WC3 is so fr up the charts for that stupid Naruto mod they play...like seriously I walked into a PC room once and 20 computers were playing the same game -.-
However I did start to see more people play SC2 before I came back! SC1 is so popular because for kids they don't need ID cards to make accounts so that makes it easier....also Koreans in general think that SC2 is too hard and they don't want to play it...however when they play a little bit they enjoy it
|
Someone should put up a poll and keep a score in this thread of what side is in the lead argument wise between SC1 and SC2.
EDIT. what, Warcraft3 has a Naruto mod? holy shit must download and try it, sounds awesome!

It's a real shame blizzard's killed popularity in korea by restricting the game's usage in PC bangs. I am yet to see sc2 being playing in a net cafe here, the stats are hardly surprising. If you can't get enough grass roots support here then it's never going to take off in terms of mainstream sponsors the way BW did (other than blizzard) and it shows in the studio crowds.
The expansion won't change anything. I feel SC2 on free to air TV would help alot, Gom just doesn't cut it here. OGN is a must at some point if you want to reach a bigger fanbase.

^ this.
Maybe SC2 won't become the new eSport to look for in Korea but maybe it will become THE eSport to look for in way more countries in the western scene in the future. I wouldn't mind that much tbh.

The game is only 1 year geez...

To be fair to the OP as some seem to be doubting the validity of his PC Bang ranking...
I found a south korean ranking of the most searched games a few months back, and it was pretty much the same as his PC Bang list, minus WC3/SC1 etc. for obvious reasons (they aren't new games so not searched about recently) and SC2 was also absent from this list, and I believe it was ranked up to 12 spots. Just to clarify that although SC2 could potentially be doing well, it's still well out of the top 10 range in terms of popularity.
