Still,BW is much more popular than SC2...
BW proleague has many people in yongsan e-stadium..
Souht korea PCbang ranking chart.(by http://www.gametrics.com/) 1.aion 2.sudden attack 3.fifa online2 4.warcraft3 5.starcraft1 6.dungeon&fighter 7.lineage1 8.maple story 9.league of legends 10.world of warcraft
If HOTS(SC2 expansion) release, the situation might be better?

Surprised Brood War is below some completely random games and even WC3, what kind of chart is that exactly.
And yes it's truely shocking and unexpected that SC2 didn't replace their national sport, now go look at the rest of the world.

GOMTV is watched in over 180 countries, and MLG in 175. I'd rather SC2 to win in 174 countries and fail in 1, than win in 1 and fail in 174.

And yes it's truely shocking and unexpected that SC2 didn't replace their national sport, now go look at the rest of the world. WC3 has a lot of popular UMS (esp. in Korea). BW itself probably gets more play than WC3 but this chart can't exactly show that.
On topic: "Not as big as BW" != failure. Many fans of both games would say that SC2 doesn't meet the BW standard currently (ZvT is the only matchup that really amazes like BW, at least for me) but the community behind it is much larger. With time and careful attention (i.e expansions) the game will blossom. Look at WC3's relative success, and by the standards of ex-pro's it can't begin to compare to either starcraft.
Would be nice to see a real post with more content. This probably isn't enough to get decent discussion going.

Starcraft, with SC2, isn't about Korea anymore. It's about the whole world.
And a PC bang chart isn't exactly a good measurement for the popularity of a game that's much more restrictive registration-wise than BW.

How about a fairer allocation of wealth then, stop the majority of fans paying for the minority's content? #occupyGOM Also fuck their ghetto ass stream.

Dota is pretty popular in malaysia however sc2 , around 1 or 2 individual playing 5v5 , seems like sc2 hasn't struck popularity as it did when broodwar was released in the year 1998 in malaysia .

Do you know the Korean stream of GSL is free, completely HD, along with free VOD?

So, according to your chart, wc3 is more played than sc1? the fuck? (must be some dota)

I would say GOM failed in Korea. It's their job to promote it and they would benefit the most from it, also surprising w3 higher than BW ?! I'm starting to doubt that list.

That's besides the point. Even if SC2 die tomorrow, BW's glory days won't come back. The viewership that tune in to StarCraft 2 today will just move on to the mobas or the MMOs.
I am still awe struck that nearly two years in, TL is still having this conversation. BW is downsizing because of reasons other than the sequel, a decline that begun in 2005 or so that hasn't reversed its course. So stop.
Remember BW fans, the site you spent your time hating on SC2 fans on is bankrolled by SC2 fans.

If you provide the _best_ content, you'll get the most pay. There is no other tournament with the quality of play that GOM has, and that's a fact.

ALSO: GSL entry are always free, in fact, they give you pizza and thundersticks.
