In relation to the article that caused the shit storm, I agree with the sentiment that BW is something special... That it is something on a whole other level compared to other competitive games... I don't give a shit who is speaking, it could be Wheat or the fucking second coming of Jesus for all I care, BW has reached a level of skill, entertainment, popularity and penetration that no other game has to date.
BUT...
The rest of your sentiment (that because of what BW has done, no other game is worthy of anyone's time) is understandably being attacked.
You've done heaps for this community. Much of it without anything but our thanks. Despite your post, you know that people do appreciate it.
In any event, if you do in fact stay away, I'm pretty confident you'll regret it. This good bye post is the type of angsty, emo drivel you will look back on in a few years and laugh at.

I tried asking for Boxer's autograph there when he was with a girl translator and her response was simply, "I'm sorry, he can't do any autographs right now." I tried asking for Incontrol and Tyler's autograph even when they went 0-5 in their pool play and their responses were all along the lines of "sorry, I can't do that right now, maybe later."
However, when I tried to go up to MKP for his autograph, instead of Milkis just saying "sorry no autographs" or something like that, his response was yelling "NO! STOP! NO!" in the most obnoxious way and basically treated me like the scam of the earth. Now at first I thought maybe I just caught them at a bad moment, but later I found out all my friends who attended the event (there were around 30 of them) had a similar experience with Milkis sometime or another during the event.
Naturally, I understand that the Korean players are the most popular for autographs at the event and it's the translator's job to make sure they don't get swarmed. However, there's different ways to approach the issue (even when you are under stress). If the other translators can calmly, and nicely reject the fans, why shouldn't Milkis be held to the same standard? Heck, even Incontrol and Tyler, who both were something around 4-18 the last 3 MLGs as progamers can still talk to the fans calmly.
After MLG, I just can't help but feel like he's an elitest asshole that doesn't truly care about the fans and only likes the positive attention he gets from doing it. However, even though I do not like his attitude, I do respect all the translation + work he's done so I hope him the best in whatever he does in the future.
EDIT: Just as a disclaimer, I made sure I didn't go up to players at bad times like right before or after they played a game for autographs. I tried as hard as possible to go find time at a time when they weren't really doing anything and everytime I asked I tried to be as nice + non-forceful as possible.
Was one of those 30ish people. I swear one time HongUn was sitting near the mini main stage thing (stations 1/2) and Milkis was like NO DONT SIT THERE, PEOPLE WILL ASK YOU FOR YOUR AUTOGRAPHS!!" and persuaded him to sit elsewhere. Now if that's what actually happened, I don't know. I already explained my experience with Milkis at MLG Orlando on reddit, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt (although I did say he was "kind of an asshole" in my dealings with him.)
The short version is Milkis didn't seem to want to "share" his Korean programing friends. God forbid someone want to get an autograph, even if they were just watching MKP ladder or going to the bathroom.
So in short, you have no idea at all why he did what he did, so you decided to interpret it in a very negative way and judge his character for it? What?
Actually, I posted on reddit about it. Milkis responded. He basically didn't really say much about it except to try and understand his situation (which he didn't actually say much about) and I'm going off of multiple encounters I had with him, observations, and several other people who ran into similar experiences. I'm judging his character negatively from personal interaction, his posts on reddit/TL, and experience from other people I know who encountered him. Now maybe it's not fair for me to assume that's what happened with HongUn, but it would not be unreasonable after considering all I knew about him at the time.
I'm not sure how much more plainly I can put it. I interacted with Milkis. He was not what I would call "nice" or "personable" in any of those encounters. He seemed to have a big problem with people trying to interact with Korean progamers, whether or not they were doing anything. I went to MLG with about 30 people, and everyone I talked to had the same experience. Not one person said "oh man really? I talked to Milkis. He was so nice!" They did however agree with me that Polt was incredibly nice, polite, and humble. So draw your own conclusions.

The top reply on reddit is by djwheat. Is he one of the "the same shitty people" you're talking about? Because his criticism was right on the spot and, unlike the original troll post, well articulated and inoffensive.
I love how you are so passionate and intimate about the BW scene and what is stands for. But your ongoing attacks towards any non-BW related eSports is quite frankly fucking bullshit. You disrespect every gamer who has participated in eSports for the past 13 years. You act as if no one else ever even cared about another game. That other gamers didn't put blood, sweat, and tears into their game of choice. You claim that BW is the only eSport, but I think eSports is the thousands of gamers (whether they play CS, Carom 3D, BW, WC3, Street Fighter, etc) who have a level of passion for the game that transcends what's normal. The same gamers who compete on the highest tier of their level. You just said fuck you to Justin Wong and Daigo. You just said fuck you to Zero4 and Tox1c. You just said fuck you to cArn and Frod. How can you say fuck you to the legends who have put just as much of an effort into their game as someone like Flash or Jaedong?
It's pretty much a direct attack, it has nothing to do with anything Milkis wrote in his post and Milkis' post didn't imply any of that at all. Where in his post does Milkis say "fuck you" to ANYBODY?
His post was straight up inflammatory and an invitation for the reddit lynch mob to go to work. It's a shit post.
I have to agree on this. DJWheat is a respected and large community figure but his reply is repulsive. He says he's so sick of "milkis ongoing attacks to any non-bw games" but it's the first one i've ever seen. Then he claims Milkis just said "Fuck you" to every other player of evey other game which he didn't. I don't agree with Milkis' post but you don't have to go crazy bat-shit and being a big community figure i'd expect some formality from him especially when arguing about something you base your work around

