Let me start off by saying ZvT is my favorite match up by far, I'm not all that fond of ZvZ or ZvP I actually prefer ZvZ over ZvP. ZvP Is just not that fun to play. This is just me talking about how annoyed I get at ladder.
I played some Starcraft 2 ladder last night, All was going well and then I get 3 Toss in a row. I shook it off as I needed to go to bed anyways. So I come in from work today excited to play! I load up and start searching, Oh a Toss I finish that game looking forward to the next another Toss! I sigh and continue to play and what do you know? Another Toss!
So I'm getting annoyed at ladder because of the endless number of Tosses. I have stopped playing for now at 10 ZvPs in a row. Its getting ridiculous I mean its not even losing that's bothering me. I lost all 3 last night and won 5 out of 7 today. I would just like some variety! I don't really know anyone to message to play either so its ladder or custom. Even if I was to go custom I couldn't choose their race anyways.
I just really want to play some ZvT, I had like 4 ZvTs yesterday if I recall, and one out of 4 got to macro games for the reason I scouted a them being greedy/doing some all in non-sense.
So its Tal'Darim Altar and I see him doing a Reactored Hellion Expo I had sent my second Overlord to the top base as I can park it on that cliff at their expo if their there. So he was and I saw everything with my Overlord as he didn't know it was there. So I get perfect intel I drop my Roach Warren and see he hasn't stopped Hellion production after the first 4 and hasn't placed his expo. So I make about 10 Roaches and leave them at my expo. Eventually he drops his CC and proceeds to bring his Hellions from his main to meet up with the scouting 4. He had a good 10-15 Hellions and when they ran into my Roaches he insta-quits. Its understandable, as he had no defense but shouldn't you scout if their going Roaches before doing such a build?
This one I can't really remember what he opened for sure. I get the same guy again I believe the map was Nezarim Crypt and he does a 1 Rax 1 Fact Hellion pressure, With like 6 Marines and 1-2 Hellions. (I've never seen it before) So I stop his push losing no Drones and being ahead in units lost. So I decide to Bling bust while sacing my Overlord into his main. The Overlord being shot by Marines just gets in enough to show me that my Bust should work! I see his expo Orbital being lifted and another CC being built and also a Starport. So I make 4 Banelings and send my Lings and Banelings in I see one Bunker and a couple Hellions on his ramp I choose not to bust the Bunker and let my Lings handle it, then I saw it all his SCVs lined up going for his main! I send my Banelings towards them taking them all out, so I figure even if I lose this attack I may still be ahead. Without my Banelings I can't get into his main as he has SCVs on his Depot to repair already so I morph some more Banelings out of my remaining Lings and bust it as soon as his first Banshee pops the Depot didn't die but with nothing to kill them Lings are pretty good against Depots.
The only one that got to a macro game was after I Roach/Ling all in vs a Hellion expand I do decent damage got some SCVs made him lift into main for awhile and took my own third while powering Drones. So it eventually turns into him with the Gold PF his third PF and Tanks all around the gold. I have the top 5 bases maxed and am floating tons of Minerals! I just never can figure out what to do vs a Tank line I'm always to nervous to attack into as I've lost many games I've been ahead by doing that. So eventually I dropped a few Ultras in his main and tossed Banelings and Ultras at his PFs taking them out. He never pushed out to find out I had burrowed Banelings in the path to my base its (close air Metal btw) so when he marches and is supposed to be ahead because I have to remake my Banelings he loses half of his Marines right there, and my Ling re-max was able to decimate the rest. So it was a long boring game.
I had a Terran marching out at my main with a hand full of Marines about 8~ so I sent my pair of Lings into his main to scout he had FE. Run by his FE into his main to find another CC. Which I had my Warren down as I'm wanting to try Roaches in this MU. So long story short Roach Lings>3 CC 1 Bunker.
The ZvZs were pretty standard I was surprised as no one tried a 6Pool Drone all in. I usually see a couple of those every few ZvZs I get.
So I'm so frustrated at never getting ZvTs without the Terran just asking for me to all in I never really get to play the match-up. I mean if I scout 2 CCs before any units are out like MMA/MVP? style I'm obviously going to all in. Then I don't get the ZvTs I crave.
I planned on just talking about how annoyed I am with Ladder but typing out what happened in my games was fun so I couldn't stop. I understand no one probably cares about what happened to me on ladder but it doesn't matter. I enjoyed writing this as I love to type and I love Starcraft, So combining them both just makes sense.
As of now 10 Tosses in a row and I'm done for now. Will update when I play again if I got another Toss! My current streaks: Zerg: 7 Toss: 10 Terran: Not enough.

