... and I will be until you can prove otherwise. No, I am not ranked 100 in the worst bronze division. But I challenge anyone to show himself or herself worse than me. Please do so -- while being demonstrably the worst is a perverse point of pride, I am happy to cede the thrown to one more deserving. Seriously.
The evidence:
SC2 was released July 27, 2010. According to Bnet, I purchased the game on July 30, 2010. I did not play in the beta, but other than that, I have pretty much been playing with ever-increasing frequency, consistency and effort since release.
Account No. 1: Phathatter, NA Server, Gold level Zerg -- Currently ranked 98th in my division with 0 wins and 8 losses (!). Last season I was rank 6 with 133 wins. Total league wins: 748 (I believe this includes team games -- I mainly play 1v1, but, to the extent that I have played team games, I can't even take full credit for those wins). This account is slumbering while I work on playing Terran.
Account No. 2: Mr. Black, NA, Silver Terran -- Rank 4 with 158 wins. 165 wins total (including team). This account was started just this season.
The argument:
In the 15.5 months that I have been playing SC2 I have played 953 league games (actually more than that, because I also play a lot on my brother's account, but cannot track those stats). I am a high silver terran and a mid/high gold zerg (was approaching plat in season 4, but I'm assuming there is a lot of rust there now). Until proven otherwise, I postulate that no one has seen less improvement with as many games played. Just by way of comparison, I have only two RL friends that play SC2 -- my brother is getting serious but has only been playing a couple of months. He is top a top 8 silver random player. My other friend came over from WoW with literally zero RTS experience and is a top diamond zerg.
Expected Counter-Arguments:
"You can't be the worst, you are not bronze." -- My measure of success is efficiency in improvement of skill. If there are you are a Bronze players out there that and have played almost 1000 games (most of them 1v1) and are still bronze, let me know and I will cede the title.
"I'm sure you could beat me, therefore you aren't the worst." -- The same argument applies. If you just started playing, your suckiness is justified. Only after you have put in significant time and effort will your results prove you worse.
"I have played 4000 team games, but I am bronze 1v1 with 78 games played." -- You may indeed be worse than me, but it is hard to compare your data to mine.
"Aren't all the players in your division who are ranked lower than you demonstrably worse than you?" -- Not necessarily. The ladder rewards playing the game more than winning the game. You generally gain more points for wins than you lose for losing. Typically the top 20 or so in any division (at least up through gold) are the only people that play regularly. The bonus pool allows people who play less to keep up, but it only goes so far.
Other Potential Responses (in varying degrees of likelihood:
"I am worse, here is the proof: [proof]." Thanks -- I'll update the OP with your stats.
"Why are you so bad? Is there something physically wrong with you?" -- That's a story for a different day, but I don't have a disability that contributes to my badness.
"You should [watch pros play, switch to protoss, analyze your replays, go all-in, watch Day[9], learn to macro, build marines + a-move, practice in custom games, use YABOT, ladder more, hire a coach, etc.]." I either already do it, or, I'm not going to do that.
"Hey man, winning isn't everything." -- I agree, thankfully (otherwise I should not play a game that I am demonstrably inferior at). I take pride in the way I play the game -- good manner and standard/non-gimmicky play. The game is supposed to be, and is, incredibly fun. None of that changes the fact that winning is the only true objective way to evaluate player skill.
"Dude, quit crying, uninstall and GTFO." -- I'm not really complaining. I love SC2, and I play it a lot. I blame no one. I'm not likely to be a grandmaster, but I will keep improving and learning.
"You should try [insert build order]. You'll rank up in no time." No thanks, I have plan for each matchup and am already working on my execution.
"Hey bro this is Liquid'[insert TL pro]. I dig your humility and sense of style. You don't know this, but I've been reading your posts, and I really like how incisive your analysis is, and how politely you conduct yourself on the forums. You seem like a real person, not just an attitude on the internet. I think I could really help you with your game. I'm going to be in Austin soon, how about we get together for a few beers and let me teach you a few things." -- Holy shit that's amazing! You are one of my favorite players--no, you are now officially my favorite player. I would love to buy you a beer! But hey, you don't need to go out of your way -- Skype works for me. I mean, if you're going to be here anyway, absolutely, but you don't need to come all the way from [San Antonio, Florida, Sweden, Germany, Korea] just for my sake. Wow, Team Liquid really goes above and beyond!
"Hey, I'm a Masters Level player, and I would love to help you out -- I'd like to analyze your games and help you to fill some of the holes. I am always available to practice or answer questions. GLHF!" -- Awesome! PM Me!
TL;DR -- I am the worst. Prove me wrong my friends. Please.

