The amount of gross acting these days to draw penalties is just stupid. On January 01 2012 06:18 Geordie wrote: What is your opinion on Greg "IdrA" fields? Copied from the original AMA: Me and Greg are actually pretty tight I think. We officially met at MLG DC 2010, and since then have hung out every live event I have been to. I have a lot of respect for him and like him quite a bit. Also fun side story, I was the one that found him sleeping in the booth at IPL 3 and went and told Scoots. Since I can't make jokes anymore about you showing up to LAN's, let's go with Sheth or Taeja winning a major event! My two favorite players, and they both deserve it so much !

Any plans to cover/host other tournaments in 2012? And most important, should I prepare fancier bingo cards?

Nope, I still think my punishment was fair. On January 01 2012 06:25 Duravi wrote: Do you think tournaments like NASL, MLG, and ESL will turn a profit in 2012? No, quite possibly, and I cannot figure out their business model for the life of me. On January 01 2012 06:25 Haydin wrote: What are your thoughts on how the ESV weekly is doing? Better or worse than you expected? Any plans to cover/host other tournaments in 2012? And most important, should I prepare fancier bingo cards? Way better then expected. It's a Top 5 or so online tournament viewership wise with great production and great players. very satisfied. I always want more tournaments but I am going to make sure the Korean Weekly is 100% running right before I start new ones. I like to do things 100% right and be able to focus on them. Will cover any TL Opens for sure if they are in 2012, one of the best run tournaments I have ever seen. Yes. On January 01 2012 06:26 Primadog wrote: Do you buy into the eSports bubble argument? Not one bit. Everyone is trying to compare it to how it has happened in the past, but this is different then the past.

Anyways, I have two questions: If you could make Blizzard do one thing for SC2, what would it be? and how about those ESV maps on SEA?

Working on finding someone to publish them for us.

Do you have any comments about how many of them get very few viewers? Do you think it says something about the community when really bad, popular foreigners get thousands of viewers whereas someone amazing like TSL.Revival peaks at 200?

I will have to think about that. On January 01 2012 06:38 BasilForSkin wrote: What are your thoughts on the sudden influx of Korean streamers? It's good and unbelievable for someone that was a BW fan to see Korean pros streaming. I think the Koreans are still running what I call "generation 1 streams". No production, no commentary, no anything. Just music and play. The scene has evolved and they need to up their game if they want more viewers. Also need to stop being terrified of trying to speak English.

I don't really know if you can get more tournaments then there are now. I think however a lot of companies are too focused on making new types of tournaments non stop instead of perfecting what they have. It's one reason I really like IGN/IPL. They take one idea and will work with it for months until it's perfect before they create something else new. I got some new news indeed! The Korean Weekly will be undergoing several structural changes in 2012, the main one being the Monthly Finals have been scrapped. It will be replaced by the ESV TV/Twitch TV Grand Prix. They will run once every eight weeks of play and will contain a total of 36 players! The Top 4 from each weekly will be seeded into the Grand Prix as well as 4 invites (2 foreigner invites, 2 previous champion invites). It will be a double group stage play into an 8 man single elim bracket. Exact format details will be soon. The best part, the Grand Prix will have a $2,000 prize pool!!!!!! The weeklies will remain at $200 at this time. Edit: The Top 4 from the previous 4 weeklies are now seeded into the Grand Prix #1. So only 4 more weeks for players to qualify!
