Does ESV gain enough popularity to sustain itself or even reap any financial benefit that is enough to sustain yourself as well as a living or do you simply do it because of passion?

Also do you think it would be better for there to be a universally used map pool, or should NASL/IPL/MLG all act unilaterally in deciding their maps and take a more laissez faire approach?

How good are you at SC2, and how important is actual competency at the game for managers and/or journalists? (A particular example is Slasher, who has said that he played about 1-2 actual games of SC2 but often likes to make GSL predictions and talks about the game a lot)

How did you first make your start, were you running small tournaments, or working under someone else? Does ESV gain enough popularity to sustain itself or even reap any financial benefit that is enough to sustain yourself as well as a living or do you simply do it because of passion? When I started in E-Sports it was nothing more then a cool side project "iCCup TV". I started roughly 18 months ago give or take. There is some financial benefit, but not enough to fully support me, I pay a lot of my own bills out of some money I had saved. But I love this job. Hopefully with more awareness to the Korean Weekly the financial end will improve. On January 01 2012 06:00 Adebisi wrote: How active has ESV been in lobbying MLG/IPL/Dreamhack/etc to use your maps? What exactly did it take to get Testbug into the MLG pool? Do you think 2012 will be better in terms of the map pool? Also do you think it would be better for there to be a universally used map pool, or should NASL/IPL/MLG all act unilaterally in deciding their maps and take a more laissez faire approach? I have been VERY active and probably most tourney admins hated me for awhile with how active I was. To get Testbug in I flew and stayed at MLG DC (thanks to Haemonculus for giving me a place to stay) and just kept pushing until I happened to meet Lee. I pushed the maps to him, and he said "let's talk". The rest is history. I think 2012 will be better as long as the public demand keeps up. Universal pool would be the best, but really the scene is not ready for it yet. That should be like a goal for 3-4 years out. (A particular example is Slasher, who has said that he played about 1-2 actual games of SC2 but often likes to make GSL predictions and talks about the game a lot) I'm just going to copy paste my original answer. "I have been Diamond with Protoss (ironic I know) since Diamond came around. Never really got much farther due to a lack of time. I have recently picked up Zerg a couple weeks ago and have made Top 1% Plat un less then 50 games. I should have switched a long time ago. As for managers, that depends on your role within the team. Journalists should have a firm grasp on the game, but since ladder ranking is meaningless it's just more what you know vs how you can execute it."

Since you run the Korean Weekly you would have seen some less known players that don't really get the attention they deserve, who is a player that you feel is very talented but has yet to make their mark yet?

Where is your base of operations? Also, do you believe there is room in this world for a starcraft/marijuana enthusiast group? Maybe some sort of event like a barcraft but you get stoned instead of drunk? Also, sorry to have so many questions packed into one but how did you develop so many contacts in the Korean and formerly the Chinese scene (before the controversy involving that).

I think it's growing and looking good and can for sure become as big as real sports. However most people seem to want to rush this too much, people need to look at MMA and the long road they had. Many lessons can be learned from MMA and the UFC on proper growth.

"The Impossible Win", best game I think in the weekly ever. All other vods are at www.esvtv.com and there is too many great games to list. I feel like actually some of the fans or Orb could answer this question better then myself. I am based out of Michigan. I think like anything of course there is "room" for it. I don't know if "bongcraft" is the best idea per se tho. As for the contacts, lots of luck and perseverance. For Korea TorcH was one of the biggest helping hands, and China I did all on my own. On January 01 2012 06:09 RusHXceL wrote: Do you play xbox or ps3 ? Do you like anime? I own a 360. Do you think that this could be the end of Korean Map Maker Dominance within the GSL? Have you talked to, or are planning on talking to GOM to try and get some of the other ESV maps in the regular GSL seasons? Also, do you plan on asking foreigners staying in Korea to participate in the weekly? Absurdly happy. I spent the better part of probably 100 hours this year arguing with Mr Chae and Gisado on why our maps deserve to be in the GSL, and it finally went though. I would love as many of our maps in GSL as possible, but at this second Cloud Kingdom is the only one being discussed. Foreigners are more then welcome, just most don't want to join.