If Gheed wants the title, he is welcome to contend for it -- but I will not give it to someone who does not ask me for it. There are lots of contenders out there, and this thread could get negative quick if people start nominating other people
Now, I doubt Gheed or any other player who has a blog that tracks his or her success (or lack thereof in our cases) will be offended. But what I don't want to see is:
"Hey you think you are bad, check out this guy -- he fail cannon-rushed me lololol, so I checked out his profile and he's got 4,000 wins in bronze! I tricked him into being my friend and I learned some embarrassing things about him. Here's his character code, home address, email and telephone number. I got his girlfriend to break up with him!"

LOL that made me laugh so hard ^^
I thought that the leagues were somewhat divided into percentages of skill, so that bronze was like the bottom 20% (or whatever) of the barrel, and then silver was the next X% of skilled players, etc.
Not to say that a high bronze can't beat a low silver player, but there are thousands of players ranked so much lower than you that they probably can't even identify half of the units and spells- and the fact that you even know about this website will put you much farther ahead of them anyway
Best of luck to you in the future Stay positive and humorous!

I'm glad you liked it. Yeah, I can stomp bronze players, but I still contend that they aren't worse than me unless they shown a consistent effort to improve but are still bronze (i.e. after 1000 games or so).
But yeah, it's mainly a joke and something interesting to think about -- I mean, if someone wants to claim that they are the worst, because they are only diamond after playing 25,000 1v1s, I'll entertain the argument.

Gheed has almost won 1K games (meaning play 2K) and he's bronze.

lol great blog, entirely entertaining, wonderfully thought-out arguments. 5/5

I admire your attitude May be, you could post some replays to strengthen your argument lol I am not that much skilled as I'm just a diamond-low master level, but if you want some practice or replay analysis, I would try my best to help you :D GL HF, sir.

Reminds me alot of my lack of success in sports. The effort I have put in during my entire life can be attained by people in a year or so. Or even worse, talented clubmates who dont practice at all just rolls me like nothing. But I just have to look at it from another angle, sure I'm in the bottom of the best but I'm still better than the majority who competes in my sports. Kinda like master level in sc2 if you want to compare. With that sort of skill it's really fun to just go out and play even if you cant tuch the GMs.
I'm into two sports, in one of them I'm clearly the best in my hometown and I'm not getting rolled there in the same way as the other one. But for the time and effort I've put in I'm just aweful.

If you read the second line, you would understand that I'm saying the OP is stupid for not trying new strategies, thinking his is ideal for improvement when it's obviously not.
If you are unwilling to change, then stay forever bad and be the worse player.

At least you enjoy it. That's really all that matters (:

I was going to come in here to refute your statement, but someone else already did, lol.
But yeah, read my blogs if you want to read about a group players worse than you and maybe feel better about yourself.

5v5 funny OP. I particularly like the anticipated responses and your replies .

I think two things are getting lost in translation here: 1. From Me --> ReketSomething: the joke 2. From ReketSomething --> Me: whatever he is trying to say

I remember seeing a buy with 3k wins in bronze, he cannon rushed every game so I am not sure it that counts as worse than you or not but in my opinion he has got you beat.

Hero of the underworld of sc2. after reading any of your installments nobody can claim to be the worst player unless its one of them x.x
