfitting to listen to uplifting music at the moment, so I opt for the depressing songs. I don't listen to any particular tracks over and over; I listen to a wide variety. But if I hear a song with a fast tempo or an uplifting mood, I skip to the next song. [aww ]
@rani0213:
Why are you so cute? [LOL]
A : When I look into the mirror, I think I'm more handsome than cute. Was that too rude of me to say? I am very thankful towards my parents. It sucks that I am short but I am confident about my looks.
@hhsm0118:
You said you never received any sort of skin treatment from a dermatologist, is this true? What is your secret?
A : I don't wear makeup in broadcasted matches. It's a hassle to wash off so I ask not to put any makeup on. These days I have been using some medicine on my face so I haven't been putting on makeup. This was the first time I've been to a dermatologist.
@LJH_SY:
Do you have any anecdotes stemming from your height?
A : Not that I can remember. When I first debuted I used to play 2v2's with Max [186cm ~= 6'1"] so people called me 'Cicada on a tree'. Anybody who remembers Max knows he is a lot taller than I. He's not just tall, but also pretty buff, so there was a big contrast. I was also a lot skinnier back then, so it was worse.
@Bling_Sprout:
You must be stressed from losing so much. Do you have a ceremony and interview prepared for when you break your losing streak?
A : I haven't though about that yet. I am just concentrating on breaking my losing streak.
@Winerline:
What kind of sports do you like? Do you have a favorite team?
A : I like baseball and soccer. I don't have any particular teams that I cheer for. Since all my teammates like soccer, we watch it together, and baseball, I got a chance to watch in live and it was really encapsulating. I didn't know much about the teams that were playing but I saw myself fixating on the match. I just chose some crappy seats but I found myself wishing I could cheer them on with the cheerleaders in the front. It's also regretful that the only thing I ate that day at the game was some chicken.
@bbangmilk:
If you had a younger sister, which gamers would you introduce to her? (Including retired gamers, yourself excluded)
A : Hmm excluding myself leaves me with nobody. I wouldn't recommend anybody. If I had to choose from my team... Nobody. Knowing what I know about each and every one on our team, they all fail to meet the bar. Compared to me, they would all be terrible choices for marriage.
@starcraft82ting:
What race do you think is imba? Is there a player that is particularly good during practice but not so much in live matches?
A : It's not so much of a question of an imba-race, but more of an imba-player thing. Since the winner of individual leagues change each season, you could say people just think whichever race the winner plays is imba. Since Flash is on a monster tear right now, everybody is saying Terran imba, but I think Terran is okay as long as flash isn't playing.
In the past, our team's terran lineup was deemed the infamous 'Woongjin Terran.' Right now, it seems that it has shifted to me. During practice, MVP was very good but it didn't show during broadcasted matches. After switching to Starcraft 2, he has been displaying his potential he showed during practice without holding back.
@Kyuneful:
How was the nickname 'Mustang' born?
A : Really made that nickname for me. There is a story behind it though. During practice, free often called me a sex-maniac[=색마, literally means sex-demon] as a joke, and then Really called me 'Hey, sex-maniac'[=야, 색마] instead of my name. People around me heard that and said it sounds like Mustang[=야생마] so they started calling me that. I personally don't like it. When I first heard it I thought it was funny but then I started thinking what strangers would think of me upon hearing that. It would be particularly bad if any adults heard that. I know I am not a sex-maniac so I can laugh it off. But people who don't know me that well might buy into it, so I am worried.
@dhfoswl010:
Would you make any specific deals with the devil? What would be the terms and conditions?
A : It all depends. If the terms were 'You can be the best player for only one season/league' I would pick Proleague. I became a progamer to win Proleague. Individual league titles would be nice but if I had to choose I would choose Proleague. I feel more stressed when I lose a Proleague match than when I lose an individual league game.
@chb990310:
Zero's favorite Zerg unit?
A : All of them. I guess I have a special place for the queen in my heart. I first discovered potential behind the queen during practice with my seniors, and started using them. I could win in other ways but I felt like if I could win utilizing queens, the impact would be larger. If there were an 80% chance of winning without queens and a 60% chance of winning with, I would choose to go queens every time. If I am going to win I want it to be a game that people can talk about, and even if I lose, it would leave an impression on the viewers' minds.
It's hard to pick out any particular games with queens. They were all memorable games and important wins. If I had to pick, I would pick the game against Kal in the OSL. It was a game that left a huge impact in its aftermath.
