So Beauty.346 how did you get into SC2? I tried a few times to get my girlfriend to play it but she doesn't care for it. Maybe I'm taking the wrong approach. We used to play WC3 UMS together a lot, tower defense and that sort of stuff, so she has some idea about how to use a similar interface and isn't entirely uncomfortable with it.
I am pretty much a chill and cool girl willing to try new things. My friends who I party with introduced me to Halo and other games then one of my super good friends (who is super bad at this game but I love him) introduced me to SC2. It was pretty easy to learn even though I still call zerg the 'bug' race.
How quickly did you get to Masters, and what RTS background did you have? Do you have to play more than casually to get to Masters?
I only play casually and I've been stuck in Platinum for a while. I would practice more, but almost any time I intend to play, I visit TeamLiquid first and see an interesting tournament in the calender side bar and just watch instead.
You're going to call bullshit but I got masters my first 5 games doing 1's, I did not loose a single one during my 5's or I may of lost one. I did team 2's 3's and 4's before I tried ones with my friend and his friends that were in his clan at the time. just So I could get more of a feel for the game. I made it to masters last season and that was my first season. My playtime is off and on I am hardley on during weekends and I am still in Highschool school so I more so play at night on weekends. I don't know what RTS means what is that? I did some tourneys like in clan ones but I am not here to make money to be honest I am just here to put guys in there place :-p.
Wow.
If you are for real, you have talent, and would probably be competitive at the higher levels with dedicated practice and coaching. Of course that life isn't for everyone, but it makes me wonder how many people are out there with this kind of untapped potential.
Haha thanks I guess, I play on a laptop a MacBook Pro with a touch mouse pad tab. I was just informed that it is easier to play with a mouse so I am about to go get one and see how that goes. I mean I still do have a lot to learn but I think I am doing pretty good so far.
You've got to be shitting. Please post a video of this I would be extremely impressed.
people who claim that the top 2% of a population are to be considered the average should go play some games instead of reasoning and argumenting, please stick to what you're (perhaps) good at.
OT: Nice to see the female "scene" is getting some coverage and interest lately, sparks some hope that esports might become more interesting to a wider audience eventually.
On November 25 2011 18:00 Velr wrote: Why do i think it's easy to go Masters?
Look at the divisions: Half of them are empty/inactive. In my Diamond division only the top 20 had more than ~50 wins and iirc only the top 5 over 100... This was a few days before the end of last season (i stopped playing "often" around decembre last year, since than i might have ~5 games a month, most probably less). Thats why i think AND it is easy to get Masters when you put in some effort. While masters might only be the top ~5% of all the players, it's also only like 5% of all the players actually putting some effort into this game. The rest is casually playing a few games when they feel like it. whiteout thinking about "Builds" or whatever else you guys think is required to get out of Gold (rofl)
Btw: On TL there is bound to be a pretty high density of Masters-Players.. Or at least Diamond... Why? Peopel that go here actually care about the game.. The Guys i know that are in Bronze - Gold are people that really don't give shit and just play some guys for the pure fun of it whiteout really thinking about anything they do.
So you're not even in Masters?
While it's true that it's just the beginning of the real learning, it's still a solid achievement.
No, i'm not (I got put in Diamond after release, was mid diamond with 1xxx Bonuspool until I basically stopped playing.. Which was 11 months ago, there was no master-league then, and now I'm sitting still in diamond). Becoming masters may be a "solid" achievement but judging from my flist: Everyone that was any decent (which means not downright horrible) was Diamond and is now Masters OR stopped playing/plays as much as me (then they are Platin or Diamond). The worst that "happened" to some, that really did not play for like half a year or more, was dropping down to Plat.
Therefore I really just can't imagine that anyone that takes this game any serious(!!!!!) is still Platin or lower... My experience just tells me that everyone, no matter his RTS experience, that put in a little bit of effort AND is still active is Diamond or higher.
But yes, your right, becoming Masters is an achievement if you started at absolute 0. But for most people with "serious" RTS experience it should just be "the expected" and nit does ot mean that your good or anything (but my senses might be warped due to a long time ago(!) being pretty decent at SC/BW and WC3c(top 100 northend-ladder))... All it means is, that you are now actually playing against people that are also actually playing the game and aren't just messing around.
About the Masters = Top 2% of the whole ladder. True... But think about this number and look at the divisions. 80% (or just a HUGE part) of the players are nearly inactive. So the Top 2% quickly become like the Top 20% of people actually playing enough to get their bonuspool down .

BULL SHIT. No RTS experience (don't even know what it means), won your first 5 games, got masters, stayed there continued to win, play on touch mouse pad (who cares how long you used it... WTF?) I'm sorry but all of this screams someone trolling to me. But I think you proved your point if you are trolling. Post a cute picture of a chick that you know and agreed to post a sign confirming your information and BOOM instant reacting from our community. Sure I could be completely wrong but yah... get the fuck out... so much crazy as shit to believe. Also how does sending a replay prove anything except you have a replay under that ID that you played a game? It would need to be a video of this girl playing on a mac book pro using a touch pad beating another masters player on ladder and THEN submit that replay. Any other way and I would continue to be a doubter. I'd love to for you to force me to shove my foot in my mouth (not some strange fetish) but I'm not very concerned it will happen.

Not saying it's trolling/not trolling I don't really care either way, but I can tell you that my step-father beat my in Unreal Tournament with touch pad some years ago, he was insanely good at one point though with mouse/keyboard, but that was an FPS. Just saying that some people can actually learn to use the touch pad pretty well.
That puts a different twist on it I guess... I just have a really hard time believe the story with all those elements together. And just randomly she's hot as hell. Just to much for me. How did this person get all the perfect DNA?
First of all I am 17 so talking about my cupsize is out of line and I am offended. 2nd of all I joined this site because people from the channels I hang out in are on it. Clan XN, Clan BZK, and z33k. Third of all, this below. clearly my cupsize, again.
My bad, I apologize. Obviously I misread the sign, so no reason to be offended (also there's nothing wrong with your cupsize, chill out ). Like I said, there never was any insult intended, I just stated how your post seemed to me. Since my perception of your post has nothing to do with yourself as a person (or my perception of yourself as a person for that matter- like I could tell from a single post) why be offended. If your story is true it's all good and you've come to the right place. <3

Beauty just the fact that you are defining yourself as a girl playing a game and not someone playing a game makes me lose all hope for women in eSports. Can't you just be someone with similar interests as us and not a girl with similar interests than us? Sort of disappointing really. And the only reason I'm saying this is because you're obvy going out of your way to make your sex known.

It's extremely pathetic, but then again, it fits with the rest of this thread. Ultimately, until the stigma of gaming is abolished, as long a process as that is, we're going to see this sort of behavior from women and those who fawn over them, and those that go out of their way to terrorize anyone who deviates from the accepted norm within their subculture.

I played 2's 3's and 4's before I did 1's. I got placed into Diamond RANDOM with 3's and 4's. Then I did teams with 2's 3's and 4's and with my team I got to masters. Then I did single player and then did my games and got my masters Icon. Then the new season. Did 1 single game won it then I got my masters back. Then I did team games and randoms. As I have been saying the whole time but I guess I have to repeat myself like ten times but it's cool. I play on a macbook pro with a touch square mouse pad which I did use to get to my masters, it's not that hard to believe because I always use labtops and touch pads.