I dunno what else this blog post is, man. To say "good riddance" to the community that gave you a voice in the first place seems a little bit odd.
I have to concur with Wolf here.
Not sure but the blog to me came off as blaming things on the community; for peoples reactions about Elitist BW opinions that Milkis; insisted BW was the only True Real E-Sport. (What about SC2 Milkis?)
I'm not sure i understand why Milkis says this when he's there at MLG translating for the friqin Event.
Way to crap on community on the way out?; Sorry -.-
Disappointing. This community will let the most irrelevant voices - the professional rioters and trolls - devour its personalities long before it has a chance to establish itself outside of those personalities. Kelly and Gretorp, Incontrol and Totalbiscuit, Xeris, now Milkis - what about tomorrow, when the JP and Tasteless hate trains get rolling? When finally the pitchforks finally sense vulnerability and find even Day9?
There are still far too few contributors in the community today for it to lose them over something as petty as this, and in as public a fashion. This is in many ways still a grassroots community, heavily dependent on volunteers, with marginal infrastructure and support. With the way it fails to circle wagons around people when they make mistakes, as Milkis did, why should any new blood take the risk? Especially when it's insiders wielding their own followings as cudgels to beat each other, by intention (incontrol v. totalbiscuit) or chance (wheat on milkis) - the outcome invariably becomes pitchforkers using statements by the insiders as cover for spewing vitriol. Who does that serve?
Wheat. This is on his thin skin nearly as much as it is on Milkis'. Milkis was broadly disparaging, but wasn't personal. Wheat clearly took it personally and responded pejoratively. It's understandable that wheat take exception to the insinuation that he basically spent the last decade of his life contributing to what amounts to minor league baseball / the CFL / MLS. Still, Milkis wasn't flipping him the bird, and Daigo and Justin Wong certainly don't give a shit what Milkis thinks. Okay, so wheat thinks a series of "fuck you"s passes for normal debate; that's his personality (see - Slasher). He doesn't need to be so insecure as to use his own greater standing in the community to shout down Milkis, especially when he has a perfectly good forum (his show) to have, you know, an actual conversation with him.
TL; DR: To quote my brother, who's currently playing Battlefield 3: "Mmm, zealot. That's not a zealot. What shot me? Yeah Jesus!"

First of all, Milkis is a decent translator and he's been extremely quick in spotting starcraft related news/tweet from Korea and bringing them over here. Surely he's made a nice contribution to the foreign starcraft community since the brood war days.
Okay, with that out of the way,
I never wanted to be popular nor did I want attention (although I guess I did enjoy it, but it's not something I ever wanted). It's the last thing I wanted.
Not the first time I saw someone throw a fit and make a long post about him/herself leaving an internet forum/community. Unfortunately, most of the time, they are looking for attention, pity, and reassurance. They are looking to see replies along the lines of "Don't leave! You're awesome! Haters gotta hate!"
And this is the reply I always give to those people.

Part of it is in Fangzhou's post on page 60.
Yeah... do you guys needs anecdote lessons or what? Look back at the Xeris hate-train -- that had some good, rabble-rousing anecdotes. Those made me proper indignant.
Milkis, you do know that this is the internet, right? The same place that has a porn version of anything that exists. As a guy who has done some live translation work (Swedish -> English), I know how hard it can be. I know that you feel under-appreciated. Deal with it. Most of us have to work at places where we're just another cog in the wheel. I don't see what you hope to accomplish with this post, besides either not being able to filter a hissy-fit, or to get some better treatment/benefits/pay-rate from MLG (I actually don't know what your relationship is with MLG, tbh). I honestly enjoy it when you translate for the Koreans at MLG. However, do you think you're the only one who can do what you do? The number of Korean-Americans in Cali alone tells me no. Man up and ignore the trolls, because posts like this is exactly what they want. Whenever you post an opinion on the internet, you will run into opposing arguments, some real, some trolling. Good luck with whatever you decide, but it's never a good idea to burn bridges, especially with a community that thinks highly of you.

Whenever someone tried to ask any of the Korean players for an autograph, he would have the most "dickish" way to reject the fans.
So this is pretty vague. If you have better anecdotes than the weak one you provided, we're all listening.
We, huh?
Hey, you and me both can play the ominously vague peer pressure card
Part of it is in Fangzhou's post on page 60.
Yeah... do you guys needs anecdote lessons or what? Look back at the Xeris hate-train -- that had some good, rabble-rousing anecdotes. Those made me proper indignant.
Yours are kind lame. No offense.
What exactly is your deal? Here are some stories. I met Milkis near stations 1 and 2 while some games were going on. We said a couple lines to each other, mentioned we were both tired. I mentioned I drank a lot friday night. He said he had no sympathy for me. I asked if he would sign something, he said NO I do not sign things. Then he walked off. He didn't say it was nice meeting you. Gotta go. He just left immediately after I asked, leading me to believe it bothered him.
Another time some people were trying to get autographs from Boxer I believe. He literally shouted at people saying NO DONT EVEN TRY IT while also making a hand gesture at everyone.
On other occasions when I saw others try to get autographs or talk to korean progamers, Milkis would try to make people go away, saying the players can't sign right now (even if they weren''t doing anything). Those same players were more than happy to sign and talk to fans when Milkis wasn't around.
Not sure what else you want. The guy was not pleasant in my experience nor in the experience of many other people I was at MLG with. If this isn't enough for you, then too bad I guess.
What kind of hand gesture did he make? Was it like a shoo-shoo gesture outward from his body, or like a NYC traffic cop "DO NOT PROCEED" flat-palm gesture?