Similar stuff happens to me, too. One day, you get a million protoss, and then you face billions of zergs, the next day. I feel like they do this because they have soft "map of the day" thing and each map is favored by a race. (Not sure because I'm random).
|
Funnily (is that even a word?) enough, I have the same problem on EU ladder as Zerg. Lots of Protoss and Zerg, and hardly any Terran.
And this can't be linked to vetos, since I play all maps (that's how hardcore I am :D)
|
Mine could be veto if only slightly as I have Xel'Naga Caverns on the list but nothing else.
|
Terran are diminishing every days, because Protoss and Zerg are felt to be easier. Can't agree with people thinking Zerg being easier, but for sure protoss are. Every matchup they got is so volatile. But I'm just a whining bitch, according to protoss brethren

I would believe you if there was ever a consensus on which race is the one that people always go up against. But there's a new thread every day about how many tosses there are, and one for how many terrans there are, and one for how many zergs there are. It's going to happen.

Oh I know, I see threads all the time about it. I'm not saying that there are less Terrans than there are Tosses, As I don't have that information I'm just wanting to vent a little and spend some time off of Starcraft2 so I figured I'd make a blog about my dreaded streak with Protoss. I just wish the ladder would have some way if only slightly to lean away from giving you the same race to many times in a row.
I'm sure it doesn't bother many people but I personally don't like to play 10 ZvPs in a row.

And yes I have this problem too on EU, it's just so many damn P and Z. If I go Terran I get TvP and TvZ almost every time and when I go Zerg I almost never get ZvT. Pretty annoying .
Here you can see how many % Terran, Protoss and Zerg there is. There is more Z and P in almost every league. http://sc2ranks.com/stats/race/eu/1

I personally love playing one matchup repeatedly... I feel like it's the only way to really learn.
I play a zvp, oh hey, he did x, i now know to scout for x at ~#:## next game nevermind, next game is a zvt. but the t did x, so now i know to scout for x at ~#:## next game nevermind, next game is a zvz, but z did x, so now i know to scout for x at ~#:## next game OH BOY A ZVP AGAIN! now... wait... what was it I learned?
that's right, nothing.

After checking there are 30% Terran, 32% Protoss and Zerg in my league. Its not that big of a difference so I don't see why I rarely get a Terran.

that's right, nothing. That is understandable which I don't mind the same match-up a few times but 10 in a row is just absurd.

I had a day on the ladder where I hit 13 zergs 9 protoss and a single terran. I think there are just too many zergs and protoss on NA and EU, though I may be wrong. Sure feels like it.

Imagine if 2 or 3 of those 10 were all against the same person/people.
Bleeehhh.

My favorite MU is TvT.
According to sc2gears, I've had 18 TvZ, 18 TvP, 4 TvT. edit: this season.
From my sample size I can only imagine that despite everyone saying T OP, fewer people play T than Z/P... Can only imagine why though. Pretty unfortunate, I agree.
|
I really don't face terran that much. It seems like it becomes less popular the higher the league is
^@Ktk I think fewer people play terran because it is perceived as the OP race
|
I haven't faced terran for a long time (TvT) but suddenly today I hit like 7 in a row! Ladder does sometimes seem streaky like that.
|
Yeah, ladder is insanely annoying >.< I played 3 games yesterday, 2 of them being Shettered Temple. Yoday, I played 7 more games, and 5 of those were Shattered Temple too. I am getting really annoyed with that god damn map D:
|
Happens too me all the time.
|
Yea, no one plays Terran.
And ZvT is the best match up. By far.
|
Patterns will appear to emerge in any randomized system. This is because you aren't going to remember the days you played a mix of races on a mix of maps. You will remember when it "seems less random," just like you remember when you roll 12 5 times in a row in monopoly.
That said, I played like 10 ladder games yesterday, and I swear at least 8 were on Antiga. Good thing I love that map.
