Seeking legal action would take time and money that would, in the long term perhaps, bring Gus to justice, but in the short term nothing can be done. By the time any kind of legal case is presented in court, the actual IPL4 will probably be over. In fact, even if the case went to court tomorrow it wouldn't help. IPL would not be able to rectify all of Gus's wrongdoings without completely restarting this Qualifier tournament, and they can't and won't do that.
The most immediate and impactful thing we can do to stop Gus is to air him out to dry and blacklist him, even if it's only in theory and not really followed through. His name and the AZK team will be marred by this for a long time to come, and I know for sure that IPL will never work with him again (hell, they've probably got their own personal blacklist of shady organizers). I'm sure someone, somewhere will give the guy another chance, but with all of this drama it certainly won't be for a long time.

i hope that he never organize a tournament again.

From what I've observed Dox seems like a really awesome guy trying really hard to make things work for the SEA scene. I hope it's successful and he can avoid people like Gus in the future.
Keep fighting Dox! We supported you when Major tried to scam you and we support you now too

I'm wondering if anyone sould be warning Sickness and Js about what they're getting into.
|
I have a question: What is the likelihood that the winner of this tournament will be paid out?
|
Keep fighting SEA Community! We know you are awesome. People like Gus exist everywhere. Its just a shame this was the biggest chance SEA had so far to make an impact... Oh dear
And dox, great writeup and keep doing e-sports - it looks like ur the kind of guy the SEA community needs

so ridiculous and unprofessional....what a travesty it has become. sigh
|
Fucking AZK... they're so full of shit. Can't believe they even did the brackets bullshit.
|
Lol so the mods in the chat went a little ban crazy.
|
What a farce. Hope the community learns from this and stays the heck away from Gus.
Also, thanks OP for everything.
|
To be honest I think the wannabe Destiny's quote in the chatbox above pretty much sums up this event and Gus's shit: ftgyuujh
Also, how come 3700 ppl are still watching that bullshit. Give in to your hate fellow eSPORTSfans

Suing somebody in your own country is already really long, time consuming and expensive, but suing someone in a foreign country (especially when it's a developing country) for, at most 10 000$ ? Unfortunately it's not going to be worth it, all you can do is boycott and try to prevent this guy from doing anything in e-sport, but he will probably get away with his scam.
I really feel sad concerning this story, a lot a passionate people (organisers, players etc) were affected by that, I hope they won't loose their drive for e-sport. I also hope that nexsickness will leave team AZK, this team is obviously a scam.. violet made the right move.

Just support the tournament. I think it's clear that Gus is at an end and whatever unprofessional ulterior motives or goals that he may have will never happen. Which is a big hooray for everyone.
In the end, people are doing damage control to give the players and viewers a great tournament despite the setbacks. It's all about for the love of the game now.

Being an SEA player this situation really makes me angry... we don't get many tournaments like this!

Good Guy MoonGlade Declined the Bribe From Gus Props to him!

Probably better people didn't know the details i found out..

Thanks for posting and letting us know about this, never thought someone within the sc2 community could be so corrupt. Ban these people from all future events and communities.
|
Thanks for letting us know...Such a shame! But the worst thing is that they even magically changed the brackets in order to give azk players a better chance to win in the tourney. That's just sad an ruining e-Sports.
I really wish we had an international tournament control who is able to ban such "organisers" for a lifetime.
