You know something is incredible when Glaze aka WoodenToaster himself comments with this: "Yeah so notive, you are by no doubt on of my favorite brony musicians. Hot damn your vocals are amazing, I hope you get all your tracks up on youtube dude." Besides, it's wet-mane Rarity! :D Dayum this is fucking amazing

___________________ It sounded like such a good idea at the time. Some of you may still be alive to remember that I once asked this during the TeamLiquid Mare-A-Thon: I think this qualifies as overdue. But, in all fairness, you guys made it almost impossible for us. I don't think you guys realize just how many times it took reading every post to even begin weeding them out, much less make it to the playoffs. And I don't think you realize how hard of a decision this was for us. The top entries were all phenomenal and completely worthy, and for every person I tried to cut, I kept flashing back to The Ticket Master. In the end, however, we had to man up and make a decision, because we didn't have five golden tickets to give. And, since I'm a right bastard, I'm going to make you suffer through the final nominees as I give my thoughts on each before I announce the winner. The top 6, in no particular order, were: Zephirdd The post I don't have to mention why Zephirdd likes the show. I don't have to mention what he personally finds appealing about it. I don't even have to mention that Zephirdd delivered a personal perspective on why the fanbase in particular is so enjoyable as the heart of his post. I don't have to mention any of that, poignant as it was. Because he said this. "The show makes me smile." I doubt you'll find a purer sentiment. _______________ flavorless The post flavorless did exactly what I hoped people would do: Explain why they like the show so much, and give their perspective with a personal touch. He spent six paragraphs giving his own take on it, as well as analyzing the fandom and what it does to people in general, how it affects us. Only then did he come back to the things we all love, almost as an afterthought: The quirks, the twists, the songs, the artistic details, the awesome community. Stuff that simply doesn't need elaboration. But that's not the best part. The best part was that he ended with quite possibly the best quote I've heard all year. "My Little Pony is not my life. It just makes my life better." flavorless, I fucking salute you. _______________ phant The post The standard spiel on why the show is good isn't what's at the heart of this post. phant, the person, is. This was the most personal story of the bunch. To read about old friends lost, how life changed for the worse leading up to the show, and then how it changed for the better in every way upon its introduction was heartwarming. To talk about sharing the experience with your friends, of being enthusiastic and excited about getting people to understand why the show is so great... I think I may have heard this before somewhere. _______________ BioSC The post It's harder for me to put down this post in a nutshell, because this particular entry is the entry in its entirety. This was simply well written, cohesive, with a nice historic touch. I wish I had more to say, except kudos. _______________ RoKetha The post Holy essay. RoKetha had the most grounded, down-to-earth gushing of praise of the lot, which I found an interesting dichotomy. To be able to turn a critical eye on something and still find it deserving of your praise and attention. Hell, RoK said it better: "I believe that it is very empowering to be able to review something you love and point out exactly why you love it, but also to nitpick its flaws because you are in the best position to spot them if you really look. Doing so is what gives me confidence that I'm not a hopeless dope obsessed with the show because it's trendy or ironic." This echoes in my mind, and is another nice quote. I'm preaching to the choir, here, but we really do like this show because it's simply good. _______________ GaryOak The post Gary Oak. Jesus Christ. I am not the right person to judge your post. There are far too many parallels between us -- how we approached the show, how it affected us, how it changed us. Like you, I have a massive positive emotional response to Sonic Rainboom and Cutie Mark Crusaders. Like you, the show made me realize what I want to do in the world. I want to create something for others to be entertained by, to be inspired by, and to have a positive influence on other people, be it with game design, writing, or media. SOUND FUCKING FAMILIAR? The decision. I narrowed it down to two. I won't say who the runner-up was. I had just finished reading the runner-up's post for the 9th time. It was awesome. I wanted to reward it with ponies. I still do. But then, I want to reward all of them with ponies. I finished reading it, then I tabbed to the last post, intending to read it again to see if I could discover some new nuances and subtleties, when something clicked in my mind. That's not what it was about. I told my fellow judge what I had just realized (which I will tell all of you shortly), and he agreed. To cap it off, he even sent the last two posts to a third, unbiased party, who concurred with our final verdict. We had our decision. Gary Oak's post is about how significant an impact the show has had on his life, how it's changed his outlook on life, and how it's literally given him a new goal - a new path to follow. To experience something like this show in a that way only an impassioned fan could, and not to say "I want to experience this", but "I want to make stuff like this. To entertain people like this show has entertained me." That is powerful as hell. And it echoes the rest of his post. But Gary also did something else. I asked him what he personally likes about the show, and why. He responded by saying how wonderful it is to read about the amazing positive effects it has on everybody else. I mean... that's the show. That's the show right fucking there. I won't be doing this again. Not in this manner, at any rate. I'd still love to do giveaways for any future Mare-A-Thons, but they will take on somewhat different aspects than this. This really was an incredibly tough decision, and I was banging my head against the monitor for days, and I know I'll be feeling bad for a while for disappointing everybody else. I've mentioned in the past that this "contest" was really just there to give people an excuse to write up what they already felt about the show, or to get people to actually think about it and put it down in words if they hadn't yet given it much consideration. It was also an excuse to get a bunch of good Notable Posts for the OP, for others to read should they ever find themselves interested in this strange little fandom of ours. The pony swag was secondary. But you're getting it anyway. Gary, you put in a lot of time and effort into the post, and though it was long, it didn't bore me in the slightest. You get your choice of two items of pony swag from WeLoveFine and/or RedBubble, be they shirts, hoodies, posters, what-have-you. I'll PM you to work out the details. To everyone else, you guys are amazing. Thank you for the privilege of reading your posts, and fuck you for making this whole thing so god damned impossible. =P Dear Universe, now can I PLEASE have the freaking Luna plushie for my birthday already?

To what I came here for. I apologized if this has been posted before, I find this thread hard to follow due to speed and spoilers but I didn't see it. Anyway, I noticed in the most recent episode s2e6, there's a picture on the wall in Applejack's house with two pony farmers on it. I wonder could this be her parents?? I googled, and sure enough I wasn't the only one who noticed, there is thread on reddit. There's a screen grab below, spoiled just in case. + Show Spoiler + Now the interesting thing is the male pony is not wearing Applejack's hat, which has long been rumored to have belonged to her father. The concensus on reddit seems to be that it's a reference to the painting American Gothic, but this makes even less sense; why would the Apple family have modern art on the wall? This seems out of character for them. Personally, I'm guessing it is supposed to be some distant family members. But what do you guys think? Parents or random ponies? edit: looks like the image is not resizing properly, just right click and hit "view image"

I'm glad I managed to pull it off at the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hsx9xGY9bc New Description of Gary Oak. Words: NOW WITH: -Horn of Douchebaggery for performing cheap tricks to bedazzle the simple minded (Cane). -Eyes of Contempt That look down upon those deemed "lesser" (TLBronies). -Lips of Deceit which tell lies of apparent "Greatness and Power." And I, like the mighty Seth, have found myself inexplicably attracted to this image of the... GREAT AND POWERFUL GARY OAK. Despite all else, I cannot help but love mah sweet and wonderful Gary Oak~ I weep silently at his greatness and the bittersweet acceptance, that I, who will never be grandiose enough to earn Sir Gary Oaks attention, must follow silently in his shadow.... stalking. Congratulations and lots of love <3 XD.

And besides, 'high art' interpretation is not necessary when someone buys a copy of a famous painting. Aesthetics usually play more of a part.
