State of the Game to Return to Independence
We're hard at work finalizing details about 2012–get ready, because you'll be seeing some very major Pro Circuit announcements next week. While setting up the new Season, we've been taking a very close look at our broadcast schedule, and we've decided to shift our focus entirely towards competition coverage. We've also come to believe–and we hope you'll agree–that the greater world of eSports is best served by community-driven journalism, independent of a connection to any particular League. With that in mind, MLG and State of The Game (SotG) have mutually and amicably decided to part ways. JP was first to raise the issue with us, and we agree and back his choice fully. In order for the show to best serve the community, SotG will return to its roots, becoming fully independent once more, and will no longer be broadcast on MLG.tv. Going forward, the live show will air on twitch.tv, and VOD will be posted on JP's YouTube channel. JP will be posting more details on his personal blog soon.
The show will begin airing at its new home on January 19th, at 7pm EST.
Weekly Warfare and the MLG Weekly will continue to air on MLG.tv, along with new shows that will be announced over the next few weeks. Please stay tuned for additional announcements about MLG's new Broadcast Lineup and the 2012 Pro Circuit.

good news. I don't see them reaching more people with the new time though.

Nice. While it doesn't matter to me who sponsors them (though I hope they do find a nice sponsor), I'm very happy that SOTG will be returning soon!

Love the new time, will likely be able to watch most if not all of it live now.

awesome, great to hear. looking forward to next week

i hope they find a good sponsor. Seems to be not so easy to find one, which doesn't conflict with TL/EG. So i guess it won't be Steelseries or Razor

thursday at 7? what in the fucking fuck :\

This sucks for anyone who is on West Coast who actually has a full time job... myself included

are you still working for MLG outside of state of the game?
|
good news but not a fan of the time cause many people on the west cost will not be able to tune in at 4pm

going independent doesnt do shit for their coverage. jp still works for mlg, every player is still attached to a team and cant talk about them in ways they can other leagues/teams. so the people on the show are losing their pay cheque for no reason.
derp

Holy shit JP, huge props for turning away guaranteed security from a huge sponsor and keeping SotG by the community and for the community.
Will always support SotG for the many great moments you guys have provided throughout 60+ episodes.

derp No but it does mean MLG won't use SotG to make an announcement for their plans for 2012 or w/e the fuck that was. They trying to get a new sponsor who understand that free SotG is the best SotG. How the fuck they gonna do that if MLG is still sponsoring?
This show is too great and there's too much money in esports right now for them to not find a sponsor.

I wonder if they would consider going under the onemoregame.tv brand, or is that a complete no go?

but mlg IS still sponsoring them. if jp doesnt get paid by mlg he cant sit on his ass making sotg for us all night long, because he would need to get another job.

What's the plan for hosts?

Really? That new time so much better for Europeans, at least we can watch live now instead of waiting for VOD's or staying up to watch it. A step in the right direction. I have been waiting for the time to change for a while and wondered why it wasn't changed sooner.
Looking forward to next week!

Everyone's affiliated with a team, so that rationale is a bit shaky.
I didn't see much influence from MLG sponsorship, however. The show was basically run like it was. It seems like they're declining the money from MLG and looking to pay their hosts in other ways. I don't understand it to be honest. Is this so they can feel free to say what they want on the show? When was this ever really a problem?

The new time kind of sucks for us on the west coast =/
luckily I can MAYBE watch live if it's always on thursdays. But we'll see I guess.
anyways, I look forward to seeing a lot more hilarious episodes :D
